Just wondering if it's worth picking it up, ( the gold edition ), I want some genuine opinions, because whenever I mention it, all I get is "not as good as 4" " Capcom suck" " You are a loser for liking it"
Lol :D

If you pretend it's not a RE game, sure. However, it having RE on it really **** it up. Atmosphere is a complete joke, still no run and gun or even walk and run, cover system (sort of) in a RE game? WTF! The game just flat out **** sucks as RE game, it is descent otherwise. If I knew they were going this route, I would gladly take my awkward camera angles and tank controls over that **** any day.
Played through it in co-op with a friend. Awesome game. Probably would be average to play alone though, the game was definitely build from the ground up as a co-op shooter.
I really enjoyed it, I even liked it better than Resident Evil 4, I don't know why, I guess action is more my thing.
Game is really good, unlocking stuff in the game is really fun. It takes some time to get used to the controls though.

i completely agree. as just an all out action/shooter, it's pretty decent, especially co-op. as a resident evil title, it's utter trash. same goes with RE4...
I love it. Still playing the PC version daily. Really fun to just go in and murder everything(infinite rocket launcher!)
Hated it. One of the biggest disappointments this gen. for me.. Right up there with LBP, Resistance 2, Super Paper Mario, and Brawl.
I enjoyed it, its worth picking up specially now that the price gone cheaper, but the experience is not as memorable like the old RE, just think of it as a new title than a RE title
I hated it, it went for a action game over the horror, that I could have lived with, but they released it after gears and a few other good TPS. Not being able to shoot and move is a game breaker for, feels way to dated. Graphics are fantastic on the pc, just wish the GP was up to par. I loved RE4, but didnt care for this at all. Yes, you couldnt move and shoot in re4, but that didnt bother me back then, games evolved RE didnt
Don't bother playing it without a friend.

We have a winner :)
If you played this single player like I did, it will be boring as hell.
Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games of all time, going from that to RE5 was such a pain, what were they thinking?!
i did until the zombies started firing at me with ak47s. total mind ****

 The Cover system and the zombies shooting, at that point I had no idea what the hell I was playing, all is that it was NOT Resident Evil :|
It was OK for an action game.
But as a sequel to RE4 (one of the best games ever made) it fell flat on the stomach.
RE4 had the right pace, the atmosphere (loved the settings), really cool enemies without any repeating and boring sequences.
RE5 is much more linear than RE4 to start with. The setting and atmosphere is as dull as dull can be (it felt dead and stale not scary at all). The enemies (with a few exceptions) were also dull. The pace of the gameplay often got irritating with a lot of repetitive sequences. The stiff gameplay mechanics that actually worked much better in RE4 felt so out of place too. In fact I don't have that much good to say about this game. Buy it at your peril.
I didn't even finish it.

Same here. I played it with a friend too.
At first it wasnt half bad but about 3/4 of the way through we just couldnt take it anymore. One of us would bring it up like, "Man we are close to the end of RE 5...Wanna finish it?" and the other would almost instantly say "Eh no." and then other would came back with, "Yeah me neither".
There were just so many design flaws that it became tedious and boring. I regret buying it more than any other game this gen.
I did. It was my first RE after RE2. While the game is not true to RE...it at least has redeeming qualities online.
I had a blast playing Mercenaries. :D Story is just meh/passable though.
Played with a friend, it's one of the best action games this generation, flat-out.
Played with the AI, it ****ing sucks.
I was only able to play a fraction of it, but I enjoyed it overall. The other's complaints about the AI are quite valid.
My honest opinion: NEVER EVER PLAY THIS GAME ALONE. The AI will kill any sense of fun. Always play with a friend or someone online. I hope that when Capcom make RE6, they might actually make it scary again. Or just come out and tell us that it's going to be straight up action. RE5 scares me about as much as dog poo.
