Before voting, notice that I highlighted the word GAME DEVELOPER. I did that because I don't want to get it confused with how much money one makes, what systems or platforms they've created, or publishing, or any other endeavors they partake in....once again, this poll topic is about GAME DEVELOPMENT only....thanks.

.

.

Now with that said:

Round 1.....fight.....and

Finish HIM!!!

Valve. Consistently good games, free TF2 updates, continued support even years after a game is released as well as having some killer deals on Steam. I would say right now Blizzard is the weakest on that list.

Blizzard, they dominate any field they enter, WoW became the best mmo, Starcraft the best RTS, and Diablo the best RPG

Hard to say. All three companies make some pretty damn good games. But, I have to go with Valve.

Bioware games don't really interest me, I have the greatest respect for them and their work but when I try to play through ME or DA:O I get bored :( yet at the same time I know and feel that they are good game. Guess RPGs with complicated loot/menus/long dialogs kill my attention span.

Valve games were fun but lack production values IMO. BTW I loved Portal and TF2, but HF2 was...meh(this statement does not apply to CS) *barricade from HL fanboys*

Therefore I decided to vote for Blizzard.

I've always loved Blizzard's games but at the same time I can't hold them in a high regard due to their blatant, BLATANT ripping off of Games' Workshop for much of their material in the Warcraft and Starcraft series.

Somehow I've made it this far into my life without playing a Valve game. It's not intentional... it just happened to go this way. I've long ago forsaken PC gaming (and I got rid of my PC altogether a year ago) so I doubt I'll really get into them in the future, as well.

BioWare to me makes great games, and I admit, I'm biased since they are a Canadian company (founded by med school graduates, too!). Mind you, they rarely deal in original IPs as well, but they do try. I have yet to try the Mass Effect series (since I have yet to jump into the current consoles) but if ME2 is as good as everyone makes it out to be, I guess then BioWare is getting better with executing their own IPs.

Steam only works on Windows. Valve only makes games and applications only for Microsoft Products. All there computer games only work on windows, and the only console they ever developed for was the xbox and xbox 360. The PS2 version of Half Life was developed by gear box while the xbox version of half life 2 was developed by valve. Now The orange box on PS3 was developed by EA and the 360 version was developed by Valve. So yeah they are a fanboy company.

There are my top3.

.

Very hard choice, Ill go with Bioware because I loved Mass Effect, but Mass Effect 2 is just to awesome and I cant stop playing it. Also, KoTOR was one of the games that delivered the greates moment I have in gaming.

.

Blizzard is awesome but I dont play a game developed by them since Warcraft 3 TFT... and Valve made Half Life, dont need to add nothing more.

Several years ago, I would have said Blizzard in a heartbeat. Their commitment to producing quality games is legendary... but they have not produced a new game since World or Warcraft. I've been waiting for another incredible single player experience since WarCraft 3 in 2002. Right around that time, Bioware stepped up their game immensely. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age and especially Mass Effect 2. Bioware is the best western RPG game developer and it's not even close.

I hope Blizzard will once again demonstrate, with Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, why they were the top PC developer of the 90s (and not just the best MMORPG developer).

Valve

why?

because they make the best FPS games hands down and are they are one of the few companies that support their games constantly and because custom content is so easy to make for the source engine and they have never made a bad game. steam also gives them points.

blizzard is second best because they also make excellent games and dominate the MMO and RTS genres, however now that Activision owns them (the new old EA) i like them a bit less and because of that ridiculous starcraft 2 packing thing (where 1 is the full game and two are expanions, yet the will most likely be priced the same.) also i dislike them because with the ridiculous amount of resources and time put into WoW i am pretty sure we could have diablo 3 or starcraft 2 by now.

third is bioware because even though they make good RPGs, i really dislike this thing where you get extra content for preordering their games and because the quality of games have slowly been declining. i hope their MMO is gonna be good

Bioware, without a doubt.

Give me Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Jade Empire, KOTOR, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights...hell, throw in that Sonic game they made for the DS, even...and let those games be all I could play for a couple of years, and I'd still be a happy gamer. Can't say the same for Blizzard's stuff, and especially not for Valve's. Just not my cup o' tea I guess.

Your missing my point. Look at Valves history they have never made a product on a non Microsoft product. There computer games don't work on Linux or on Macs. They never developed a games for the dream cast, PS2, Game Cube, and PS3, and when they do they start trash talking the product. Even to top it off the founder of Valve worked at Microsoft. There probably not fan boys, but they are bias. LTBlueNeon

Err, you're painfully screaming "I do not know anything about Valve" with this post, you may want to check their history and a bit of general marketing.

most games dont work on Macs (because of apple, not because of game developers) and i was always under the impression that valve games worked on linux based operating systems (linux is a kernel not an OS as you are treating it, get your facts straight, ubuntu is a linux based OS)

edit: yeah just checked, some source games do work on Wine or ubuntu. also they made half life 2 on PS2, so yeah get your facts straight AGAIN

Well if you judge based on their best, huge, revolutionary industry changing games... not just GOTY quality but GOTG quality...

Blizzard has: WoW, Diablo and Starcraft

Valve has: HL1 and HL2

Bioware: BG2

so the winner is...

NINTENDO: SMB, SMB3, SM64, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, LOZ, LOZ:LTTP, LOZ: OOT

Bioware doesn't really have any WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH YOU

Badlur's gate, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, Baldur's Gate 2 (considered even more influential)

NINTENDO: SMB, SMB3, SM64, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, LOZ, LOZ:LTTP, LOZ: OOT

Silenthps

fixed:

zelda OOT (and beyond) and metroid prime are great games, but not industry changing. RPGs still adhere dungeon and dragon rulesets and the CRPG style of bioware games like baldurs gate (which is definitely more influential ong games as a whole than zelda OOT and they both came out in the same year). metroid prime is fun but not revolutionary like HL1 or CSS was.

the word revolutionary is overused on this board

HF1 and CSS where no more revolutionary then OoT or MP

while they where nothing copared to mario64 who set the basics for how 3d gaming should work

or donkey kong who made the platforming genre

or Wolfenstain/Doom

Out of those 3? Bioware. But that isn't my top pick.
