Bioware didn't make all those CG (meaning non-engine). THey employed Blur to do all of those. And yes they're amazing.I say Bioware.

[QUOTE="savebattery"]Sonic Team's CGI abilities are very under-appreciated. Don't know if that means they're the best, but I think they deserve recognition. That Night of the Werehog short they did was beautifully animated.MobilechicaneX
Was going to say the same thing.
Just look at this, it's beautiful.
I'd say it looks just as good as SE's.
Wow that was incredible! Easily goes toe-to-toe with SE. @3:35 first thing I thought was OMG CRYSIS!

geez. that was impressive! nice animations.
[QUOTE="Espada12"]Yeah totally agree, that wrath trailer was just brilliant. The visual tops anything recent from Square including the new FF XIII VS.It's between square and blizzard, and I put blizzard over them for two reasons.
1. I am a blizzard fanboy
2. Wrath of the Lich King trailer.
JohnF111
Wrath is 2008 and hell, I think it looks better than even Blizzard's newer one like Cataclysm...
I mean the degree of realism is just Movie-like. (therefore, cinematic)
I can't say the same to Square ones...
blizzard, but does it really matter now days if games like crysis outdates almost all CGIs in games? CGIs take too much development that you could put into the main engine. Look at blizzard for example their CGI team in SC2 took nearly half so much men like the team for the normal engine. CGI are just a waste.

I believe their cgi team also made the in-engine cinematics.

CGI is all in-house. SC2's in-game cutscenes were outsourced. Not sure if they all were but some of it was.
I think Square does. FFvXIII looks straight up real-life (other than the characters... who are meant to look more anime-ish).
FFX's CGI still stand the test of time as well.

The Western CG studios produce far more realistic CGs. Look at Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Trailer, Dragon Age 2 trailer, All the Starcraft 2 CG (look at the faical expression, the stitches on the glove, the metal) and Wrath of the Lich King CG. (2008, but very realistic, as if it was a movie)
I would've said Blizzard till i saw the new FFV13 trailer. Is that realistic Japan or what?RoushrshOne realistic trailer against many realistic trailers produced by Blizzard.
The animation in Square CG lacks of weight.
By the way, Blizzard and Blur are near Hollyhwood and actually some ex-visual effects experts work for them, as opposed to Square (which is Japan) and in CG, Japan is behind.

I don't know man. That intro CGI looks pretty darn amazing.
Yeah I'd say Blizzard. Their stuff really pushes the limits, everytime.
I really liked the CG in the metal gear rising trailer too. Blizzard is too much though, that starcraft stuff makes 3d guys break out in a cold sweat.

Not according to the dev diaries in the collector's edition.[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"][QUOTE="topgunmv"]

Not according to the dev diaries in the collector's edition. The studio was mentioned in the credits. I forgot the name, same one who leaked the supposed "end" to the SC2 expansion or possible scrapped ending for the first. Either way part of it was outsourced. Blizzard probably just put the finishing touches on it to give it that epicness :D

I think they only used that company to "storyboard" it. I'm pretty sure Blizzard's in-house team did most (if not all) of the actual work.[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"][QUOTE="topgunmv"]

Not according to the dev diaries in the collector's edition. This. Blizzard never outsources cinematics. Pre-rendered or in-game.Bizzard or Blur Studios.ferret-gamer
As great as Blizzard is, Blur takes a dump all over them. Its like trying to compare Square Enix to WETA digital.
Blur is a very, VERY high profile digital art studio. Its not even fair to draw such a comparison. When a company (such as Blizzard) doesnt have the inhouse talent to see a project through, they call on Blur.
As for video game developers, I'd say its a toss up between Blizzard and Square Enix.
this destroys anything Blizzard or SE have ever done, imo anyway

I think the obvious answer is Blizzard. Their Starcraft 2 and WoW CG are amazingly detailed and have a great direction and give u a movie quality feel.masterg2k
Blur and DIGIC already stole the thunder of Blizzard in CGIs for videogames. Also, the Deus Ex trailer > anything Blizzard did in CG in the last years.

You mean Deus Ex trailer is more realistic? Because NO, it is not realistic and the character models seem low-poly for CG standard. Please Log In to post.
