Couldn't find your other post but the one where you said mario kart on the ps2 is what I'm referring to here... You say how many times can we play the same thing over and over on the Wii with the same characters.. How many shooters, with different characters, slightly different stories can be played over and over on the 360/ps3? Gaming hasn't had a really good new idea in a long time. Cept maybe patapon.. but even then its not THAT diferent.

the majority of the public has cabled internet, no a small percentage of people have wifi hence why you can buy it seperately, and bluetooth on the ps3 has an issue of disconnecting from the console 2 feet way.

BTW: the ps2 didn't even have a modem, HDD, or 4 controller ports, making people buy them sepertly YET ITS BEEN SUSSESFUL FOR 8 YEARS, and the 360 will probably follow the same path since it has the largest game libarary like the ps2

THe PS2 is knocking on what is it 8 or 9 years. The game list is still growing. When MS has achieved the status that Sony has gotten with the PS2 then you can get back at me.

Blu ray has already beaten out HD DVD and since HD TVs are starting to penetrate household more and more people will start using a HD format, hence Blu ray.

Gaming/ Movie player, sounds like a deal to me. I haven't watched a single blu ray because well I don't care, but im sure some people will buy it for a Blu ray player and not pick up a single game. The opition is what poeple (the consumer) thrive on and the appeal of the PS3 is what people will buy.

THe blu ray won't help the PS3 short term. You are right. Theirs no way it can dominate the gen actually.

In the long term though you will see sales increase more and more. ( We are seeing it now) The big exclusives are coming and GT 5 Prologue and MGS bundles are outselling in some regions. I just think with all this success they will support it longer. Games are hard to develop for the console and take a long time.

The reason why I said the 360 is maybe because its used as a a gaming machine "only" .This is if we want to talk about the long term btw. I love gaming just as much as the next guy and I think Microsoft hit it dead on this gen, but I do see them switching it up trying to be a multi media device such as the PS3. Face it Microsoft loves money they want the consumers and they could have had them.

What are you talking about? The ps3 is doing awesome. Its beating the 360 by almost a million units so far this year during the Christmas hangover. It sold more in 2007 than the 360. GT5: P Bluray version is SOLD OUT in Europe. That much maligned "overpriced demo" everyone loves to bash. The MGS4 Japan bundle is SOLD OUT as well. PREORDER SOLD OUT. This year is looking crazy good for Sony and even the price cut in Europe may not help MS stem the tide.

Most likely the 360 because well, that's just how MS does things.

The PS4 will prolly be out in another 4-5 years, but the PS3 will prolly reamin on the market for another 4-5 after that.

Wii...Well, if there's anything we've learned from Nintendo, it's not to try and predict what crazy thing they do next.

Anyways, 10 years? No way. It might keep selling that long (with a lot of luck, I doubt the PS3 will be like the PS2 frankly), but I highly doubt they'll support it fully and not have released another console by then.
But this gen has been a surprise so far. Who knows?
