Really its only GS mostly that I trust they're views and prefrences usually line up with mine pretty closely. PTOM is a pretty good source but I find myself disagreeing with their reviews more often than I agree.
I look at a bunch and see what they actually have to say instead of just the MC score. Demos are terrible for me because they always feel just so removed from the actual game I can't get a good feel for them. Much rather play the game from the start then some splice.
I really cant trust reviews any more. I mostly check to see if a game is a complete buggy pos. Other then that I rent games to see if they are any good.
Review is just a opinion from a certain critic and in no way are their opinion completely the same as mine, sure maybe we agree on certain points but for the most part there will be some disagreement so I really don't have one that I cared the most for. To be honest a demo is a more reliable sources for me.
My opinion>>>>>>>>"critic"'s opinion (imo)
I don't really care about reviews I judge a game by my own.
Everyone. But i'm most interested in what they have to say, and not the scores they give. .Couth_
That right there. I'll use metacritic for the easy access to multiple reviews, but I'm using it to find reviews to read, not to put focus on individual or agregate numbers.
I use any reputable site. Bt in the end, I my decisions about buying a game soley on my own opinion of what I liked from videos and such.
[QUOTE="Couth_"]Everyone. But i'm most interested in what they have to say, and not the scores they give. I also think dedicated magazines like the Official PlayStation Mag are more credible than people give them credit for. People assume just because they are a Playstation Mag they will score exclusives high. It's actually the opposite. Since they only review PS3 games they are not worried about scoring the games in comparison with 360 games, and they generally give a game a deserving score.skinny_man_69Sure they do ;)It's pretty silly to think that they only score games to boost a games average on gamerankings. Which seems to be what most people think. They and their readers probably don't even know such sites exists. I'm sure they are more focused on their own credibility and giving their readers good material. If that means giving a Modern Warfare a higher score than a Killzone they will do it. And they do, do it often. After all they are both on the system and that's the bigger picture. They look at games on the system, not what happens to be on another one. They provide a good gamer point of view when it comes to reviews which I like. Not everyone out there is a fanboy or a stone critic.
I don't get them anymore but I used to get the old Official Playstation Mag (that would come with a demo disc) and the info they provided never steered me wrong to a game I didn't like. However some internet hype and hoopla has steered me to buy a couple games I didn't like. Which is why I don't care what a game scores. I look at the content and the impressions, then formulate my opinion on if it's worth my interest.
I agree, my opinion is the one that sways my money. But the GS review are fun because of the reactions in SW :)I only care about my opinion.

Yes there are games that get mediocre reviews but I rarely see a 2-3 score for a POS game in either mag. And big name exclusives always hold up well.[QUOTE="skinny_man_69"][QUOTE="Couth_"]Everyone. I don't, as stated by several other people it's my opinion that matters, which is why I don't like certain games but they get high reviews.

Obviously no one is going to agree 100% with every review they see on a site, but that doesn't mean reviews are useless for formulating an opinion on a game.

I merely used them to see the flaws and how well the game do in a specific area, but not for making my ultimate decision on how the game turns out.

They're not supposed to be this absolute authority on the quality of games like people here seem to think. They're just supposed to advise you on whether or not games are worth buying.[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"] That's not the point of reviews. None. I research my games, I can tell if I'm going to like it or not from gameplay videos, user reviews etc.siLVURcrossSo you don't use professional reviews in that research?
i'm surprised ppl actually care about site reviews, what about ur own opinion? it's not good enough?
More so than any particular site, I look for specific reviewers who tend to, in general, share my tastes in games.Having said that, most of reviewers that I like work at GS or Giant Bomb. My decision to purchase a game ultimately rests with my opinion, but I find reviews a valuable tool to make an informed decision.
The problem I have with IGN is that their written reviews sometimes do not match the score. Generally, in the synopsis of the review, they tell you how great the game is and then spend the rest of the review telling you about allthe flaws.
I find most user reviews the least reliable. You usually get 2 types of reviews for a game: 1) the obvious fanboy who tells you that the game is a '10' and is the Second Coming or, 2) the obvious troll who states that the game is equivalent to dog poop. Not to mention, the reviews are so poorly written, it is hard to tell what was good/bad about the game.
Gamefaqs user reviews. Take your time to read a few and you get a better impression than any of these gaming site journalists will give you.
I don't care for reviews much, but IGN's are pretty accurate most of the time.
G4's are also good (Except the fact that they are out of 5 Stars).
Only site I really look at for reviews and trust is IGN. Gamespot just seems off a lot of times so I don't trust any of the reviews here. I also read a lot of Game informer so I trust there reviews as well. Game trailers I like for the video reviews which I think are really great most of the time. Review scores don't really make me want a game any more or less, but what is discussed in the reviews is what I am mostly interested about. If the game has major flaws, I want to know about it and make sure that the sites that I go to for reviews will speak on certain things.
[QUOTE="Zero_epyon"][QUOTE="jimkabrhel"]This! ugh i hate demos I was skeptical about batman until i played the demo. Became a day 1 purchase in 10 mins.Demos>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>reviews.

Well, considering that the reviewer has played the game and you haven't, your opinion might be a little bit less informed.i'm surprised ppl actually care about site reviews, what about ur own opinion? it's not good enough?

i rather see what a site has to say about it before i go waste 60$ for a gane that suks....i'm surprised ppl actually care about site reviews, what about ur own opinion? it's not good enough?
