I had it and installed it and then uninstalled it. I had to reformat my gaming machine because of that useless GoldenEye Mod. Since I get a free copy of Vista Business from school through the MSDN program, I installed Vista on my gaming rig. Installtion went very smooth. Driver installion was hell. Audigy 2 Vista driver and logitech set point would not install. Computer would freeze up everytime. Got fed up with it and went back to XP.

EDIT: WOW, way to blow it DUKE!

I'm not buying it until they fix the majority of the bugs. Oh and to the people who say "who buys software?", it's worth BUYING an OS because of the updates/patches you get for it and they only work if you have a legit copy of it.

I'm running it now.  I really like it.  Just make sure you are running name brand components and the companies have updated drivers for Vista.

From what I hear OS 10.5 won't be that much better. Apple is forcing me to upgrade since they will not let you update any mac software that is running on OS 10.2. Need 10.3 or greater.

I don't see a need for it until I buy a DX10 video card, so far now XP is still OK.  Probably buy it soon, though.

I can get it dirt cheap from my school, so I have it but don't use it due to the poor driver support.  When I installed it my vid card, sound card and mouse didn't have driver support and were running on bare bones built in windows drivers.  By the time all the DX10 games come out i'm sure there will be a lot better driver support so ill use it then.

I got it and like it for the most part. I was not planning on getting it but when I built my new comp I had tossed out my old case that had the code on it for XP. No local retailers sold XP once Vista can out so I was SOL. Only one crash so far. Just wait until SP1 comes out and takes care of most of the bugs but its not really bad as it is now.

I am running Vista home premium. There were some driver issues and some other things that needed tweaking but now everything is working fine. I would really say Vista needs 1 GB RAM at the MINIMUM and would recommend at least 2. At 2gb everything is running nice.

LOL, you don't "upgrade" to a MAC. MACs are inferior, they are weaker and barely any games and programs are available on them.

Heard this from more than 1 person, one of them being a Canon service technician, another being a good friend of mine who works at Futureshop (major Canadian tech box store), and I can vouch for his tech savvy, I trust his insight. Some might regard this as a wild rumor, and sure it may sound like one, but keep in mind this is from the same people that implemented Activation Codes. I'm fine for now with my XP machine, don't know what I'll do in 4-5 years when I buy a new computer :|

Well I got it free since I bought my computer on November, it just arrived to me last week. I still haven't installed yet because I want to put more ram, it's also not compatible with Tribes so I'm thinking dual-booting.

LOL, you don't "upgrade" to a MAC. MACs are inferior, they are weaker and barely any games and programs are available on them.

You are a very uninformed user. Mac's for the longest time have been more stable and reliable than Windows. They aren't prone to crashes, freezes, or just those odd unexplainable glitches - like one day an app is working fine, the next its all buggy or just plain won't load. Macs are worry free of viruses, trojans, and spyware. And it's not just that there are hardly any viruses written for Macs, the OS architecture itself - which is built on UNIX that makes it so stable - is also what makes it more secure from attacks. Now it may be true that the game selection isn't as large as for Windows PCs. Macs DOES have some games, and the library is growing, but yes, still not near what you get on PC. Then again there ARE people who *GASP* DON'T use computers for games. And for that, you are very very very VERY wrong about "barely any programs available on Macs". For everything else, you can find a wide assortment of apps of all the different types - video editing, illustration, photo editing, web design, audio editing, tax accounting, 3D animation, and yes, the entire MS Office suite is available for Mac. But then there's the same free alternative as what you can get for Windows and Linux - the Open Office Suite, a clone of the MS suite that reads and saves in all the popular formats (Word, Xcel, PPT), and duplicates the interface you're already familiar with, so there's no learning curve to worry about, and available for free, LEGALLY free. Other than games, Mac users are wanting for nothing.

That is true but it's only expected. When I went from Windows ME to Windows XP my computer only had 128MB and Windows XP needed at least 256MB so I spent over $80 and bought another 2 sticks of 128MB (3-4 years back). More functionality comes with a price, but if your computer doesn't have high specs then I agree, XP would be better.

I got it through power together and I love Vista. It has room for improvement but by far the best windows OS at launch. The only problem is that it uses a little too much memory. Everything else is acceptable since it's still very early, the drivers from ATI and nVidia haven't had time to mature yet.

Also, Mac users can use bootcamp to have XP, or even I think Vista Ultimate on a separate partition to play games that are only available to play on Windows. So Mac users have got a great OS, and the possiblility of gaming to the extent PC users do.
