Super Metroid is the only great metroid game. Starfox and Starfox 64 are both great. By count of 2 to 1, Starfox wins.

Nonsense. You know your raging boner for the N64 really fucks around your judgement.

Prime is glitchy. It is rpg slow. Starfox has its limits but still has more depth. Not sure where I mentioned Nintendo 64.

What the actual ****? Have you seen a good player play prime? Or any Metroid game for that matter?

Yeah its glitchy.

-_- And? The core game design? Second to none. Exploits can be found in many games. Shit, aren't you the guy who thinks Mario 64 is the GOAT? Have you seen players complete that game in 7 minutes using glitches? Yeah, must be shit because it's glitchy. Real time polygons are never going to be stable in games.

Mario 64 does have a few game breaking glitches. Those are very difficult to pull off. The science behind that game is insane.

Imo Starfox is just a more solid experience as it is score based.

Who cares? If it leads to something cool like sequence breaking, then Nintendo is stupid as shit for not building on it.

Actually you generally tend to find that the more well designed games have more sequence breaking exploits. It kind of adds an element to the game. But it's super hard to pull off so. Not my thing but it's cool.

Regardless the glitches are mostly things that lead to speed running sequence breaking, which is one of the better aspects about Super Metroid's brilliant level design, ditto the Prime games. None of its "glitches" actually ruin the atmosphere driven gameplay of the prime games.

Starfox is fun and all, but deep? compared to what? Pong? Let's compare a bench warmer to some all time classics like Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 1+2 lolokay.

Look I'm not trying to upset people. Over the years I think games based on rhythm/time/math/etc never get old.

When Mario 64 does it, the ''science behind it is insane''. When Prime does it, it's just a glitchy mess. Go figure.

And brilliantly designed games age even better. Metroid Prime is at the top of the tree. This isn't just my opinion, but most experienced gamers/journalists with no bias or nostalgia ties. I love Mario 64, and Star Fox 64 is pretty cool, but it's not fucking with Metroid Prime man and I have a feeling you wouldn't be saying that if it wasn't on the N64.

@bobrossperm:

I'm not being a fanboy. Look at the glitches. Most of them took computer assistance to figure out, and some are next to impossible to be pulled off by a human--if at all.

Metroid by far. One of the best gaming franchises ever created.

Star Fox is amazing too and should always be represented on every Nintendo console in some way, as should Metroid, but, you know, Nintendon't listen to their fans or logic 90% of the time.

Only Starfox game I ever bought/played was the 3D one released on 3DS. I returned it the next day. I never played it when it originally came out so I had no nostalgia for it. It was kiddy kiddy bang bang shit to me. I like Metroid better.

Well I don't think I can choose, I only played Star Fox 64 and liked it. On the other hand, I only played Metroid Fusion but I only played it for an hour.

Metroid. Even the best Star Fox can't touch the average Metroid.

I love them both but I don't know what the next mtroid will be and the series seems to have a steep decline. Metroid prime, fusion and zero mission were all amazing. Prime 2 was very good, but really didn't compare to those others, same with 3 and the DS game, then we got our first ligit bad metroid game with other M. Star Fox on the other hand was extremely popular and so was Star Fox 64 but nothing after has had much popularity but it could be argued that it's on the upswing afterStar Fox 64 3d.

As far as what is coming that has been announced Star Fox is looking way better.

I think metroid games have aged better than star fox games and Super Metroid is a real master piece but Star Fox has always been loads of fun, if we pretend Adventure never happened.

Metroid, far and away. And I'm not even into the games.

Star For hasn't been good since Star Fox 64. As usual Nintendo fans aren't good enough in Nintendo's eyes for them to get what they ask for. We asked for more like Star Fox 64 and F-Zero GX, Nintendo told us to piss off.

Metroid has the fantastic 2D games and the better 3D ones. What does Star Fox have again? A decent rail shooter. Yeah, no contest.

Metroid.

you know what would be cool? Metroidvania, wich would actually be Metroid. it would be really cool to loot different kind or armor and weapon pieces that would actually behave totally differently. oooh man... you know, Igarashi-infused Metroid.
