Heres some gameplay vids for both of them:

Lost Odyssey

White Knight Story

ultima-flare
That's a rather poor comparison, considering that WKS "gameplay" is only simulated trailer gameplay, whereas the Lost Odyssey gameplay is from a build of the game less than 10% completed.

The combat is boring lost odyssey.  However, when walking around in the city it looked pretty interesting but the combat is just boring.

White knight story is going to blow this game away so is FF13 if it ever gets released.

Oh bull. WKS looks like a generic cel-shaded JRPG. Lost Odyssey employs the talents of an award-winning novelist, an award-winning artist, an award-winning composer, and an award-winning game developer. You do the bloody math.mjarantilla
Are you kidding me? leaving aside for a moment that it simply LOOKS better than lost odyssey the Combat is actually real time. Not just that but it actually feels like real combat (for the first time ever) with realistic movements and realistic impacts when a sword strikes a shield. In comparison LO is just lame, a mediocre Final Fantasy style batle system. Crappy animations and an effeminate lead. Count me out of the B grade crap

I'm looking forward to both of these games but I'm anticipating WKS more. The combat system is something new & looks more intriguing to try out. But the story and graphics of LO seem awesome at this point also though so it should still be worth checking out.

Who cares if the combat is real-time? Real-time combat lacks a lot of the strategic depth that turn-based combat offers. That's why the greatest strategy games in the world are all turn-based. Turn-based requires real skill, not automation, and more than that, turn-based combat gives the developers the ability to maximize the difference of scale within battles. And so what if the game has realistic movements? Remember, Lost Odyssey was only 10% finished at TGS and it was a REAL-TIME DEMO. WKS only has a pre-scripted trailer, and even then, KotOR had "realistic sword impacts" before WKS. Don't judge a book based solely on its cover, don't just movie based solely on a script, and don't judge gameplay based solely on a trailer. Who's to say that Lost Odyssey, by the time it comes out, won't have super-realistic movements and attacks similar to what we saw in the trailer?

I'm pretty frustrated that people still think Lost Odyssey's gameplay was complete and shown in full at TGS, yes.

why is everyone worried about white knight story graphics?  Any big name game for the ps3 should have very good quality graphics after all, all the footage you see from MGS4 is all in game graphics even if is cineamatic it will be the exact same just like past mgs games.

What gameplay? I don't see any gameplay. None at all. All I see is a sequence of pre-scripted animations in a trailer. Maybe it's run in real-time using the game's graphics engine, but it sure as hell isn't "gameplay" yet.

WKS has great graphics. Lems/cows are just spoiled for realism. Apparently they've lost all appreciation for art style.

Doesn't mean it can't flop. I'm more interested in Lost Odyssey than White Knight. Haven't heard much about White Knight though.

Dam that is a hard f-in games to choose from. Graphically LO is more impressive and i love turn based battles but for some reason i think white night story will transend rpgs. I will be getting LO first day of release but if Whit night story is anything like there showing i just might invest in a ps3 for that game alone.

I care, when it's incorporated as well as it has been shown to be in WKS. Seriously that's the most impressive real time mele combat i have ever seen. You are right in saying it sacrificies complexity but having seen both combat engines in play i know which one i'd prefer, and which looks more enjoyable. In terms of the combat itself, WKS looked leagues ahead. It wasn't just attack-wait attack. The enemies were eacting in real time and improvisng whenever possible, same goes for the allies. the fact that you could team up to beat down enemies was amazing

Being an owner of a PS3, and a 360, I am anticipating both, but White Knight Story (Shirokishi Monogatari) just looks a hell of alot more appealing to me as far as my personal tastes go. I think they will both be great games though, and both seem to be right up my alley.

have you guys seen lost odyssey gameplay.....its a borefest

http://youtube.com/watch?v=KMSL_bM3N7I

mjarantilla

I am sure for 2 years now, all they do is polish the graphis and the box art, it is 100% sure that that demo is the only gameplay the game has !!!

Ok, we are at system wars, but some people make me feel like a complete idiot, simply because i can't find anything to say to them, when they call a demo that was just to show a general idea of the game, and nearly NOTHING of the gameplay a ...borefest

It is like seeing one battle of FF12, now man, THAT would be boring, what you would see is 4 NPC's move toward the monster and start hiting it, would that mean that FF12 is crap in gameplay ? No OF COURSE

well judging from what i have seen its a borefest until then well just have to see.

Why don't you judge every game while it's still only 10% complete, why don't you?

This topic is about judging games that arnt yet complete soooo im just stating my opinion about which AS OF RIGHT NOW looks better and WKS looks much better then LO.

White Knight was nice until the hero became a ..transformer !!! Anyway, i LOVE both games, but the edge goes by far to Lost Odyssey, the story, charatcers, and visuals are really incredibly better, i just can't wait for that game, i might try White Knight at some (cheap) point though, in 2009 Plus we have seen not how Lost Odyssey is now, all we see is 2 years old pics from that old demo, they confirmed now looks better than Gears in graphics, so White Knight as good as it might look, would be easilyl destroyed by LOgreg_splicer

That was the best part. You know what would be dope. If their where like other knights. Like the Blue Knight, Red Knight , Gray Knight and they all had their elemental powers and that was implemented into the gameplay. That WOULD be fun. Plus their's already two knights. The white Knight and the evil villian the Black Knight.White Knight Story FTW

Graphically Lost Odessy. Artistically WKS.waynehead895

I think character models in LO are better, but WKS is better overall (environments, animations, gameplay).

But it was a trailer of Gameplay, and it did look leagues ahead of ANY JRPG (including lost odyssey). The thing with lost odyssey is that they could feasibly add a whole load of filler animation and make it look similar,. But WKS looked amazing because the enemies were reacting in real time and the battles looked like real battles. Little touches like one of your guys holding someones arms while you laid into them and the actual clang when a sword struck a shield were waht made this game. The combat actually looked and felt like combat not just an approximation of combat. characters would actually recoil from a heavy blow and improvisation was taking place everywhere. That was what i was expecting from next generation titles with some power behind them not just pretty graphics. also the transformer bit was retarded

No, what you saw in the video was gameplay. Level 5 has talked about how they're incorporating their new animation system into the gameplay. They've established their own animation studio just for that purpose. And you can see the player pausing the game and selecting options for chain moves (i.e. FFXII's gambits)

1. We have seen NOTHING of LO gameplay, just a 2 years old demo  only so far

2. WKS is set to move on a given path, with the camera following you, and you can't move left or right too much, so what EXACTLY does it have in common with Oblivion ? It has more in common with PS1 crash bandicoot or Wii Dragon Swords, plus the gameplay was a joke, some people fought, when the others look at them waiting their turn, WOW how next gen can that be

Finally we agree, the boss battle was what made the game bad for me, the hero is a .. .tranformer toy
