We know sony is dominating with sales and all but who do you think has the better console without taking future releases into account? I know this is a very general question but just want to know what you guys think.

The PS4 is the better console when it comes to hardware. It is the better console when it comes to the quantity of the software. It is the better console when it comes to the number of developers, first and third party, indie and AAA, western and Japanese, making games for it. It is also the console selling the most to the market.
The PS4 is winning this generation by every metric imaginable.

Shut up cow! :P
PS4 is best when it comes to hardware power.
Xbox One is best when it comes to features and services.
Wii U is best when it comes to exclusive games.
I don't think anyone is on the games front. In a sense, this generation is such in a poor state compared to prior generations.
Honestly, the only answer that makes any sense to me as of where we are now...? People who have no alegiance to any one platform have already won.
There is a reduced sense of parity in modern gaming... Everyone has the biggest games, and they aren't exclusive. Everyone has a few games to hang their hats on and unless you're a wiiu only, owner, you have all the games that are considered "must play".

^ ^ This. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial.
Winning a gen:
-Most aaa/aa exclusives.
-Most aaa/aa total games.
Popularity, sales, marketing budgets, or awards....or even graphics shouldn't matter. The Games are all that should matter.
@2Chalupas: PC has it beat in most categories.
PC's have gens?

But you don't game, Sniper. You just lurk on a gaming forum. Pretty pathetic, honestly.

Go play your pretend PC, sniper.
The GAMER is. More games, better games, on more platforms. Sony struck down the all-DRM future Microsoft and publishers were willing to go in. It's easy to say Sony won but that's not the real point.
More AAA-games.
More AA-games.
More indie games on more platforms. Sony backed this pony and made it a Dark Stallion.
More japanese games. Japanese developers are slowly recovering from the decade-long slump they were in.
Sony fostering victims of corporate bullying like Hideo Kojima to make games of unprecented quality and scale.
Sony bringing in the lost sheep with remakes of classics like FF7. Making gaming cool again.
Microsoft being punished for their all-DRM future and dudebro shooters and sportsgames. Gamers want more diverse games and have true ownership.
This will be the PS2-era again in which everyone and his dog is into videogames. Sony bringing in the VR will the next step.
PC is the correct answer.
Out of the consoles, PS4 by a large margin, but I still enjoy my X1 and Wii U too.

For me, 2015 has been one hell of a year in terms of games. I still have a huge backlog with games like fallout 4, witcher 3, bloodborne, tomb raider to name a few. I don't know if I have the time to finish these games. To each their own i guess.
The gamers that bought an Xbox One. Microsoft is doing way more for them, compared to Sony to PS4 buyers.
