PS3 definitely gets top spot in that department. Wii would be second. The 360 has great functions, but are focused mostly on gaming (of course that's not a bad thing)

I'd say it's a toss up between the PS3 and 360. If you had asked this before CES, the award would have definitely gone to the PS3. But now with IPTV announced for the 360, everything has changed.

I agree with the Wii holding a steady second, but honestly feel as if the PS3 and 360 are tied for first....:)

Or Mac!

Can you download a demo, play uno, and listen to music from you computer on a PS3 or Wii? Not bashing, I'm actually very curious. I can watch a movie and download a demo at the same time. I don't know if other systems can do that.

Please let me know.

Xbox 360 for streaming. It's a Windows Media Center PC extender. It's an IPTV box. You can record TV through WMC extender... stream music into game (it replaces the game music with your music, best feature ever). Stream movies from your computer to your TV. Stream photos. Download demos. Download TV shows. Rent movies in SD and HD. Download movie trailers/video game trailers/ tv show trailers. Download extra content. HD-DVD drive as an option is also really cool for the people that want it, and for the people that don't they are not forced to pay for the drve like the ps3.

Edit... forgot to add the following...

Friends List, private chat (no matter what you are doing), voice message, video message, photo message, video chat, video chat incoporated into games ex. Uno, join a friends online game no matter what you are doing and what game you are in, sending game invites, going on xbox.com while on your computer to see who's online, chat with cell phone to xbox live users.

360 has the best multimedia functions.

thatd be SICK.

anyways, i say the 360=ps3 cause 360 does things better, but ps3 has a glitchy half ass internet browser, so it evens out.

I have a question about the streaming. I use it to stream my music, but do movies have to me in .wmv format? If I put a .mpeg or anything in the "My Video's" folder, nothing shows up on my 360.

This just shows me what dominates SW.  How can anyone argue that PS3 is not the better multimedia console.  Out of the box it plays 1080p blu ray movies via HDMI, plays HD games, has free online, compatible with variety of blu ray headsets, blu ray keyboard and mouse and free online browser.  The 360 needs addon to play HD movies via VGA, HD DVD movies (the losing format with fewer movie studio variety), and online after gaming after paying for it.

There is no way 360 is the better one.

I can stream any movie/anime/tv-show I want from a number of different sites on my PS3, download demos, watch porn, play Blu-Ray discs, add/subtract people onto/from my friends list, play CDs, make my own mixes of songs, share photos, connect a bluetooth or usb keyboard and mouse for ease of multimedia use, etc.  All at no extra cost to me.

I think the fact that streaming movies/anime/tv-shows/porn exist on websites and you can access these using the PS3's browser pretty much sums up why it beats the competition.  IPTV can bow down to what already exists on the web.

Spag1091
I don't believe u. I have a hard time believing it's that seamless. I mean, if I want a multimedia machine with a kayboard and mouse, I'll use my iMac. I don't want to use a keyboard and mouse on my console. Can you download a demo, play a game, and listen to streamed music at the same time on a PS3?

I know on the PSP that if you're on the music section, and leave it, the music stops.  Is that true also with the PS3?

This is actually a good case for what each company is about.  With the PS3, it's tech.  They put a blu-ray drive in it, claim superiority in media b/c of the higher tech.  MS is about FEATURES.  They're about taking media features and perfecting them for the best user experience.  I mean, for crying out loud, to repeat myself: you can't create a playlist with the PS3...that's pathetic.

The browser isn't really an issue... MCEBrowser is a plug-in for media center so you can surf the web on your 360 using your media center remote, so you have access there if you need it.

Watching/Recording/Pausing live tv (HD or SD) though the 360... i love it, also cause its from the PC... i can use plugins to make the picture clearer/sharper etc, whatever i like

Streaming mpeg/wmv/mp3's through the 360 ? love it, straming my music in-game... love it

and i dont need to use the small-(beep) 360 drive at all to do any of it :P hehe

Saves me from buying a standalone DVD Player looking Media Center unit to sit nexto my TV, saves me buying a DVD Recorder unit as i can use my PC to record/pause/play live tv and burn to a dvd with 4 clicks using the DVD Movie Maker (ok this isn't the best software to use if you know what your doing, but if you DONT... its great to make menus etc in the touch of a button)

Coupled with IPTV services and the HD-DVD addon...

Well there is just so much more on the 360 in that respect i think

Well why not create a multimedia feature comparason ? show all features that are supported and comparative support... then there can be no whinging right?

like:

PS3: Blu-Ray, 360: HD-DVD

PS3: Nothing, 360: Play/Pause/Record Live TV in HD/SD

PS3: Surf the web, 360: Surf the web
Note: PS3 does this better with KB/M support... dont think MCEBrowser allows this

PS3: Nothing, 360: Streaming Movies/DVD's from PC

PS3: Nothing, 360: Stream your own music (in-game or out)

PS3: Nothing, 360: IPTV

etc...

well to be fair, windows XP is also pretty lame and quite awful.

and BLU ray is looking like its proving itself at the moment and analysts predict it will be set to fully take control of the format war in 2009 with HD DVD being used as a transition item while Blu Ray is researched more
