Out of all the upcoming games this year, which, according to you, have the potential to set the world aflame with their awesomeness? Remember, by revoutionary, I don't mean innovative or something I've never seen before. I mean something that is awesome to an unprecedented extent.

I couldn't list all the games, so please don't start with the"Fail thread, no Uncharted/Deus Ex/Blah Blah" comments. If you want to vote for a game that isn't on the list, just vote for "Other" and mention the game you wanted to vote for in your comment.

Battlefield 3 I think. Not getting the game myself, but I still see on how some will find it revolutionary.

Guild Wars 2 could end up being something huge. The fact that is doing away with the traditional holy trinity is certainly getting me excited. And I think the holy trinity is for most of the part a bane to actual teamwork. But at the same time, it also has the potential to really fall flat on its face. But there is more than just the lack of the holy trinity, it also has active dodging and such, enemy behaviour changing on whether it is on land or underwater, world PvP that actually matters (pretty uncommon for themepark mmos), skill limit, dynamic events and a personal storyline.

However other promising games are out there, Red Orchestra 2 looks in my opinion a lot more interesting than Battlefield 3 (which is saying something) and King's Bounty Legions could end up completely awesome, it is a facebook game that looks to have more depth than 90% of all console games.

I really hope GW2 is successful because it is really, really trying to shake up the MMO formula. I've been playing WoW for 2-3 years now and it's becoming extremely stale. That wouldn't be a problem, except no MMO experience even touches it yet, so all my friends online are basically forced to play to get together and do stuff in big groups. GW2 is removing or replacing systems that are incredible faults with the current formula.

No leveling curve, no holy trinity, tons of content with little grinding, dynamic questing system, interesting story, great art and scale, custom equipment, unique non-punishing death system, reward for all players based on contribution, no monthly fee, etc. etc. etc.

Developers just pump out very mediocre MMO games right now because they think that they need to be WoW to be successful at all. I hope GW2 is successful so devs see that being creative and unique within the genre is preferred.

I like the sound of Dead Island. A free roaming RPG with zombies and tons of melee combat. I don't think it will be the best game coming out in the near future, but I think it will be the most unique.

I'm going with Dark Souls. Demons Souls really shook things up and while I didn't take to the formula I can easily see why it got the scores and praise it did.

As good as all of those listed above may turn out to be, can we really say that any of them will be revolutionary and innovative, no matter how hyped you are for them? Battlefield 3, pretty it may be, is nothing truly revolutionary, it is just another modern day cinematic military FPS, Skyrim is the same as Oblivion with less of the flaws and more elements from Bioshock 2 with weapon and magic combination stuff, Arkham City is Arkham Asylum but open world, Skyward Sword is Ocarina of Time with more motion controls and birds, Mass Effect 3 is just ME2 with some bells and whistles from ME1, Gears and Uncharted, and hopefully a better story, Uncharted 3 is more Uncharted 2, Dark Souls is more Demon's Souls, AC Revelations is Brotherhood plus Turkey (the country) and fire, MW3 is the exact same thing as MW2, to the point of just being another map pack, Gears 3 is just more Gears, it doesn't innovate, per se. If I was to give it to one of them, I'd say either RAGE (depends, it could innovate or it could just be a mix n' match of the best bits of Fallout 3 and Borderlands, Deus Ex Human Revolution, for it's multipath gameplay, choice and consequence and generally stuff that, in retrospect, had already been done by the first Deus Ex or The Witcher 2, or Bioshock Infinite, for incorporating horror into daylight like The Shining in gaming, and having a storyline that's almost as hard to follow as FFVII's .

Those games are all hyped to be the second coming of Christ, so if anything they're all likely to disappoint no matter how good they are.

I'd say Arkham City, though, since it's got the least impossible to live up to hype, I suppose.

Well I can tell you that Battlefield 3 is definately not revolutionary. A modern War-based FPS has been done a million times before. Nothing new.

I don't play MMOs, but all you have to do is read about Guild Wars 2 to know it's going to be a game-changer if successful. No monthly fees and a completely reworked MMO experience? Could affect the MMO market for years to come.

Guild Wars 2 is no doubt going to completely change the landscape of MMOs. Not having it on the poll is a crime. As good as those games on the poll will be, none of them will do anything revolutionary.

Skyward Sword is another Zelda. An awesome game that adds a few things to the formula, but it'll still be Zelda. Skyrim will be another Elder Scrolls, huge sandbox will hundreds of hours of play. Nothing new there. Battlefield 3 is a multiplayer focused FPS. Sure, it looks amazing, but it's contemporary first-person shooter. We've seen them. A lot of them. And Arkham City, so far, looks like Arkham Asylum with an open world. Nothing revolutionary, but that doesn't mean it won't be really, really great.

There are a lot of great-looking (likely fun) games releasing later this year, but I don't know if any are revolutionary in the way you described. Skyrim will probably be the most satisfying overall, though the past games tend to get a little boring after a while, but something about them makes you want to keep going back and play anyway. Batman: Arkam City will probably a great beatem up. Hopefully the level design is good and there are plenty of puzzle elements inbetween tearing the crap out of the bad guys. Other than that, Rage looks pretty good. If it's true and it runs at minimum 60fps for each platform (and consistently) at that, then we're looking at a great, smooth experience. Hopefully it's fun, too. Dark Souls, haven't looked too much into it, though I'm sure it'll be greatly loved. It's really hard to say. Gears of War 3 will probably sell a ton of 360s during the holidays.

Guild wars 2 has the potential. If GW2 can dethrone WoW then that would be pretty legendary IMO and it has every chance to since it has no monthly subscriptions and the game looks a lot better. Lets hope ArenaNet dont screw up the games launch, the first few weeks are a crucial time for any MMO, first impressions and all that.

Revolutionary? None

Zelda will probably be the best motion control based game ever made

Battlefield will probably have an fantastic engine that allows for awesome effects and destruction.

Batman will probably be similar to the UC2 series, in the way that it combines know elements from other games and delivers it in one great package.

I'm tempted to say Serious Sam 3, only because the idea of an arcade-style shooter would be considered revolutionary when juxtapositioned with a bunch of Call of Duty clones.

None of them. Even if you don't mean innovative, the word "revolutionary," implies flipping the genre on its ear. No sequel is going to do that. Even Uncharted 2 to was simply an evolution of U: DF.

Of all the upcoming games that I am aware of, I think TLG has the best chance for being revolutionary. But, we'll see.

Edit: It's not that I think sequels can't be revolutionary. OoT and Super Mario 64 were, after all. But those were new entries in new gens that had the benefit of being some of the first 3d games that many of us would ever play. I don't see any upcoming games coming in with that kind of advantage right off the bat.

A lot of games are mind blowing, but not all mind blowing games take the world by storm. Revolutionary was the closest word I could find. If you want to nitpick and not stay o topic, I'd rather you don't post at all.

I'd have to say that the little-known games are the more revolutionary games.
