It seems the norm today in gaming development is to design characters (mainly lead) with a 'tough-as-nails' persona; without much of a hint of humility and/or modesty. For some games it can work really well (i.e: Ryu in Ninja Gaiden) but in others it has a greater possibility of rubbing gamers the wrong way. In all my years of gaming i've come across a number of these 'cheesy' ego maniacs whose attitude really makes me yearn for a 'skip' button. So here are a few of the characters I believe have big (and damaging) egos. Are there any characters you feel deserve this 'distinction' as well (post pics if you can)?
Kratos (God of War) - You know i've never seen '300'; but after playing God of War II I'm starting to believe Spartans didn't know how to use their 'inside voices.' As cool as the angry spartan is at times his boldness came off as 'whatever' to me. It just seemed that in every situation he always overestimates his own strength.
Balrog a.k.a 'Vega' or 'The b!tc# with the mask' (Street Fighter) - "Only the beautiful can win a battle"; Vega doesn't actually talk in the 2-D fighter games but he clearly sent an "i'm better than you message" whenever you fought him in battle. And he usually had something insulting relating to looks to say at the end of a match. That's why the best part about fighting him in Street Fighter was to see his cracked mask at the end.

I think you miss understand Kratos. He doesnt believe that he is undefeatable...its just that he Doesnt care. Kratos is a damned man who has nothing left to lose so when he goes head on into battle with gods and titans, its not due to over confidence in his skills, but due to him not caring about living or dying. On the other hand Savio Vega is a cocky . I mean he just loves looking at himself and he always thinks that he is gonna win. But thats the way with all these fighter game types. Before each match, they always make a cocky comment about how they are gonna thrash the opposition. Some Vega Quotes: "Look how long my hair is, it comes all the way to my ****, the son of prince, oh it's me baby." "Oh it's me baby and I'm tired of wearng these socks inside these penny loafers, ***** gimme' what I want." "Oh it's me baby and I'm finna' put some rubber gloves on ya' feet." " Nah uh, lay down ya' camel toe look like a base ball glove; lemme' throw some balls atcha' catcher's mitt. *Stomps* "Limited edition penny loafers." "I'm ready to **** that *****, Wit' my butt out jeeeeeans." "I'm the Son of prince I got status in the mutha'****in hood, *****. Well I'm off to go **** this bull....."
Hmmmm, either Liquid Snake (We meet again....broooooooooooooother. Broooooooooooooooother. Genome. Brooooooooooooother.), Jack from FF8 (was that his name? I forgot :( He was the guy who punches stuff), Seifer from FF8, or that REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY annoying thing you get in your head in Dark Messiah. SHe says some of the worst lines EVER concieved in a video game. ("It's not nice to go through other people's things....birds of a feather, aren't we?"). Hell, all of Dark Messiah's dialogue was painful (my favourite being "If I wasn't b**ching, how would you know it was me?")
