Which is better? PS 5? or Xbox Series X?

With all the resources at their disposal how or why on earth, for the life of me, did MS come up with the Xbox Series S?

Sony had absolutely no problem releasing a PS5 Digital without any power compromises and here we have a downgraded Xbox Series S with less power than XSX.

I chose the XSX, I don’t regret it.

They intentionally designed a lower-spec, cheaper console because they didn't see any way they could cut the price of Series X in future, and they wanted to have something in the $300 range because that's when it truly becomes a mass-market item.

The best way to reasonably cut the price of a game console is by shrinking the SoC, lowering the energy and thermal requirements, enabling a physically smaller console that requires fewer and less complex components. But these consoles' SoCs are already on the smallest chip fab process available, and they aren't getting smaller any time soon. So the only way to shrink the SoC is by removing transistors, and if you're going to do that, you have to do it before the console launches so that everyone builds their games with that in mind. Hence Xbox Series S.

Two years from now, Xbox Series S will probably be outselling both PS5 and Series X, just because of the price.

Currently, I think it's hard to objectively say the Xbox Series X|S isn't the better overall console than the PS5..

More powerful hardware, cheaper hardware, better b/c for cross-gen titles, better storage solutions, better cloud progression, etc, etc, etc, and Game Pass bringing it all together from a value standpoint..

We'll see how things progress but right now it's clear that Xbox is doing the better job..

Series X, PS5 storage is a joke right now, im not into reinstalling and uninstalling. I wont even consider getting one untill they figure out additional storage options.

Also Xbox killing it on features like resume play and BC. I will game on my PC for another year or so before upgrading from PS4 to Series X in the living room.

I honestly wouldn't mind if the mods made a monthly official poll asking this question, along with tracking the results of the poll in prior months.

Returnal is at most 30 hours long, 15 hours if you rush it and Demon's Souls is a PS3 game from 2010. Chill.

I choose PC. But then again, the GPU in my PC alone is worth 3 PS5 consoles.

I can't say which is better yet since I haven't played the XSX. What I can say is that I have really enjoyed the PS5 and I doubt the XSX will be much different. The SSD is a game changer... of course haters will hate. Mostly better framerates, load times, color, pop in/out, draw distance, no stutter, etc. This is the generation I have been waiting a long time for. Problem is, there aren't many games right now. Everything is months to years out. Chivalry II is coming soon and Knockout City is a lot of fun as well though.

For me all that consoles bring to me are the exclusives. And we know what direction Microsoft has been going on XBOX. So all my XBOX game I have on PC either through Microsoft store or steam. So for me PS5 > XBOX X

XSX is objectively a better console. PS5 has objectively more exclusives.

We have our answer, and this thread backfired.

Whatever your friends play. If no friends then PS5 because it will likely have better games but looses points for $70 exclusives so its a draw.

I cast my vote for the Xbox brand because I am sick and tired of each and every generation everybody keep flocking to the Sony system even if the Sony system is worse than the Xbox system ( usually the Xbox system is more powerful and has better online capabilities). people keep saying Sony PlayStation is better because brand name recognition but it doesn't mean it's better it's just means is more popular. If power is what determines whether or not a system is better then the Xbox console should be the more popular one. just think about it Xbox is more powerful and has better online as well as a better subscription service it also shares the same third-party support so the only thing that separates the two system is the first party software which I will admit Xbox is not better than Sony in that category as for now, but this generation it is clear that the Xbox should have much better first party due to all of the Acquisitions that Microsoft did over the last few years

Library isn't good for any of them. Xbox is more powerful, has a more comfortable controller, and better online.

Well both consoles are great, its the little things like the duel-sense controller is really great and VR 2 for PS5 looks promising and most important are the games were Sony is delivering and we are still waiting to see a game running on XSX and to show us potential of the console and showcase the power, MS should be embarrassed by not being able to deliver one exclusive for XSX

PC of course. Then Switch, then Xbox Series X (only for Gamepass Ultimate), and dead last Ps5 (only care about Ratchet and Clank)

I still own a Colecovision with a steering wheel, a pedal and Turbo. I don't know if it still works though. Come to think of it, the console is probably even larger than a PS5. It is also prettier to look at.
