Yea pretty much how I imagined it, looks cool none the less.
I agree, the thing we can't tell from vids though, especially since they are in Japanese, is what exactly is going onUgh. That video is what killed my hype for WKS.
A video showing an unfinished game killed the hype for you?
Yeah, just like it did for Too Human and Lair.
There are some things that you can tell won't work just by watching a video. When a game fails to match up with what was initially promised, and when the company starts to hype features that aren't just not being demonstrated, but contradicted in their demos, something's wrong. Not saying that this describes WKS, but the TGS videos of WKS definitely started to move in that direction.
Core mechanics are rather easy to determine from a video, and it's also easy to imagine how much fun you'd have playing a game with those mechanics. It's not enough for a full evaluation of the game, of course, but it IS enough to decide whether to get hyped up or not. From the TGS videos, WKS just isn't doing it for me anymore.
Still, gameplay wise, its probably the most advanced JRPG out there that weve seen so far. And everybody knows JRPG's arent played for the combat
What? In what way? So far it looks no better than FFXII. Actually,FFXII probably has a head up on it, since FFXII actually seems to blend elements of real-time and turn-based RPG gameplay successfully to make a game greater than the sum of its parts, while WKS seems to use a contrived "hit the button at the right time" timing system.
But their movement and animations looks solidly good!
Im sure they are going to add other battle systems in there, seeing as how the game is far from finished.
