[QUOTE="Persistantthug"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] Marathon, Myth and Oni disagree with you. They weren't a household name before Halo, but they were still an incredibly important dev house. I could say that Naughty Dog wasn't recognized until they were bought by Sony.DarkLink77
You pretty much said all that needed to be said right there.
NAUGHTY DOG created CRASH BANDICOOT and their many other IP's before they were "bought" by Sony?
They created Crash, which was their only major IP before being acquired. Bungie had Marathon, Myth, and Oni to a lesser extent before being acquired by MS.Marathon and Myth....While I've heard of those, very few people have...Same with Oni.
Naughty dog has just as many little thought about oldies just like that, including RING OF POWER (cult underground RPG).
Fact is, Naughty Dog's done severl different genres, more than Bungie, has more critical acclaim, and has been around many years before Bungie was even formed.
Sorry...Naughty Dog takes the win.
Based off of critical reception of Games, Bungie has the better track record, consistently as well. Personally however, I vastly prefer Naughty Dog. In fact, I'd go as far as to say Naughty Dog are my favorite devs period.

Popularity does not discredit Bungie's quality long before Halo. Halo was just their breakout hit, but Marathon and Myth is when they solidified themselves as a good-great developer. Halo just iced it and put them on the map. But to be fair in a 10 year span Bungie has done Halo In a 10 year span Naughty Dog has done Jak 1-3 and Uncharted 1 and 2. So If we go by what have you done for me lately. Naughty Dog has given us more variety.bungie is great but naughty dog has a longer and greater track record with a larger selection of games. uncharted is the best franchise this generation. so i have to go with naughty dog

Bungie has done a lot more for the gaming institution has a whole.
Kickinurass
Bungie was basically made by Microsoft.
Naughty Dog was creating games as far back as the SEGA GENESIS, and even before that on Apple IIGS's.
Naughty Dog has won more Critical Acclaim, and has sold many millions of copies of lucrative franchises (Crash Bandicoot for example).
Bungies most acclaimed game is Halo. Yes it is popular, but like I said, they were made by Microsoft.
I'd argue its the other way around. Halo CE had little to no backing at the time - hell I thought my dad would bring home Max Payne which is what everyone seemed to be talking about at the time. Yet it released and blew up way beyond what anyone could have expected.
Then Halo 2 and set a the bar for online console gaming.
I'd say Halo made the Xbox, if anything.
halo made the xbox and crash was the icon of the ps1[QUOTE="Persistantthug"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] They created Crash, which was their only major IP before being acquired. Bungie had Marathon, Myth, and Oni to a lesser extent before being acquired by MS.jg4xchamp

The only way to judge that would be to line up the MC (or GR) averages of all their games, and see who's got a higher score. However, there are obvious problems with that. And how long a dev house has been around doesn't mean anything in terms of what they make, just how much.Naughty Dog have released more and Better IPs but i think it's stupid how people are saying Bungie are **** they aren't very good....all i can say is are you guys on drugs? Seriously.
I prefer Bungie as a developer (let's be honest they are awesome with there community) But naughty dog over time have been more consistant.

I disagree.
It isn't the most critical factor, but "length of time" does count for something. You don't get to stay in business for over 20 years for being crappy.
I have to say Naughty Dog. Mainly because they have created more memorable titles then Bungie. The only games Bungie will be remembered for are Halo, Marathon, Myth and Oni. Only Halo was a big hit. Where as Naughty Dog did Rings of Power (Genesis), Way of the Warrior (3DO) Crash Bandicoot, Jax & Daxter and of course the Uncharted games. Besides Way of the Warrior, all the other games were good to great. I was lucky enough to interview Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin while they were doing Way of the Warrior. Even got to play the game before it was released. The control wasn't great mainly because the 3DO controllers sucked hard. The game felt like a Mortal Kombat knock off. Anyway, Jason and Andy were great guys and very talented developers back then and still are today. So I vote for Naughty Dog.This poll is complete with quick "research" cliff notes for your convienience and personal viewing pleasure, brought to you by our sponsers, WIKIPEDIA. ;)

In which case Bungie clearly isn't crappy considering they stayed in business for a decade before Halo, and another decade with halo, and are set for a new decade without halo.[QUOTE="Persistantthug"]I have to say Naughty Dog. Bungie because they are amazing. They made Halo ..... one of the greatest/most successful franchises of all time. Halo is still very much top dog FPS when it comes to features. Also people saying Bungie never made a game other than Halo ..... thats because MS wouldn't let them. Nonstop-MadnessWhat features are you referring 2? Halo has the most bland online component out of any FPS ive played.
Thats way to easy, Naughty Dog by a long shot. Bungie is not a very good developer IMHO and are now with the Hitler of video game publishers.djsifer01Not a very good developer? What are you smoking? lol!! Halo has sold over 20million copies in their series. If you can make a series that sells that many copies you are definitely a VERY GOOD DEVELOPER. That would be like saying Rockstar or Bioware aren't very good developers. Give respect where respect is due.

