I mainly only play AA-AAA games. I have a few A games but I rarely go lower than that

i only have a ps3 atm, and 30games. i dont think ps3 has that many AAAs lol. So obviously not just AAA. People dont necessarily think 8.5 is a bad score, but when a game is hyped to be a 9.5 or something and it gets a 8. They WILL laugh. For the fuss thats made about them daily here you'd think it'd be alot of people here. So lets see what the consencus is.

if I turn it 45 degrees left or right its a diamond under the same criteria :o Where's your geometry Gods now!!!!111!!!
ActicEdge
A "diamond" is a rhombus, not a square.
Are you sure? Not to say I don't believe you but I normally hear that refered to more as a diamond. I nomally hear rombus reserved for a slated square with 2 accute and obtuse angles.
There's no strict definition. But generally a diamond does refer to a rhombus. :P

And people say there is nothing of use in SW. I just learnt something new today :) (walks away newsense of discovery) But seriously, that's interesting.
I looked at the box and saw if it was cool, really simple.[QUOTE="Sandvichman"][QUOTE="HAZE-Unit"]
One question, How would you pick games if there was no scores and reviews? or how did you choose games before you knew about something called reviews and scores?

So reviews don't mean ****, case closed :)
Most of the time i regretted it, it's only when i discovered gaming reviews through magazines that it was getting better. Most games that I play are rated 8.5 and up. I own all three consoles, so I usually don't have too many droughts. The thing is that I just don't have time to play games that aren't the best of the best.
Basically most people chose from hearing from another person about this awesome game or playing the demo/watching tv advertisements/etc.[QUOTE="nhh18"]

So reviews didn't matter, thats my whole point so don't tell me only AAA games matter because it's pathetic to hear that because it is not true at all, some are good and some are bad depending on an individuals taste.
The only reason they didn't matter is because i didn't know they existed. If I buy a game and have fun with it, THEN it gets bad ratings, I'll still have fun with it, even if it's a 5.0 game. But I typically only buy AA and AAA, simply because there are so many high rated games I don't have and I'm almost certain to like, there's no reason to gamble with games that I might not like as much. I play mostly exclusives because they always seem to be the most polished and take advantage of their system's strength best. The only multiplats I own this gen are The Orange Box, Mass Effect, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Red Faction Guerilla, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (but I have it for Wii so it's kinda exclusive since it's different). I don't think of it as being a snob, I own exclusives across all platforms, it's just for whatever reason I tend to enjoy exclusives better, they usually cater better to my tastes.

This is not the case. Most people (if not all) favorite game is most likely AAA. They usually are the highest quality games.

Maybe you should read through the thread? I see people listing their fave games of this gen so far and last gen...and they are not only AAA.
the majority of people favorite games are. Zelda OOT, Super mario 64, Civlization, Halo combat evolved, etc. There are only few games that aren't (Shadow of Colossus, Deus Ex) that didn't get the AAA score. There is a level of subjective material but at its core some games are just plain better than others and are considered classics.thanks for existing, I totally agree
I play games, not scores.
If I see a game that looks interesting, I'll get it. I never thought I would get Shattered Horizon since it got a 7.0 on GS. I then proceeded to buy and it and I love it.
i do. I mostly have PS3 exclusive games, beside MW2 and orange box.
GOW3, UC2, KZ2, MGS4, LBP, GT5:P, FF13, Heavy Rain, Demon Souls, and inFamous are what my gaming library consists of.

