I was expecting the Xbox One to run away with this one, but now that it's been all but confirmed that the Xbox One does not in fact replace your cable box and basically just uses Kinect as a glorified remote control with multifunctioning capabilities, I'm just not sure. Which console do you think makes the best media player? Here's how I see it.
The Xbox One:
Pros: Blu ray, access to tv and internet all on the console on a single screen, HBO Go, Hulu+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, media on xbox live, smart phone compatibility
Cons: Kinect voice commands seem kind of lame, motion commands seem even worse, possibility of having to be a gold subscriber to access the functions
Playstation 4:
Pros: Blu Ray, PSN media, Netflix, Hulu+, Amazon Prime, Vita functionality (not sure about this one)
Cons: As far as I know, you will have to (gasp) use your tv remote to start watching tv. You also can't browse the web on the PS4 while you watch tv, and I don't think HBO Go has been confirmed.
Wii U:
Pros: TVii basically does everything Microsoft did on the Xbox One without having to use voice commands/arm waves. Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix are incorporated into the tv guide so you don't have to use separate apps for your digital services. You can browse the internet/chat with friends while watching tv without using tv real estate.
Cons: No Blu Ray, No HBO Go
