Who here is content with actual next gen graphics?

i remember that first madden video shown in 2005 and well madden came no where near that target render

And yes i am playing on an hdtv

Gears of war looks good and all but is no where near realistic or what i expected from next gen graphics....

crysis might be the closest thing to my expectations...but pc gaming requires so much upkeep

personally i was happy with n-64 graphics. i was fine with last gens graphics and i am fine with this gens graphics. i am blown away when i see things like finaly fantasy advent children a cg movie that will take a couple more generations of consoles to reach. but i dont want games to ever look like real life because... i live in real life... i can see it all day long. if i want to do something in real life i will. in a game i see it as a fantasy world. a place to escape real life. so i am fine with how graphics are.

I don't want photo realism. Crysis looks amazing, but does not look photo realistic to me when actually playing the beta.

Anyways, I prefer the artistic style of games like Eternal Sonata.

I personally think realistic styles are a crappy way to go. It basically puts a big expiration date on the game and it starts looking crappy in comparison to other games rather quickly.

I'd be happier if they pump the resources into lighting and the like. Somewhat cartoonish styles such as the Blizzard games and the upcoming TF2 is what I prefer, Starcraft 1 may be horribly dated but it's not like it's an eyesore when you go back and play it, unlike more realistically styled games where you find yourself nitpicking when you fire it back up.

I agree with most people here, the graphics are fine. They aren't really important or just not as important as everything else, unless of course you happen to be a Playstation 3 fan, then I guess it means the world to you. Elektrik-Blu

while they do look better, not one game looks real to me. the only thing that goning to come clsoe is grand tourismo 5.

Im affraid you got reiled in with the bait that companys hooked on with their march of "my system is powerfuller then yours" mumbo jumbu that happens during each E3 before the console is released.

As long as the graphics are better than last gen Im happy which they are so im :) but I guess if you wanted CGI go watch toystory and move the controller around... hey who knows maybe youll be tricked as easily as you where by those videos.

Thanks for the insult by the way...but you can't help but look at game like gran turismo prologue and be mesmerized....I know i can't be the only that expected more...

it sounds like you guys are drinking the kool-aid or something. The graphics don't have to be photorealistic though maybe have a higher depth of vision that is more realistic to how we see

same, if a game has uninspiring art, it could have photorealistic graphics and i still won't like it is the graphics department. That is why i consoder halo and es the best games of this gen graphically

gears isn't meant to be realistic. This gen game are good looking enough to enjoy.

you're expectations are too hight. Interactivity requiers so much more power and labour than just movies..

graphics is not what gaming is about. graphics give the wow factor, andallow for the progression of games.

in the 2d gen, FPS where not possible

in the 64/ps gen voice acting wasnt possible

in the ps2/GC/xbox gen games took a huge step into becoming more realistic

and now this gen we have better graphics which allow for games to be almost life like. excluding the wii of course there still last gen graphics