Reviews, and scores do matter because they reflect how much someone is going to enjoy the game. Look at army of two, the first game got tons of hype and got poor reviews. This is reflected by the fact that the 2nd game sold significantly worse. The opinions of critics don't differ that much from personal players.Anyone who limits themselves to playing only AAA games is not a gamer. I play everything that seems fun, interesting, innovative, different. I could not care less about a score it gets since my opinion is just as valid as the opinion of a reviewer and usually I disagree with reviews.
I've played some 3.6 games on the Dreamcast and I loved it. I usually do play exclusives though but that is because I just tend to buy them they don't have to be AAA but they are usually exclusives but on the consoles I mainly play it doesn't get much multiplats or the multiplats usually are terrible.
[QUOTE="SpiritOfFire117"]AA games are crap games? :| No but they're hardly worth $60.So by your logic, MP3 wasn't worth the money, but you bought it anyway and obviously liked it regardless.[QUOTE="meetroid8"]I only buy AAA games, I'm not wasting my money on crap games.meetroid8
The only few AAAE games I've played on my PS3 were Uncharted 2 & Killzone 2. If we go by GS scores, then add InFamous as well.
Ironically, out of those 3, only Uncharted 2 was actually worthy of AAAE imo. Heck I liked Spider-Man games more than InFamous. I don't know about you guys but InFamous not only had a a bland city but was just.. Boring.
It's all preferences and imo, AAAE does not make a game great to everyone. Although, I will still admit that it's a great game because of it's metacritic& how it looks like one of the best games out there. It just won't be my personal choice of game.
ever since they changed the price from $49 to $60 I only buy quality AAA on console the only exception for my ps3 is Call of Duty World at War that's the only AA game I bought.
that's on the console handhelds I buy more AA game only because the games are cheaper but I won't go below 7.0
[QUOTE="SpiritOfFire117"]AA games are crap games? :| No but they're hardly worth $60. But the no replay value of a 10 hour game *coughGOW3cough* is worth 60$? :?[QUOTE="meetroid8"]I only buy AAA games, I'm not wasting my money on crap games.meetroid8
Not at all. Mass Effect on the Xbox 360 was "only AA" and I enjoyed it much more than I enjoyed the vast majority of AAA games I've played this gen. It was just fantastic.
And Mirror's Edge was "A" but I enjoyed that much more than I enjoyed "AAA games" like Perfect Dark Zero and WarioWare: Smooth Moves.

Most people I've encountered said they were able to beat ODST in 8 hours on Heroic (the difficulty the game is meant to be played) and that was without finding audio logs and getting achievements. But the no replay value of a 10 hour game *coughGOW3cough* is worth 60$? :?[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"][QUOTE="meetroid8"] No but they're hardly worth $60.fightninja162

Both those games offer multiplayer. Most games that are rated that high are usually really good and are part of my library, but it would be foolish to just limit your gaming to AAA as there are less of them on each system. Also if you did that you would be missing out on a lot of fun. I will admit that sometimes it can determine if I actually purchase a game, but to not play any games below AAA status is just silly.
[QUOTE="mitu123"]Agreed. Some "AAA" games do not even deserve their score or recognition. Not to say they are bad by any means, but hype plays a part. If I only played AAA or AAA exclusive games I would limit myself severely. Some games come to mind - Lost Odyssey, Condemned Series, Heavenly Sword, Halo Wars, Splinter Cell: Conviction, The Darkness, just to name a few. Yep, thanks for agreeing, funny how even some AAAs are bashed by many, like Halo 3, Crysis, Modern Warfare 2, GTA IV and Metal Gear Solid 4, etc. even though those are the highest rated games this gen, really shows how we worship AAAs.:lol:I play games from 6.0-10, plus some AAA games aren't even that great.

[QUOTE="forza420"]i play 8.5 and up. anything else just isnt worth my time.SgtKevali
So you base your purchase soley on review scores? That's sad, man.
Why shouldn't he if he trusts the reviewers?Nope I only use a review score to help me when I really am borderline with buying a game. I played Lost odyssey which everyone knows didn't get great scores and it was one of my favorite games this gen.
oh and the last time I used a review score to soley make my purchase I bought Braid.....and anyone that knows me knows how much I hate that thing.
I chose the 3rd choice.
I'm addicted to Resident Evil 5 and yet it's not AAA.
If a game is fun, I'll play it. Ratings don't really impact that much.
