Try them both out for yourself... you don't need a bunch of biased opinions. Unless they actually say they've played both of them. But really since one costs and the other is free it would only make sense if the one that cost has better features. But if you want it free then PSN isn't so bad, you just won't get the same experience as Live users.SoNin360
I do, I own a Ps3 and I am currently playing a 360 at my friends, my friends need to know for whatever reason so I came to system wars to find out.

Oh in that case just keep playing your friend's 360 and check out the features of XBL and compare them to PSN and you should be able to come up with your own opinion about both services.[QUOTE="jakehouston88"]

as far as features go xbox live is better because it has more content , early demos, more dlc and great features
but the actual onlne gameplay is the same on both systems when u play a mulitplat game u log in the same on both and paying for xbox live does not mean less lag the xbox live fee is mainly for the added content not the actual online gameplay
i used to have xbox live got tired of paying for it beacuse i never used the features (i think i only used cross chat a couple of times) and am more of a ps3 exclusvies fan than xbox 360 exclusives
so to say which one is better it depends on how much ur going to use the features and if ur more into xbox 360 exclusives or ps3 exclusives
one example i can think of was playing soul calibur on xbox live and psn
guess what there was no difference with the actual online game play
The old adage works best
"You get what you pay for"
PSN works and that's about it. It's slow it's laggy it's marred by numerous bad interfaces, it's got a so so list of games and overall it's just something tacked on to the PS3 to try to compete.
Live on the other hand is fast and easy to navigate and stacked with quality content (an example being Summer of Arcade that started with Splosion Man and will end with Shadow Complex)
If you can't get better PSN will work, if you can get better then you wont want to settle for anything less then Live

That's what I was going to say. Also, I'd like to stress the Better Community, as that's arguably the most important thing in a multiplayer service.
PSN. I pay nothing for PC, so why should I pay to play on console? PSN can get me P2P and even Dedicated servers. I don't care about all the social features either of them have. I don't use it on Steam, nor do I have xFire, so all the friend chat yada yada. Idc, so in the end, I go with free.zero_snake99
True. Multiplayer services are all about the gaming. I wouldn't give Xbox Live a advantage because of Facebook or Netflix. Just judge them on the gaming.

I also agree that Home was just hype and it didn't turn out to good.
Xbox Live is slightly better but so it should be... You're paying for it! PSN is catching up though...hrt_rulz01
PSN would be miles ahead if it charged even have of what Live does. I'm not fanboy(I have and love an Xbox 360 singleplayer only[hate Live]) but if PSN had a little bit more support, it'd be as good as the PC.

The system is slow and disorganized
It's clearly seen as an afterthought and Sony treats it as such

i agree with this also
its funny how when i was paying for xbox live i was has having lag issues with halo 3 massive 8 vs 8 big team matches
but yet with psn i dont pay anything and i enjoy my lag free games on killzone 2 with 16 vs 16 matches and also have no issues with resistance 2 up to 60 players but on average i play in matches between 28-50 which is stil very impressive
and for those that own both systems does it make sense to pay to play online when u can play the same game for free online with the other system
if i was into gears 2 and halo 3 then i would prob pay to play online but since am not a fan of xbox exclusives it makes no sence for me to pay for a service i wont use much
but by all means if you enjoy xbox live then keep paying for it as u will continue to get great features, dlc and drm protected content but as for me i bought my consoles for gaming (i dont even use my ps3 blue ray player)
whats so slow and disorganized about it?

i didnt know when a company uses servers to offer more than 16 player matches its considerd an afterthought
u know what is an afterthought?
how bout using cheap parts when building a system and then pushing it out so u can get out in the market a year early only to have one of the worst falure rates in console history
but am sure lemmings consider the RROD an afterthought when they go out and buy another xbox360 while they wait for their first one to be fixed

Slow is the speed it offers not only in games but things like downloading games and a demo here and there (when they're offered which is rare) Heck you can have a T1 line still have to wait
Disorganized in the sense that everything is too cluttered and piled on each other. Even when it comes to what you downloaded.
PSN is like having a big box in your kitchen and just tossing all your plates and cups and silverware in there and root around each time you want to eat
Live is like having cupboards so everything is in it's correct place

XBL is clearly better. You just have to pay for it.Well as of right now, XBL is still better due to the features. PSN will be better eventually. Either way, Steam > all :)
XBL:
More Features:
More Videos
More Arcade Games/ More acclaimed arcade games
Larger User-base
PSN:
Home
Browser (personally feel like its a poor substitute to a PC browser but its still an advantage PSN has over Live).
Free
-Both PSN, and XBL have their advantages, while I feel that even though both services use dedicated servers for some games, PSN uses them on the more important titles, but even with this XBL usually beats PSN in most areas. XBL is also more well integrated into the system, and along with the little things like usually getting Demo's early, and having all the beta's availiable on the system, gives it the edge over PSN.

