Mario Kart. Its unpredictable and not nearly as tedious as GT. Its just a lot more fun. The worldwide sales seem to back that idea.

NoLimitJay1

If you're using sales as any sort of evidence of quality, doesn't that mean the joke-of-a-Mario Kart released on the Wii is the best Mario Kart by some 5 million?

Oh, and, for the record, GT1 has outsold all of the Mario Karts except for the Wii/DS ones. I guess it's better than all the Mario Karts except for the latest one

Mario Kart. Kart racing games are so much fun that after playing them, any car racing game will feel boring. Ridge Racer and Midnight Club are the only ones I've REALLY enjoyed for car racer games. Most of GT3 was earning licenses. WTF? I actually enjoyed Jak X more than any of those types of games as well. I enjoyed Jak X a bit more than kart racers, but essentially, it's a cross between Wipeout/Mario Kart/Burnout. Wipeout is my favorite one, though. Thrilling action with good style racing, oh, and DON'T blow up!:P

[QUOTE="Shafftehr"] the joke-of-a-Mario Kart released on the Wii is the best Mario Kart IronBass

Most certainly is one of the best.

There have only been four on consoles. The only one it's even in contention with for how good it is is the one on the GC. It is *bar none* worse than the ones for the N64 and the SNES. Yes, third place in a race of four is "certainly one of the best" in the race, but... Is that really something to brag about?

I think it is second only to DD. And I'm, not "bragging about" anything. Just that being the second best game in one of the best racing series ever is certainly a merit.

i can understand if you guys dont like gran turismo, but how can you say its not the best sim racer. its by far the best sim. and as soon as gt5 comes out, it will be complete because of the damage. but everything else like physics and graphics, gt5 beats every other sim racer out there (even forza2. thats an arcade racer)

New gamer, eh? Even the reviewing (Gamerankings - take a look, and it's pretty definitive) community pretty clearly recognizes what smacked me in the face when I played that stripped down joke of the series.

The fact that you don't even mention the PC's Sim racers betrays that your experience in the genre is *really* limited.

If you're going to find anything that even comes close to a measure of "best" that we can discuss as a community, it's obviously not sales, nor is it personal opinion. In such a discussion, Community review averages are generally accepted as some general approximation of what's best. Sheep have been using this line of reasoning for over a decade now with OoT. You *should* know that if you've been gaming for 15 years. Without the "reviews = bestest" argument, the whole OoT as "best game ever" is basically a fan club rather than any sort of community accepted piece of information that vaguely resembles a fact. And just for the record, if the reviewing community means nothing, you mean *way* less than nothing. So, move on and go into whatever cave people who have played all the Mario Karts and still like the new one the best gather in.

Wrong. What really separates the men from the boys is enjoying the games you like, without worrying for such nonsenses like if somebody consider you "kiddy" or not.

I like cars in Gran Turismo, but I also like fun, and while Gran Turismo 2 was very fun, Gran Turismo 3 and 4 aren't as fun as that game IMO.

My elder brother owns an RS America (look it up) and races it as a hobby - Autocross and a variety of track events across the northern west coast. He's dumped tens of thousands of dollars into this hobby and getting his car set up, everything from bucket seats, a roll cage in the back to stiffen the frame, to having some bloody piece taken out of the muffler that makes the thing sound like a damned Harley. Mario Kart is the only video game he actually enjoys playing to this day, and he's had opportunity to play GT and Forza - considers them jokes for people who like to pretend they're doing something real.

So in short... LMAO at you - you think you're a big boy with all the macho talk.

Go figure, he doesn't see the point in playing a game that's less fun just so you can *pretend* you are driving cars you probably can't afford to get close to. Maybe I'll ask him what he, as a car lover, thinks of someone who would trade in a fun game just so he could make-believe at having a fast car of his own

Giving your opinion is a statement, in virtue of you stating your opinion. You must have that confused with having an opinion but keeping your trap shut. It can be of no consequence because it really doesn't matter.

Your statements are absurd. Here's my brother, and here's his car:

http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=porschetrip122.jpg

On the California coastal highway driving it up from San Diego after getting it. Your statements implies that he, someone who prefers Mario Kart over GT, hasn't "matured" in some way as a car lover. But go figure, he races, it's his primary hobby, he spends most of his time hanging out with the little exotic car mechanic clique that he's found in our area... But you're saying that he hasn't "matured" in some way that you evidently have, because of his preference in video games!

I think that calling people "kids" and writing things like "LMAO" on almost every post says a lot more of how mature a person is than his gaming taste.

I can't stand racing games like GT and Forza. Too boring. So I gotta go with Mario Kart.

Giving your opinion is a statement, in virtue of you stating your opinion. Shafftehr

Wrong! According to Oxford (and we usually can trust Oxford :P):

statement: a formal account of facts or events.

Facts or events. Opinions don't fit on neither of both categories.

Mario Kart series Gran Turismo is good for its genre but I like Arcade racers. My two favorite racing series are Mario Kart and F-Zero.

Great, so your old and studying.

People change and mature, some dont, some like to live in the past, for nostalgic reasons or more.

I study Pharmacy, on my way to getting a masters too. I like my cars, drive one and owned a few in a past.
I love mario kart on the n64, but now i prefer gran turismo, because it adds more knowledge about cars to what i know.

So end of the day, your tastes differ.

IronBass

I think that calling people "kids" and writing things like "LMAO" on almost every post says a lot more of how mature a person is than his gaming taste.

Instead of 'kids', i say a 'younger audience' or 'young gamers' or any nicer way of saying kids to make you feel better.

This is just a forum and those phrases are used a lot. If you dont see it, then your completely being ignorant.

Its not like your writing an assignment to be marked upon. You should know this.

Your really quick to defend the wii, by all means, carry on, says a lot about your maturity, but am out.

Dictionary.com (since I don't have an Oxford's sitting around): Event: 1) something that happens or is regarded as happening; an occurrence, esp. one of some importance. You having an opinion is something that happens, that is happening. You described the content of the event of you having an opinion. Therefore when you talk about it, you are giving a formal account of an event - thus you made a statement. One that is of no consequence, as it happens ;)

I have said nothing in defense of the Wii in this thread >_>

I actually have not defended anything buy my (very personal) opinion of Mario Kart Wii.

And wmy discussion with you is about why personal tastes defines how mature a person is.

You insinued that people liking Mario Kart over GT are either kids or not mature, I just said how strongly I disagree with that.

The "event of you having an opinion"? Smart move, smart move ;) You win this one. But I win becuse you tried to "show the inconsequence of my statements", which clearly is impossible. 1:1 :P

Ah, but if you're taking the position valuing the subjectivity of opinions, then I could easily respond that my opinion is that yours is of no consequence, and your own position would rationally demand that you accept it as being true for me. Otherwise, I could use whatever grounds you could claim to discredit my opinion concerning your opinion's consequence to discredit your opinion's consequence ;) I'd score it 1.2 to 0.8 for me. 0.8 for you because my position is obviously impossible to prove through argument, but 1.2 for me since your position indirectly makes mine a subjective truth which you can't argue against without discrediting your own position! Been fun in any case, but I've had my fill of pointless argument and online peeing matches for the day. Enjoy whatever flavour of Mario Kart you do, however crappy it is ;)

Mario Kart for sure. I've played it since the 64 days. I'm not really into racing, but Mario Kart is a lot of fun to play.

MK is fun, GT is boring. GT is beautiful, MK is ugly. But games are meant to be fun so MK wins for me. (Still I think MK Wii sucks, all the previous own)

Mario Kart, never liked sim racing.

Burnout Paradise more fun though in the way of arcade racers.
