No. You could have bought the HD-DVD addon for your 360. Doesn't add up if you hate the console. But let's say you did buy it to play HD movies, doesn't that contradict your claim that it's not future proof?

Gears of war looks much better then rfom. RFOM is an average looker, but in my opinion has better gameplay. Graphically, gears of war slaughters rfom. But gears of war did have like 4-5 years of development.

The PS3 will be around a lot longer than your PC and it's current hardware and it will also have games that will push certain DX 10 cards mainly because they will not be optimized to run on the PC just like Crysis is not optimized to run on the PS3.

Well I have a PS3, and I will continue upgrading my PC, so my PC will always be better.

Keep blowing hundreds of dollars just to play a few fps games. Btw, Nvidia does not even have a good driver for their DX 10 cards and they've been out for months! PC gaming is always playing catch up and I know this because I've been gaming on my PC for years. The main reason I bought a PS3 is so I wouldn't have to blow hundreds of dollars ever couple of months just because 1 game requires it. One last thing, Vista/DX 10 gaming does not even support surround sound because Creative has not bothered to release a good enough driver. If you want to spend hundreds of dollars every few months and sit through all the pos drivers, be my guest. I know all of this because I own Vista along with an X-Fi sound card and a 7900GTX.

Nope, I already have the HD-DVD. I have 3 HDTV's, 1 of them is smaller though. I wanted to high def movie players for each of the larger tv's. So now I have HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Got it?

Wow....ignorance is bliss. Continue....I don't even read more then the first sentence of your post. PC gaming is always on the brink of whats new, while console gaming is always playing catch up. Sure console games usually look good for the first year, but after that the hardware is outdated, and there is no way to upgrade. So your stuck with inferior technology.

LoL, for 600 bucks you get a great console and THE BEST Blu Ray player according to a lot of reviews. You would have to spend 600+ dollars alone for a stand alone blu ray drive and you're basically saying that the PS3 is a waste? Fanboy plz! LoL!

yeah im not sayin RFOM looks better but it has way better physics and has more stuff going on at the same time while still maintaining a stable FR and looking good also, gear has nothing going on really and makes up for it with a chainsaw to make it look like you are getting all kinds of action when they are just covering half the screen with blood

True...

But if the price does not mean anything...

Then go ahead and buy it! I begged for a TurboGrafx in 1989 and picked that over the Genesis. I was happy with it and still own it along with a massive collection of games, import and US. But I lived in NYC as a kid, there were lots of boutiques in the area where you could get that kind of stuff easily.

I think that statement is a little...uneducated, maybe? I know the devs said so, and maybe I'm completely wrong, but theres no telling what people are going to be able to do with the hardware in the next few years. So I think its a little ignorant to say that the Ps3 wont be able to run a game that comes out within 6 months of its launch. Theres alot of time, and games that come to Ps3 in 5 years lets say, will be blowing Crysis out of the water. Well, at least they better be.

It is most likely that crytek actually attempted to make this game for ps3, and xbox 360 but, failed. The worse off sttatement is saying that gears of war is not capable on ps3, because that game wasn't even attempted to be created for it.

If you have the money for 3 HDTVs as you claim..why on earth would you get the inferior 360 HDDVD player (no HDMI port) and PS3 blu ray player (crap Blu Ray player) ??....I would get high quality stand alone players

DirectX 10.0 is programming interface, it doesn't give you special magic abilities, it just makes things easier to do. You are confusing "couldn't" with "wouldn't." Microsoft could if they wanted to.

Also, Dx10 requires new hardware to have full potential. So you can update a console API only to a limite of its hardware capabilitys.
With the Nvidia 8800 series, console hardware are already surpassed.

The PS3 will be around a lot longer than your PC and it's current hardware and it will also have games that will push certain DX 10 cards mainly because they will not be optimized to run on the PC just like Crysis is not optimized to run on the PS3.

Well I have a PS3, and I will continue upgrading my PC, so my PC will always be better.

Keep blowing hundreds of dollars just to play a few fps games. Btw, Nvidia does not even have a good driver for their DX 10 cards and they've been out for months! PC gaming is always playing catch up and I know this because I've been gaming on my PC for years. The main reason I bought a PS3 is so I wouldn't have to blow hundreds of dollars ever couple of months just because 1 game requires it. One last thing, Vista/DX 10 gaming does not even support surround sound because Creative has not bothered to release a good enough driver. If you want to spend hundreds of dollars every few months and sit through all the pos drivers, be my guest. I know all of this because I own Vista along with an X-Fi sound card and a 7900GT.

Wow....ignorance is bliss. Continue....I don't even read more then the first sentence of your post. PC gaming is always on the brink of whats new, while console gaming is always playing catch up. Sure console games usually look good for the first year, but after that the hardware is outdated, and there is no way to upgrade. So your stuck with inferior technology.

What's good about spending hundreds of dollars on new hardware that's obsolete after 3 months+, has no good video drivers, are not able to play games using your surround sound speakers because of the buggy Creative drivers that I mentioned in my earlier post and not being able to play THE BEST games which are almost always on consoles. I mean in the end, it's all about the games so hardware does not even play that big of a role anymore bud.

No I like the Blu-Ray, and that is why I bought it. I think it is great as a Blu-Ray Player. As a game console it is flawed thanks to the 2x's drive and the split 256/256 RAM.

the drive is irrelavent since 2x blu-ray speed is just about the same as 360's dvd speed, and not only that but better since its at a constant speed and not all jumpy like 360 dvd drive, and the spilit could be an advantage in many cases since cpu and gpu dont have to fight for bandwith like they do on 360, and its not like you can use all 512ram for gpu anyways, its only a slight percieved advantage for 360. it all depends on the games and we should let them do the talking.

I think it's a bottleneck. Blu-Ray is great for games. I won't argue that. The 2x's drive is a problem, but they have let you choose to download a portion of the game to remedy the problem. But the 256/256 split RAM is where they will run into problems.

I will have to wait to play it in person. Some reports say it does, while others say it doesn't. We will have to wait and see. They better have fixed the issues with the extra year they had to work on it.
