I was having a discussion with some lads in the local yesterday,... and we got onto the discussion of the current gen machines,..... now I own all three consoles, and I enjoy all three,.... I have no preference at all. When asked which one they thought would die out first, 3 of them said the PS3, and 2 said the 360. These are lads who aren't avid gamers, but do however buy machines,... interstingly, the 2 who said 360 BOTH OWN A 360!!!

Personally, I have a feeling that the 360 will be the first to go,... simply because I think Microsoft will be the first off the mark to release another console,... however thats just my opinion. I have 12 games for my 360, 6 for my PS3, nd 6 for the Wii,.. as I said, I have no preference at all,... Microsoft just have a history of upgrading far quicker than most other companies as far as I can see.

So,.... thoughts????!!!

Whoever releases the next-gen console first. Probably the 360.

Probably the Wii. The cover where I put in the GC controllers is already loose and somebody told me it's because the harddrive is failing.

1. The hard drive and the GCN ports have no relation what so ever. 2. Wii uses flash memory, it has no moving parts, so it's not really a hard drive.

Well then that's breaking. I can even hear how the flash drive is slowing down when ever I plug in a controller.

Flash drives don't make noise. The controller and flash drive are not related in any way, shape, or form. Your friedn is either messing with you, or doesn't know what they are talking about.

a flash drive can't make noise, it's physically impossible...unless the electricity running through your house is somehow 'fatter' than usual.

Probably 360 because Microsoft have ambitions to be a wealthier richer Sega.

Or the Wii, it's hardware is already dated.

Flash drive =/= disk drive.

Remember a couple of things: The Gamecube's disk format is different than that of the Wii's and it allows for ridiculously quick load times (see the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 4). The cover where the Gamecube controller ports are is detachable if you haven't noticed and is supposed to be loose. If your flash drive (or any other kind of memory storage) was dying, you'd run into serious problems such as system failures.

I can tell my flash drive is dying because when I plug in the controllers there is a delay then they work and then they don't.

Microsoft will be the first to announce their next console, and then ship it - however, I doubt the Xbox 360 will "die out". My vote goes for the Wii, I can't see how people can keep playing the same ol' games over and over. What will Nintendo release next, Super-Awesome Mario Universe? Come on Nintendo, let's start creating new IPs. Your next big game is what, Mario Kart Wii? Sounds like fun, oh yeah, it is fun since we all played it eleven years ago, or not that long ago on the Gamecube and the DS. After Mario Kart Wii, I'm guessing the next big game will be another Zelda game. I give more respect to EA than to Nintendo.

360. It offers nothing more to gaming, then just games. I don't think "next-gen" is just about an graphical update.

What's your view on the Wii? Motion Sensing controls in games has been out since the 80s, which was by Microsoft too - Sidewinder Pro, I believe the name of the device was. Nothing "Next-Generation" about it? Come on - AI, physics, graphics, sound, media center, and high definition. What does the Wii have again? Does it even have DVD playback? :P

None are going to die off but PS3 will overtake 360 by a big margin and MS will release their next console first....... so 360 it is.

I don't think Wii is "next-gen" also (current-gen if you want to be technical). I only brought one because my girlfriend wanted to play it. I do however enjoy the games on the Wii. Hey, I'm a gamer...

The next Xbox will be the first next gen system, and then MS will stop supporting the 360 with first party titles, like they did with the first Xbox.

So what do you consider it? You can't consider it last gen because it wasn't out last gen(Yes, this is a requirement.). So where do you think it belongs?

It shouldn't be a matter of where, but how can it become up-to-date to what is being accomplishs this genration. For instance, You wouldn't consider a new famous symphony composer "current-gen" of music, right? New generation doesn't just implies to the date it exists, but the content it has.

It'll either be Wii or 360. Sony will stick it out with the ps3 at least to year 6, the ps2 and 1 has shown that there's more money to be made by waiting and letting dev's loose than rushing out new consoles. MS likes pushing updates on people, and Wii is nearly technologically irrellevent this gen already. Wii can't even rely on multiplats like the ps3 can.

The 360, I think. I would say the Wii, but it's such a totally different console, breaking all the rules there is no telling. The PS3 will easily last the longer than the 360. I really have no doubt about that.

Sony would be the least to die out. This is coming from a goon who only has a Wii and 360. All those exclusive titles such as Final Fantasy will keep their fanbase in order for a long time. Oh my envyness.

1st. wii- the console is all ready outdated, and nintendo will probably release a new console knowing that

2. ps3- currently dead last in the console race, and thats a bad sign, even if sales increase thats not going to save it

3. 360 - since its really successful unlike xbox 1

It will be probably the 360, because it already stayed longer on the market, and for Microsoft is a good thing to launch the next gen console first....

lol Dude the PS3 is only dead last because the 360 launched before the PS3 and the Wii is incredible. It's not a "bad sign" the PS3 is in dead last, it's common sense. The 360 will go out before the PS3 because it's faulty, no WiFi, no next gen format, no bluetooth, etc. MS will be first to the market again next gen, regardless of costs - they've proven that to all of us this gen... rushing a console to launch regardless of reliability.

Besides, the Wii is in a league of it's own and playing by it's own rules. It isnt looking at what Sony and MS is doing, and will release the Wii according to Nintendo's schedule, not Sony or MS's.

It shouldn't be a matter of where, but how can it become up-to-date to what is being accomplishs this genration. For instance, You wouldn't consider a new famous symphony composer "current-gen" of music, right? New generation doesn't just implies to the date it exists, but the content it has.

Yes I would because it would be current. Do you know what a generation is?

What are these accomplishments? It's pretty up to date, you know it came out 11/06.

I think by the time PS3 catches up to Xbox 360 numbers. Xbox 3 will be out and the cycle starts with Microsoft leading once again and Sony playing catch up.

Sounds like fun, oh yeah, it is fun since we all played it eleven years ago, or not that long ago on the PS2 and Gamecube, and... oh yeah, the DS. After Mario Kart Wii, I'm guessing the next big game will be another Zelda game. I give more respect to EA than to Nintendo.Stevo_the_gamer

I don't remember a Mario kart ever being on the PS2 but if you have a copy, I'll gladly buy it from you:D

[QUOTE="Kirlok"][QUOTE="iusm78"][QUOTE="goblaa"][QUOTE="iusm78"]

[QUOTE="Willy105"][QUOTE="iusm78"]Probably the Wii. The cover where I put in the GC controllers is already loose and somebody told me it's because the harddrive is failing.iusm78

Well my flash drive makes noise and it's dying so what.

do you even know that a flash drive is?

Yes, I know what a flash drive is. What do you think I have a degree in Flash drive for?

sooo sig worthy.

[QUOTE="Cute_Red_Panda"]360. It offers nothing more to gaming, then just games. I don't think "next-gen" is just about an graphical update.Stevo_the_gamer

I'll give you sound but HD HAHAHA funny... Anyways if you want physics play elebits on the wii. AI isnt impressive on any system.

720p, 1080i, 1080p - High Definition through Componite A/V (which is supplied) or optional HDMI. Wii has... Erm, 480p? My original Xbox does 480p. Physics on the Xbox 360 (and PS3), and the artificial intelligence is leaps and bounds above the what the Wii will ever manage to do.
