I was at EBgames.com and saw a ps3 for 599. Then I found a Xbox 360 for 399. So end of story, right...?
But then I saw a HD-DVD add-on for 199... then I remember i have to get Xbox live for like a 50 per year. Oh and the new 120 gig Hard drive for 179....
So if you plan to sit at home and just play games off line and not watch HD movies then get a 360. But if you want a home entertainment system buy a ps3... IMO
*editted xbox live price from 100 down to 50...* :)

IF we don't plan to watch HD movies? Guess what? The MAJORITY of people don't watch HD movies. There are fewer people with HDTVs than with. That's not much of an "if". And don't even TRY to say the 120 BG HDD is needed, you will get burned.... badly. Same goes for wi-fi adapter. As for Live, so what? It's the cost of a game. How many games will you buy a year? Over the course of the console's life span? How many extra controllers? This btw applies to PS3 as well.
Xbox 360 = $400
PS3 = $600

You mean the PS3 with nothing worth playing out it? If I wanted a movie player, I wouldn't buy a PS3 because I already have a DVD player and over 400 DVD's. Most people don't buy a game console to watch movies on it. If that was truly the case like Sony believed, they wouldn't be selling only 84,000 PS3 a month in the U.S.
in order to match all the features the ps3 has, the 360 ends up being more expensive. However, if you dont care about HD-DVD, WIFI, and dont mind paying for XBL anyways, the 360 is cheaper.Broman6015
The difference is that Sony forces you to pay the extra $200, whether you want to or not. A lot of people aren't going to use wireless if they don't have a router already. How many people need HD-DVD? Not me, and million others don't. The HD-DVD for the 360 didn't even sell that well. Why? Because no one wanted or needed it. Waste of money. I have no problem paying $50 for XBox Live. I get tons of FREE updated content and the best online gaming service on the market.

HD-DVD drive- 200$
wifi- 100$
1 year of XBL- 50
grand total: 830$
PS3 60g- 600$
bluray - included
Wifi - Included
PSN - Free
Grand total: 600$
so thats it by Numbers only.

Look you can't sit here and add acessories as part of the price because it does not come with the system itself. If you were to buy the Xbox 360 off the shelf it is $200 dollars cheaper, if you go with the Elite it $120 cheaper. So in conclusion the 360 is cheaper. Accessories are gonna be more expensive that is business. I'm sure that if you add some of the other accessories that the PS3 has it would go up in price as well. The bottom line is WIFI built in is not nessacary nor is it needed, HD-DVD player is also not needed, and oh ya 120 gig hard drive is not as well. Oh and by the way yes wireless is nice but being is wired is faster which you would want if you are playing online. Oh and the XBL cost because Microsoft uses its own servers which means 95% of all games that come out for 360 will be muliplayer, which of course on the PS3 there is not a gaurentee that there is online because Devs do not want to spend the money for the servers to do so. So what is cheaper all comes down in taste really, are the accessories needed?
Actually i can Add accessories becasue thats all the junk you need to buy to equal all the features found on a PS3. Devs dont need to buy servers for PS3 online games as everything is hosted through your PS3 (Im pretty sure, but could be wrong)
Ya someone has to support it no? Its just not a free service, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
It's free, get over it! Second there is such a thing as free lunch, school offers it.....Remember!?No actually when I was in school I had to pay for lunch and if I didn't have lunch money I had to get an IOU. Secondly PS3 online almost every game does not have muliplayer support, why you might ask? Well because it is a free service, so there for someone has to support the servers for the game to run on, so people can play against eachother. Which the developers do not wish to pay for I.E. like EA sports is helpful enough to do so. Companies such as sega which made virtua fighter which does not have online support(correct me if I'm wrong) because they do not want to spend the money to support an online community.

First of all, don't come in here and lie. You didn't go anywhere near the 360 section in EB games and you knew the price of the 360 all along.
Second of all, find me a better console online service than live and I will agree that live should be free...otherwise, it doesn't make sense to me for ps3 fanboys to justify paying $200 for the console because it's "the best", but they aren't willing to pay for an online service that is "the best"? Sounds pretty strange to me. Either you are going to pay for the best or you aren't, you can't have things both ways.
HD movies are available on the 360. Enough said.
You have to get that harddrive? Of course, because it jacks up the price and that is all you are trying to do in this thread. If you need 120gig for the 360, than you need 120 gig for the ps3, so add that to the price of the ps3 as well.
And when it's all said and done, you have to add another $200 to the ps3 price for a media center extender, since the 360 does that right out of the box. But let me guess, there is a reason why I'm not supposed to do that...right?

All FREE online 1-on-1 or multiplayer....Try again fanboy!!!I was at EBgames.com and saw a ps3 for 599. Then I found a Xbox 360 for 399. So end of story, right...?
