Which is most likely to flop? (Round 1) (Currently KZ2)

I voted Killzone 2.

Its simple,Killzone sucked.

The other come from already proved IP's,and lately Crysis has been giving out great info.

Killzone may have flopped but people said the same thing with Killzone Liberation and it got a 9.0 here. With lots of room for improvement in Killzone 2 it has a better chance than Killzone 1 ever had.

Btw I voted none, because MP and Halo are proven franchises, Killzone 2 I said above, and Crysis has been giving out very promising previews every time

It's gonna get AAA hype, we already pretty much can guarantee that.

From what ? all weve seen from it are pretty graphics,IIRC the original Killzone had pretty graphics for its time.

I gurantee AAA hype for Killzone 2 in SW.....period.

Flopping is proportional to the amount of praise recieved prior to the release...

Since the most praised (not speculated praise) but blind this game is going to be the greatest thing ever praise goes to crysis. Unless crysis literally makes me question my religion upon release with all the hype and praise it has recieved from all angles it is a flop. Since it has been built up as the messiah of hermits tricked out gaming rigs short of a 10/10 score I can't see anyone being completely sold on all the hype its recieved.

Crysis, while recieving massive hype for its graphics, has hardly been hyped at all compared to some games in terms of the overall package, story, gameplay, graphics. In fact I think its been significantly underrated by people who don't do any research before posting.

Your reasoning fails with about a dozen games--One of them being MGS3.

What you also fail to note is that noteriety doesn't rely solely on past exposure of games that aren't the game that's actually being marketed. I guess you haven't actually been paying attention to all the console newbies who love decked out graphics.

I think MP3 will come out to be a disappointing game for many. I'm not all into the flop vs. hype ordeal, but I have a feeling MP3 will be a rushed title that will leave many holes for reviewers and gamers to notice. IMO.Shusty_lives

I said Killzone 2 since I don't see the others flopping. Killzone has a bad history and we know the least about the game, whereas the other games information has been prevalent and good so far (besides maybe Crysis). Also, anyone who says MP3 is getting mixed reviews is exaggerating, since the only big site I know of that gave them a partially bad preview was 1up, and it was mostly good.

It's the first to second, not the second to third. Yeah, plenty of games have bad sequels, but most of the third games are better. I haven't seen many horrible game get sequels, much less a AA or AAA ones.

No HuD- No Health, its in Gears of War i know, but it feels like Killzone invovated it al little bit more :) theres nothing in the screen except the Crossbar, i love it :D

Killzone liberation actually got an 8.3 .

Theres always room for improvement in any game before release,some just dont do it.

MP3 for me. I absolutely loved the original Metroid Prime. My standards were lowered with MP2. It seemed very tedious and annoying at times, ultimately causing me to leave the game unfinished.

Honestly, I hope MP3 is not a let-down. It just doesn't seem to be a breath of fresh air so far.

Its not only in gears of war,its in Chronicles of Riddick and ICO and tons more,there was a thread about it earlier today.

theres no way they "inovated" it more when its just taking out more from almost nothing. GeoW hdidnt have a hud other than to shoot,or when taking damage.Other games featur no hud at all. How is it innovative ?

The view - of having no Health bar and the screen going blank and white is amazing to me at least, the animation + the lighting in the game had KZ2 get my attention. After The BBC New Killzone 2 Vid, my Hopes are high for this game, we hardly know anything about it yet, and its allready looking good :)

MGS3 isn't really a sequel since it's the third game. If you show me a"new" IP that was rated horribly and then became AA or AAA franchise, I'll give you your point (though a AA would be like half a point, since this is supposed to be AAA).

I'm not sure where you picked up that jive lingo, but it's beyond me. A second sequel is still a sequel none-the-less.

MGS is a proven franchise and its sequel still initially didn't do so well, which bogs down on the point of the jaded ignorant I quoted. This reasoning can work both ways really. Killzone 2 will probably be a hit while the first Killzone will remain in (underrated) cult status.

There's a commonality between the scenarios of the two games: MGS2 got buttloads of exhibition and commercial support while MGS3 did not.

Killzone, while still making it into commercials never got as much talk as Killzone 2. We're even seeing KZ2 in newspapers for crying out loud; KZ never got THAT kind of coverage.

If you guys wanna argue quality, that's a different animal. Game mechanics have a way of changing with each actual game. In the case of KZ2, what none of you seem to want to understand is that Guerrilla actually acknowledged what made Killzone less than complete, which is clue one that Killzone 2 will be much better (lord knows they have the resources to do better).

I realize that that the OP and everyone else means "flop" in terms of rating, but from the context everyone is employing, it seems that we're implying sales moreso than developed quality because it seems that's the only escape clause for people who have the audacity to say, "Killzone 2 is gonna suck!" without ever playing it.
