Yep. Great game.

Dark Souls by a million times for me, perfect combination of open world, design, detail, art, combat, bosses, freedom in NPCs etc
Skyrim is a better Oblivion, nothing even close to Dark Souls design, bosses and combat
Witcher 2 has just one major boss and is too linear and limited to be considered a true WRPG, it is more like JRPGs and the most linear of them, you cant really go back to previous areas, which is rather sad, its combat and design are also simplistic comparing to Dark SOuls and has less variety too
I will be playing Dark Souls years after i have finished Witcher 2 and Skyrim, it is just a far more varied, exciting and fun game
[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]What happend ?I'm rooting for Skyrim or Witcher 2 to win. Me and Dark Souls arn't exactly on speaking terms right now. I hope that game rots in hell.

Maybe a save game bug? I'm just guessing since that's the only thing I could see someone totally doing a 180 on a game for.

Have you played it ? I have finished it and i could definatly not go back to any previous areas, after each chapter end
Unless i missed something ?
It is more linear even than old JRPGs like FF7-8-9, in which the world opened up eventually and you could go back to previous areas

Oh,you were talking about chapters. Nevertheless,it doesn't change the fact that you can go wherever you want in a chapter. The areas are quite big.[QUOTE="loosingENDS"][QUOTE="call_of_duty_10"] ROFL you can go wherever you want in TW2.call_of_duty_10

In any case, in Dark Souls i can go everywhere, in every single place at any time and do anything, kill any NPC etc, a true WRPG imo and not a story based JRPG like one
Great game, but nothing like Dark Souls
[QUOTE="loosingENDS"]ROFL you can go wherever you want in TW2. Yes but they are in small confined areas and the arears themselves don't give you much reason to explore them except for mabye to gian XP or look at the pretty visuals. With a game that looked soo good I was dissapointed at the lack of exploration and viratey within the environments.Dark Souls by a million times for me, perfect cpmbination of open world. design, detail, art, combat, bosses, freedom in NPCs etc

Indeed, they were hardly any secrets around and most areas were linear, while in Dark Souls i will probably be discovering exiting important secrets 2 years down the line
They added some funny "mini quests" of destroying a xxx number of nests of yyy monster, some of the most boring side quests of all time probably, only the lore and preparation to do them saved it somewhat

Maybe a save game bug? I'm just guessing since that's the only thing I could see someone totally doing a 180 on a game for.
Actually I got cursed and now my HP is halved. It totally broke up all progression of the game because now I gotta go through ****ing New Londo to cure it, which is causing me hours of needless frustration and tedium. It's nearly impossible surviving all the ghosts with half a health bar thanks to the ****ed up targeting, inconsistent hit detection, and the sheer overwhelming number of the ghosts. Plus I gotta deal with Darkwraiths and Drakes if I want to go the quick route, which are even worse. Game went from awesome to unbearably cheap garbage.[QUOTE="GD1551"][QUOTE="TheGuardian03"] What happend ?Master_ShakeXXX

You don't have to go to new londo, you can buy if from the witchlady in firelink shrine or buy it from that dude when you go downstairs after ringing the first bell. if you have troubles with the game, just google itI would have to say Deus Ex: HR too it was one of the few rpgs this year that didn't disappointFor me its a tie between Skyrim and Deus Ex: HR

It's a toss up between Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten and Skyrim for me right now. Granted, I just got Skyrim today, so I haven't invested much into it, but on the other hand I have only played Disgaea 4 for about 5 hours. I haven't gotten the opportunity to play Dark Souls yet, and I loved Demon's Souls, so I could only imagine that Dark Souls would rate high on my list.
to be honest Skyrim it has a mix of everything and caters to every playstyle and neither would i really call Zelda an RPG either.

Why not if Mass Effect 2 is one?

Mass Effect gets the 'Role' part of RPG right... It may be shallow on stats, but I don't see why stats alone = RPG, think we need more categories... I coin SPG! (stat playing game) it shall apply to all formally known as RPG's that fail at role and still have plenty of stats!However.... spg sounds like single player game, maybe. SAPG, Stat and Aesthetic playing game? or NPG, numbers playing game.

Lol very true, however, if RPG's do not need stats... Then it is a Role playing game? Then in that sense the genre becomes very broad. Imo if games like Zelda or GoW are Action Adventure games... Then would ME2 not be one? Please Log In to post.