Halo has the most bland online component out of any FPS ive played. you may not enjoy the multiplayer, but from a feature set it pretty much owns the console FPS space in that department. Forge/Theatre/Bungie.net A highly customizable MP to the point where you can have your serious game modes ala slayer, CTF, team swat, etc. But you have the more fun game modes like griffball, rocket race, dodgeball, boxing, team stickies, etc On top of that Halo 3 had a pretty well done campaign(although schizo in quality) with 4 player coop to boot. It's a game that still has splitscreen multiplayer and system link. As far as feature sets go, few games gave you bang for your buck like Halo 3 did. The price of the game couldn't really be questioned to be honest, only the overall quality. Which to you is bad, and to me is good. Which is fine, to each his own. But the feature set can't be denied in this case, compared to this generations shooters Halo 3 was pretty content loaded when it came out and only one other game really sticks out for content and customizability.

He was probably referring to Theatre, Forge,Custom Games, 4 player campaign (Really seems like we're losing the co-op this gen... WTF) the metagame scoring, and B.net integration.
Suprisingly, playing through Perfect Dark has made me realize how feature packed that game was for its time as well. Shame so little of it caught on.

Naughty dog, halo and uncharted are even even both having their best game that was exclusive scoring a 9.5
but Jak and daxter tilts the scale to naughty dog for me but keep in mind ive never played the myth/oni stuff by bungie
Both are great but I give a very very slight edge to ND. The Uncharted games are some of my favorites of all time.
lol? 3 great series are better than a company that makes the SAME game 4 times, with better graphics. Crash, Jak, Uncharted series > Halo. by a longshot.Sh4nk3r
This is funny because it's ultimately true.
And sometimes........
sometimes they didn't even bother to do better graphics.
lol
lol's aside, though....
I would like to submit, for fairness and honesty's sake,
MYTH was a critically acclaimed RTS series in the late 90's.
Bungie gets "points" for that.
Fair is fair...and truth is truth.
:)
I voted for Naughty Dog and I don't think it's really close. Bungie caught fire in a bottle with the Halo series but I'm not confident in their ability to create another quality franchise. The last non-Halo game I played from Bungie was Oni, and that was a very mediocre (at best) game. Naughty Dog has delivered quality titles ever since Playstation with Crash Bandicoot. The Jak series prooved the devoloper was more than a one trick pony, churning out another top notch series. The Uncharted series speaks for itself this generation and in my opinion Bungie as a way to go to catch up to Naughty Dog.

THIS
is what you call sound logic
However, like I said though, MYTH shouldn't be dismissed. It was being released around the Crash Bandicoot era....fair is fair, afterall. ;)
[QUOTE="Fightingfan"][QUOTE="Evz0rz"] Bungie made some really great games before Halo too...just saying. Personally I can't decide :PDarkLink77Name them? Bungie only has had 5 IPs in 10 years and unless you're a hardcore mac fan you won't be able to name 3. Gnop, Myth, Oni, Marathon, and teh Halos. Cookie for you, did you do that your self or A LA Google?
...Bungie made a game that (IMO) threw online console gaming into the big time, they have a game from 3 years ago which still tops the charts in terms of 'most played'. And ND made Crash Bandicoot, I can't fault them for that :P Plus Uncharted 2 is fantastic from what I've played at a friends. Also...subpar games don't get huge amounts of critical praise, or threads like this. Not a fan of either of them. They both make cliche'd, non existent innovation, subpar games in my opinion.
Dataleak
Bungie did one thing great. ND has done multiple things very very good. I will say I dont think naughty dog is worth what Bungie is (as in they wont be getting the deal Bungie did from Activision anytime soon)shadow8585
Lets be clear, because I have a feeling you are a bit misinformed...
UNCHARTED 2 is considered one of THE GREATEST games of alltime...right now.
Also, why would Naughty Dog go looking for a deal with Activision? They weren't foolish enough to sign with someone stiffling and uncreative in the first place (Microsoft), and they surely wouldn't back that up and sign with someone as greedy, stiffling as Activision...seriously....Sony's much better than both for game developers.
But out of curiosity, Why wouldn't Naughty Dog be worth as much if not more than Bungie? They are fresh off one of THE GREATEST games of alltime, with a very distinguished track record...more distinguished than Bungie...that's for sure.
