Well according to most people here I'm either 5 years old or a soccer mom. I can assure you I'm neither :P
To answer your question, all types of the demograph are buying the Wii.
Gimli524
ur a minority
SW will tell you that only little kids and soccer moms are buying the Wii. I beg to differ, though.--ProtoMan--
thats the majority of the sales. Its true of any console that wins a console generation. If the sales were mostly hardcore gamers then where the hell were they last gen, they certainly weren't supporting the Gamecube. And for that matter, where the hell are all the hardcore PS2 owners, they should have bought a PS3? Oh wait, most of those sales were casuals as well and they have no brand loyalty or even a need/want to buy another console necessarily.
hmmm lets get deeper. Who wants to break it down to percentage?
For example
70% nintendo fans 25% children(new gamers) 5(old/older poeple)

On SW maybe but in the real world, you know the important one, you are the minority.[QUOTE="--ProtoMan--"]SW will tell you that only little kids and soccer moms are buying the Wii. I beg to differ, though.NavigatorsGhost

Sorry, I wasn't really clear... My point was that there are (believe it or not!) people who own and Wii and actually know a thing or two about video games--whereas SW would claim that nobody with half a brain would ever go near one.

Of course. Heaven forbid anybody would actually LIKE Nintendo's games!

Exactly. More often than not, those mindless brutes are actually the casual ones that mistakenly think HD graphics make games hardcore[QUOTE="--ProtoMan--"][QUOTE="NavigatorsGhost"][QUOTE="--ProtoMan--"]SW will tell you that only little kids and soccer moms are buying the Wii. Obviously not a hardcore Sony fanboy like you who prostrates to Kaz Hirai daily, but here's some ideas
- Nintendo fans
-Casuals
-People who already own or are planning to get a 360/PS3
- Gamers on a budget
- Cows who feel alienated by Sony's failure with the PS3/PSP
-Lemmings who feel alienated by Microsofts RROD problems
-People who want to try something new
-People who don't own a HDTV
-People who used to own a gamecubethe_h_bomb
Forgot to add gamers who just like the Wii in general.

And is this based off of your "hardcore" opinion?

wow when you said you? you mean me? I'm not a hardcore sonyfanboy. But its a fact that in the last 11 years they have made the most appealing consoles. and when your parents aren't rich u only get 1 console and I chose Ps1 and 2. But I didn't make the thread to bash wii so dont provoke me.

It's funny, because all the guys at my school think 360 is the bomb, and nobody knows a thing about the Wii. Most of them are not hardcore at all. It's "OMG have you played Mass Effect and Halo 3 yet???"
A friend of mine was telling me how PS2 was amazing and GC was crap... and then proceeded to tell me that "Wind Waker had crappy graphics" and "Metroid Prime was passable."
I'm one of a select few who knows anything about the Wii... but am I the casual?
