In fact it basically needs to be a Nintendo game before the mag gives it a 10 as there is only 1(?) non Nintendo title to receive the accolade. Are we saying that only Nintendo makes perfect games and only Famitsu has noticed this?

It didn't deserve a perfect score for many, many reasons. It may well be a good sim but it sure as hell isn't a perfect game even within its own genre.

Nintendogs IS one of the best games of all time, or at least one of the best-made games of all time. Just because you're insecure over the possibility that a casual game can be good doesn't take away from the pure quality of its construction and the addicting realism of its gameplay. Few other games are so perfect at what they are supposed to do, and that's what makes Nintendogs deserving of a perfect score.

Still I will be getting the game (SSBB, not Nintendogs :)) to see what all the fuss is about; even though I feel I won't be liking it that much. It seems waaay overhyped to me and I want to see for myself if I'm right on that.

One thing that might dissuade me from getting it would be if it turns out that the game is best controlled using a GC controller. If that's the case the game is major fail in my book and I'll stay away from it like the plague.

Yeah gamerankings has a total Nintendo bias as well. There top 3 games of all time are all Nintendo game. Basically it has to be a Nintendo game before it has a chance of being in the top 3, due to their extreme bias towards Nintendo.

The japanese really don't have that great of taste in games if you compare their favorite games to our favorite games, sure there are a few that are the same, like OOT, Super Mario Galaxy/64, and stuff. Personally, it's not my kind of game, but no other sim game is as realistic and at the same time enjoyable, and you'd be hard pressed to find any other game that's been embraced so wholly and enthusiastically by its target audience. If that's not a major criteria for receiving a perfect score, I don't know what is. You and I may not be part of that target audience, but that doesn't make it any less viable of an audience for a game to appeal to and be judged by.

That's because GameSpot tries to LOOK hardcore by practically making it a policy never to give out 10s anymore. They, like you, are so hung up on defining a 10/10 as "Perfect" that it's virtually unattainable now. I wouldn't be surprised if we NEVER see another 10 from GameSpot, simply because if they give another game a 10, fanboys will scream that they're selling out.

Have you even played Nintendogs? It is by far the most realistic sim of it's kind, It does what it is meant to do best the score it got is well deserving just because you are some insecure fan boy you thinks "kiddy" = the sux does not make it true.
