We all know its PS3.

but since lemmings own this forum of course they are going with 360

Tails10

Why?

blu-ray, linux and all that sh**

An unproven format and a rag-tag operating system. What does linux do for you that makes it superior to other consoles? Seriously, don't give me junk answers. Give me educated nuggets of joy.

well to be fair, windows XP is also pretty lame and quite awful.

and BLU ray is looking like its proving itself at the moment and analysts predict it will be set to fully take control of the format war in 2009 with HD DVD being used as a transition item while Blu Ray is researched more

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.aspx?NewsId=19682

2009 is a long ways away. Why get the cheapest blu-ray player on the market now (at 600 DOLLARS) when you could wait until 2009, and get them for about a sixth of that? And yes, I totally agree with you that XP is lame, and I'd add Vista to that, too. Regardless of "whats' set to take control of the format war", it hasn't yet, and nobody can truly know until HD-DVD is no more, as in, we see a press release that reads, "HD-DVD Throws in the Towel to Blu-Ray". And in the event that does happen, I'd imagine we'll see a blu-ray addon for the 360.

i dont think we will see an Add on for blu ray on 360. 360 has been throwing out a few digs at sony later, if they had to introduce a blu ray add on, it would mean they'd have to give Sony Royalties which would be a pretty big and pretty huge slap in the face for them.

It's quite an easy question to ask.

OUT OF BOX - the PS3 wins.

PUT SOME EFFORT INTO IT - the 360 wins hands down.

Wii - you get what you pay for, which isn't much.

I'm talking about the massive amount of media available using the Browser on the ps3. All the websites you can access that have high quality streaming video for free, based out of other countries to avoid any legal issues and whatnot. The fact that there is just that one web browser available to you using the PS3 opens up a plethera of multimedia options. (I'm only discussing the browser here, not stating it as if it's all the PS3 offers, refer to my previous posts for that info.)

But this kind of thing is readily available on a computer. Why is this special on a console?

It just seems like the easy way out. "Give it the ability to surf the net". Even the Dreamcast could do that. I think Internet browsing on a console is a little silly. Why is it important on a console when you have you computer?

Does everyone just ignore my posts? do i need to add some fanboy ranting to be heard? lol lets try some caps

You CAN use a WEB BROWSER on the XBOX 360

The PS3 having it built in is a + and -

PS3:
+KB/M support to make surfing alot quicker and eaiser
+No Extra Support Needed
-If any 'hacks' are avilable and the machine gets infected... well ya pretty screwed
-Not a fully supported browser

360:
-MCEBrowser doesn't use KB/M support unless the Extender allows, again i dont *think* 360 lets you use the support keyboard
-Needs a Media Center PC
+Its all streamed meaning its actually surfing on the PC not the 360... so if your PC gets infected its at least easy enuf to re-install and of course there is 100's of applications designed for protection
+Uses a fully supported browser, IE (even if its not 100% standards compliant)

Did i miss anything?

I read your post, I was just getting info on why people were saying one thing or another. I think the 360 supports a keyboard already, but don't quote me. I just don't like "hit and run" posting. I appreciate thought out discussion.

Well at least someone read it lol, and yea the 360 certianly supports a keyboard... but i dont if that support is extended for use through media center while the 360 is in 'media center extender mode'. I might have to try it one day... i just dont like surfing on the console i like my little custom setup i have on my PC heh

I agree. I use my iMac for computer things, and my 360 for entertainment/gaming things. I'd rather listen to my music through my home stereo than my computer speakers. I'd rather watch movies on my 27" tv than my 17" monitor. Same goes with photos (unless I'm editing, of course).

Its certainly not bad, but i dont have a wireless network... (yea im using good old cables) so i havn't been able to hook up my Wii to the net sadly :( ..... no lan port makes me a sad panda

But i guess i should upgrade to wireless one day, just dont wanna spend the cash quite yet. Two PCs a 360 and a Wii with a new Wireless Access Point isn't going to be cheap

PS3 is released here in march... at least it has it built in i guess

Yea, I was pretty disapointed that they didn't include an ethernet port on the Wii - however, you could always pick up a Wii ethernet adaptor from Nintendo. You could also pick up a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector - though, it would probably be more cost-efficient to just pick up a router.

PS3. Reasons.

-Can Run almost every format Out there

-Can Install more or less every operating system. Want to Play Nintendo Games? Get an emulator and run it.

-Best Blu Ray drive on the market. According to Sound and Vision magazine and numberous other sources

- HDMI/Component for every type of connection

-Has Its own built in browser, wifi, blah blah blah

-And extremely quiet
