Poll Which series was better this gen? Saints Row or Grand Theft Auto? (46 votes)

Saints Row 35%
Grand Theft Auto 52%
Both 2%
Neither 9%
Another Open World Gangster game. 2%

Saints Row 1-4

Grand Theft Auto IV(Expansions), China Town, LCS, VCS, and GTA V

These have been the most successful open world gangster themed games out there. Not since True Crime NY which failed TC chance, has a series been this close and competitive with Grand Theft Auto, with millions of people claiming one is better over the other. These two are the definitive series of....

Speech is to long, cutting to the chase here, which was better for you? FOR ME Saints Row 1 and 2, Creamed all the GTA's around at the time with it being close with VCS being as good as it was. But Saints Row 3 and 4 have dropped the series and now remind me of Crack Down 2...................................... While GTA V only had one City and too much landscape.

I guess I would go with neither

Depends on what you like. I watched a buddy play some SR4 and it was crazy, dirty, funny. But I prefer GTA.

I've had more fun with Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV than I have with Grand Theft Auto.

Each has one game this gen and none touch Grand Tehft auto in popularity and sales.

I also can't add them because GS does not allow poll thread editing. I put that with having to refresh the page to post more than once in the same thread as stupid new GS decisions.

Maybe not, but you asked which is better, in my eyes, both Mafia and Just Cause are better than both GTA and SR. :)

IMO Volition are better at making sandbox games than Rockstar using both Red Faction: Guerrilla and Saints Row as examples. Rockstar games tell much better stories but are fairly self serious and don't always make use of the open setting to great effect.

Saints Row by a huge amount.

Not to add on too much, but I've only played SR3 compared to like three GTA games (Vice City, IV, 3). I also played SR3 for fewer hours than each of them and still feel that way.

Saints Row.

GTA 5 is fun though. Haven't messed too much with the online, but I had fun with the single player. With all that said I had more fun with Saints Row.

When you're asking a question on which one is better, "neither" or "both" should be used. Might as well ask "which one do you like or enjoyed" anyway, answering the question, GTA because saints row went down hill.

I haven't played SR2, I've only played SR3. And I liked playing co-op in that game with a friend. But that was about it: the story was terrible, the writing was bad, the characters were annoying, the mechanics were mediocre, mission structure was predictable--the whimsical thrills are fun for a few hours or so but it's not enough to carry the entire game.

I got sucked into GTA IV and V because of how immersive the open world is. I believe that if there's one thing Rockstar has proven this gen, it's that they are the masters at creating open worlds rife with detail and atmosphere. Both games have interesting stories with superbly written, multidimensional characters. Based on what I've played of Saint's Row I think it's safe to say the GTA games are on another level.

Saints Row is by far the superior sandbox game series, for sheer fun, gameplay, and variety. I did enjoy the story in GTAIV, and I like playing golf in GTAV: Golf Simulator.

I thought it totally sucked, you may well love it but it didnt hold my attention for very long at all. Might be worth a rent, beg, steal or borrow before you lay any money on it.

I like both. But GTA destroys SR in story and world setting.

GTA5 did nearly everything better than GTA4 and TBOGT was what GTA 4 should have been.

GTA 4 vs SR3 = SR3 wins by far

GTA 5 vs SR 4 = Not even close GTA 5 dominates it in all aspects

Alos SR4 was so much worst then SR3. Its like a mod. Really lazy cash in
