Well, With the recession going on and on.. many companies are making losses, and even closing some departments and lots of layoffs. What do you guys think will continue and will more people join the console community or Pc gaming community. Taking into account that many games on the Pc are being pirated../Also renting for Console games.

Discuss.

An even larger number of console games are being rented everyday which is just a legal form of pirating.

consoles... Your PC will become dated in about 3 months and you'll need to spend another $2000 to get a new up to date one

Why not take into account used games sales and renting as well? Hell EA has gone to great lengths to persuade people to buy games new like charging for day one DLC on all used copies..

You won't need to, you may merely choose to if you want to have the most recent hardware. It is by no means required.

there is already a trend of a slowing pc market for games. not to mention the obvious, lack of AAA pc exclusives compared to pre-2005, most pc games are being ported to consoles, like dragon age origins for example.

This is one of the dumbest things I have heard anyone say about PC Gaming. (Even more idiotic than cows saying UC2 looks better than Crysis.)

Even without as many AAA titles as it had in the past, the PC is still the platform with the most AAA titles and nearly six times more AA titles than any other platform. Many of those AA titels would easily be AAA by console standards.

You guys really look at this porting thing one from one side of the argument huh? You do realise the PC has 50% of both HD console's libraries right?

Which I intend to pick up for the 360 after I finish ME2! To me, console gaming is a financially viable platform - I pay for the console once, and everything is guaranteed to run - no complications, etc.

Renting is the safe route to console piracy. 0 chances to be caught. No ISP needed.

I'm sure that rental companies have a deal with publishers, and considering that you don't own the game in any way - it's not the same as downloading a file and keeping it.

yea what you say is right. though, its still not so popular in many countries but still if it becomes very popular i guess no need to buy games just rent it.

Its safer. None can catch you. Rent Copy Keep Play. A perfect crime.

Well, let's see. You could buy a new console every 5 years or so for $400, along with whatever accessories don't work with the new one, or you could buy a new GPU or CPU every couple years for $200, along with whatever parts are required to support the new one. Then there's the old games - you can either get a console that may or may not have backwards compatibility, or an OS that may or may not run your old games (Quake or Unreal engines run great; on the other hand, I have plenty of games that are unplayable). Sounds about the same to me.
