Maybe not day one but I will definitely get Heart Gold.

[QUOTE="-DarthMaul-"]Fear not, the 5th gen is a 'reboot,' a 'reimagining of the series,' as stated by Game Freak in their official press release. Clearly it will be an action rpg with dialogue trees.I am definitely getting Heart Gold but after that I will have to think about the type of changes they include for the next one to make my decision on whether or not I get it.

try HG/SS out. it's been called the greatest handheld game of all time.charizard1605
I've already played Gold and Silver, and I would never consider any Pokemon game to be the greatest handheld game of all time. I can't imagine HG/SS to be too much different from the original game besides aesthetic changes. I understand the appeal of the series to many people; but as for me, I believe that the mechanics that are inherent to the Pokemon series is extremely annoying and is not fun at all.
Usually, I play RPG's for their story and I focus less on collecting everything and maxing out all of my attributes. Pokemon has a pretty one-dimensional story and it puts a lot of emphasis on getting all of the Pokemon and grinding until they have the best stats. The plot is pretty much the same basic concept in every title and I have simply gotten very tired of it. Many people will bring up the battle system as one of Pokemon's main strengths and the amount of strategy it brings. To me, the system is downright annoying. First of all, I am not even the biggest fan of turn-based RPG's. If I wanted a dynamic and exciting battles that incorporated a lot of strategy, I would much rather play an RTS. Not only that, but the constant switching and re-switching of Pokemon when you are facing human players makes the whole battle seem extremely tedious and more time-consuming than it has to be. Personally, I desire something deeper from an RPG than the typical mantra of "Gotta Catch Em All" such as plot, well-developed characters, etc. and Pokemon does not offer me that.
To sum it up, I have outgrown Pokemon and I have no plans on turning back. It may be one of the most popular handheld games ever, but it is certainly not the best. The Pokemon series has grown extremely dry and to be honest, I feel that is is played-out and has lacked any sort of creative spark for a long time now.

Maybe not the NEW one but the Remakes most likely.
I loved Pokemon Silver and would gladly get this game.

strange...it still seems to be getting great reviews.[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"]strange...it still seems to be getting great reviews.Sky-
Clearly, my post was only showcasing my opinion and nothing more. Reviews are a bit irrelevant when I am discussing my opinion, don't you think?
We clearly don't like your opinion.its a remake of gold and silver which were my favorites becasue you could get 16 badges. i will be picking this up for sure..sooner or later

I'm just saying despite your distate for the game...clearly they are still quality titles.[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"]I'm just saying despite your distate for the game...clearly they are still quality titles.Sky-
They are, but that level of quality has been going on a downward slope with each successive generation (in my opinion of course).
ah but this is a remake of arguably the best gen Thats why people are hyped for it.ah but this is a remake of arguably the best gen Thats why people are hyped for it.Shinobishyguy
I know that and I agree wholeheartedly that this was the best Pokemon generation.
Although I will not be playing it, I do hope that they manage to retain the same magic that made the originals so great. By all means, feel free to enjoy the game...My posts were not designed to take jabs at people who like Pokemon. I was simply expressing my dissatisfaction with the series and nothing more than that.
I hope you enjoy the game when it comes out. :)
Whoever votes "grow up" is insecure about their age.
That aside, I really want the new game ( I would get Soul Silver) but I don't have a DS. (my Lite broke on me a while back)

Well, that was the only option if you wanted to say that you weren't going to purchase the game when it was released. Blame the topic creator for adding the extra part at the end for that poll option.
Most definetely me.
I have heard nothing but good things about this game and I never had the chance to play Gold/Silver so I'll be playing this without a doubt.

not just that but all the little touches they'r e adding sounds great as well. Like I said the seires hasn't seen any big improvement...but the little things like wifi, double battles etc. have helped the experience.[QUOTE="SF_KiLLaMaN"]

Lol. If anyone entered this thread, they were either mildly interested, or not at all. I bet half that voted no will still get it.Please Log In to post.
