Which rpg deserves GOTY 2011 ?

Amongst The Witcher 2 , Deus EX : Human Revolution , Dark Souls and Skyrim . Which game deserves GOTY 2011 ?

IMO ... The Witcher 2 deserves rpg GOTY 2011 as Demons Souls and Elder Scrolls already got GOTY previously .

Yakuza 4 and deus ex HR are my choices for best RPG of the year.

Which deserves GOTY? well.. i love me some yakuza... but its not a GOTY type game imo. I think only deus ex , dark souls, witcher 2 and skyrim are the only ones that have a chance of winning. But i like deus ex the most. But in all honesty i dont think any of the RPG's deserve GOTY.

I'm gonna say Skyrim and I've not even started playing it yet.

I agree with the witcher 2. Skyrim is great and all, but it's more of an improved oblivion. Witcher 2 raised the bar for its choice and consequence system and non-linearity in story telling. Plus it has some of the best npcs to date---(vernon roche, dethmold, foltest). It's also one those very few games without a villain who isn't your cut and paste "arrgh! I want to destroy humanity argggh!".

Skyrim seriously exceeded my expectations and maybe its because its still fresh, but right now I think I could award it with "RPG of the year" title (and Im known as Oblivion basher on these boards).

GOTY will not go to an RPG though, its between UC3 and Zelda...

For me The Witcher 2 is not only the best RPG this year, its the best game this GEN.

Dark Souls: Very good battlesystem/gameplay but bad multiplayer and covenants that focus on MP aspects, things you not care about when you wich there was no MP at all in the game.

Skyrim: Nice open world with freedom but with bad/boring battlesystem. UI/menu is terrible on PC

Witcher 2: When you complete it you feel kinda "was this all?game was just getting good and i just got this new gear". It feels to short, like a half game.

It's funny because the game is bound to have financial success, EA claimed it to have their highest preorder number ever

Now 6 weeks before its release, it's probably on its way to the highest preordered pc game ever. Possibly on par with WOW expansions.

I wish I could play Xenoblade Chronicles. From what I hear, it should win RPG of the year. It's advancing it's genre and it is funny that such a game would be on a regressive console like the Wii but here we are. The rest of the RPGs this year are very well made sequels to very innovative games (aside from Skyrim), but are not innovative themselves. Innovation isn't everything, but it's not like XBC is poorly executed either. If XBC wasn't tied to the wii's poor hardware and localization issues, I bet it would be a shoe-in for RPG GOTY if not GOTY overallGunSmith1_basic

I'm rooting for Skyrim or Witcher 2 to win. Me and Dark Souls arn't exactly on speaking terms right now. I hope that game rots in hell.