i agree with u on slow spead with dlc downloads but i guess its a good thing i dont buy dlc and the rare times i download demos i can do it while playing a game or set the feature that lets the download complete and then turns of the ps3 automaticaly
i have no problems with the xmb menu i love how its set up and have no problems navigating through it
what ever u say that is slower on the ps3 has nothing to do with ACTUAL online gameplay because that speed is based on ur isp not the fee for xbox live
all ur saying is u like the menu system on live better than psn thats just your opinion and it does not mean xbox live is better
people keep saying live is better beause they charge u
well with that logic then anyone that has an HDTV and use it for off the air antena then it must not be true hd because ur not paying for cable
and when am watching an HDTV show on nbc and hit display button on my tv, when it tells me am watching the show on 1080i it must still suck because am not paying for it and the same show on cable also running on 1080i must be 100% better because ur paying for it
and here i thought the reason i didnt pay for cable is cause i dont care for the 70+ channels i dont care for but now i know i have to pay for cable because the picture quallity is better than having an of the air signal on ur HDTV

*True. *Has it, but's crap, (blabla open java plug in on next side) **Only like 4-5 games, but it's nice to have dedicated servers. It doesn't always have lag, but it exists. *Opinion *False, very very false. *Netflix, if only the movie service was availible on europe, then it would be better then netflix *Only worthy to meet up for a large game, could do this on xbl in seconds. *How convient, rather then having party chat i can text someone while playing warhawk, really convinient (sarcasm) *NXE and XBM have thisXBL - 9/10 PSN - 7.5/10 XBL is still much better. XBL has more features, better community/features, and better marketplace but PSN is still great for a free service.Nonstop-MadnessAgree.
One problem with this is talk about features. This should be a conversation about the gaming, because that's really all that matters in multiplayer.
If it didn't matter, MS would be releasing these fuatures, and sony wouldn't try to copy them. And we wouldn't be using them, let alone have various threads about it.One problem with this is talk about features. But when it comes to online, the multiplayer is all that matters. Would anyone pay for live if it didn't have multiplayer? No. Would they pay if it was just multiplyaer? Some. would.
XBL is marginally better, but the difference between the two services doesnt justify the price difference betweenXBL and PSN imo.
XBl is better with features like
Cross game party chat, the ability to look at a friends', friend list, micsincluded with the 360,and... well those were the only really interesting feature for me.
PSN has an easier to use menu (the XMB), so finding what you want to do is easier, while the internet browser makes the free online almost a steal, of course when PS3's cost more than 360 I suppose its only fair.
So, I'd say that XBL is better online if you are willing to risk the higher chance of running into screaming teams of 11 year olds, but I guess it beats the lack of mics on PS3 in comparison. PS3 online games like Warhawk, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and SOCOM only pale in comparison to the juggernaut Halo 3 (which Killzone 2 rivals quite well), so PS3 has better online games I would say.
UntilHome's empty promise of media streaming (which means you can watch a movie or listen to music with friends over the internet) come true, the XBL advanced party system (which offers the same thing with movies come mid August) beat PSN even on terms PS3 set years ago, but have yet to fulfill, price and content gives PS3 the edge, but otherwise XBL is best.

PSN is good for a FREE service, but you get what you pay for, Updates are dreadfully slow. PSN gets demo sometimes weeks after XBL, XBL definitely has more content and a lot more downloadable games. Plus HD movies, Games on Demand. videos and soon Twitter, Facebook and streaming music channels.
Hey there TC, I just wanna say that there is a disgusting amount of ignorance & bias in this thread. if, I wanted information thatisfair & accurate about something, (for example) then, I would go to the source http://www.xbox.com/en-us/live rather than trusting the opinions of those who only support one platform in SW. & to all the fanboys in this thread, you know who you are! Hey! speaking of which.. what are doing out here freely roaming around the Internet! HQ needs you!damage control duty, front & centre on the double! Playstation3 General needs your special attention! Too many fellow PS3'ers are reporting broken systems! your orders are as follows.. #1 infiltrate the poisonous thread, #2 deny their false claims, call them liars & accuse then of system neglect, #3) sabotage the thread by luring the filthy liar into a flame war thus causing thread to be locked. now, move move move! LMAO!
LIVE is a rip-off.
The 360 in general is a rip-off:
HD-dvd add-on
$150 (tiny 120gb) (4500tpm LOL) Hard drive
$100 cheap looking wi-fi puglin.
RRoD
The PSN is perfect, and when psp go launches with more ps1 games. It will be awesome.
Eventually when ps2 backwards compatibility comes in firmware 3.0 the ps2 games avaible in the PSN will rock also.
