I played Bioshock not too long ago and am now playing Bioshock and the story and blood everywhere seems very familar. It makes me want to experience bioshock again in third person and dead space in first. I was skeptical of how a third person shooter would be done, but dead space is great. It's funner to watch someone play than bioshock, that's for sure.

And the freaks in bioshock were a bit more human, just crazy and that was pretty intense. Dead Space had the better sound imo, you never felt like you were safe until the creepy music stopped playing.

It's like asking "Whose a better director: Uwe Boll or Ed Wood?"

There is no winner.

They're both great games, but neither of them was scary in the slightest.

Bioshock was creepy, but not scary. But Dead Space was both creepy and a scary.

Bioshock was all about atmosphere. I was often creeped out by that game, but never scared. Dead Space scared the **** out of me on multiple occassions

I didnt really find bioshock scary at all. Dead Space had me not wanting to enter some rooms because I was worried about dying, I never really felt "scared" though. Resident Evil Remake...Still probably the scariest game for me. Weird I know.

haven't played dead space yet, but bioshock wasn't scary at all. Even resistance 2's levels were scarier (with all the hatchling things in Idaho where the levels were dark as hell) than Bioshock. So I guess dead space automatically wins :P

Got more scared by BioShock. Can't believe I'm the only one.. Dead Space is filled with lots of "a monster jumps out from the corner right in front of you-scares", but those aren't very scary. If they were, Doom 3 would win. :P

once you've played the Fatal Frame series (NOW THAT is a scary game), you can handle anything. That being said, Dead space was creepier.

I could see BioShock being scary to a 5 year-old... but Dead Space is clearly the scarier game. But that isn't saying much.

Personally, FEAR is the single scariest thing ever.

Condemned 2 is 2nd, and it has a trippy factor unexplanable other than, "ERJOBAEORNBOPAERLAMNERMNTMRGIANTFUGGINBEARFGNPKS"

But Fallout 3's Dunwich building was freaky, as was, ready for it... 343 Guilty Spark.

Bioshock wasn't really a scary game. Now if you want a scary game similar to Bioshock, then get System Shock 2. It is basically what Bioshock is based one, but so much better. There are some graphical mods out there that up the textures and such, but I still play it with the original graphics... adds to the mood.

I'm yet to finish Dead Space but I'll go with that. That said I didn't find either particularly scary. Hell, I laughed most of the time throughout Bioshock because of the Splicers, I have no idea why so many gamers found it that scary to begin with. In the scary atmosphere department, the SS series were definitely better.

Was bioshock even meant to be scary?

I jumped a couple of times during Dead Space...but it really wasn't scary. For some reason I seem to remember the original resident evil being insanely scary....I think that had more to do with me being young though.

So Dead Space for me, although is not really scary.

I have a (then) 19 year-old friend who, no joke, had to have his mother in the room to play through Bioshock.

So yeah, he'd totally disagree with me when I say that neither game were particularly scary, especially when compared to System Shock 2, which heavily influenced both of them.

Bioshock ceased to be scary once you realized death holds no real consequence by the game's own cannon. Also, it was never genuinely scary. Dead Space does a better job but it's not exactly the scariest game either.

From what I've played of Dead Space, I agree with this. Bioshock was more psycologically haunting, which I prefer, but not exactly scary...

Both didn't really provide that scare factor that should of been there. Bioshock was more weird and freaky more scary of all things, while Dead Space had some scary moment during the first few chapters but after that it was just random popups that didn't do much for the game. Though I did got worried when it was a swarm of enemies but that is all.
