Who's getting Mario Kart 8?

I haven't played a Mario Kart game since n64, but I am willing to give this one a try since it's in HD and I like my Wii U/gamepad. How about you, SW? I am! I have been waiting for this day for a long time. My other consoles aren't gonna get much attention for a while.

Already got it and it's so much fun. I'm looking forward to playing it some more which is more than I can say for most of the games I've played recently. Maybe my tastes are changing but a lot of recent games have been uninteresting slogs and it's nice to just have something light but competitive to jump into and have some fun for an hour.

I probably will once a new Zelda comes out. If a new Metroid Prime comes out and it's as good as the old ones, I'll HAVE to pick it up.

nintendo games are not worth full price. they are good arcade titles that u play when u are bored of everything else but i wouldnt play full price of them.

That's probably the most laughable thing I've EVER read on these forums and I've been here since 2001. Nintendo games are made to last and they are one of the few companies that produces titles that aren't over after a couple of hours.

But I guess...

I needed to make a Walmart run, I'm thinking of going at midnight so I can get it... otherwise, I'm in no rush really, I got a backlog of stuff to finish.

I don't know what I'm going to do with my free game download, already have Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, and New Super Mario/Luigi U on disc, and no way I'm getting Wii U Party. Maybe I'll randomly post the redeem code for someone else to redeem.

@SolidGame_basic: Not me. I bought my Wii U at launch (I own two) but I don't like racing games. I will buy this for $20 a year or two from now. I'm in no rush and I may never buy it all generation. I own all the other Mario Kart games, but this franchise is just not for me.

Yup, bought allready, the notion that you get another free game of your choice with it is hard to pass up on to begin with (not to mention that MK8 is cheaper then alot of those titles), and that me and the gf have something to play together. Simply makes it a hard game to pass up on.

I already pre-ordered the game months ago and should arrive in the mail sometime early next week.

Here. Chose to hold off on Watch Dogs until A) the PC version gets straightened out and B) possibly a price drop. Not convinced it's a game I have to play right this second, plus sequels are inevitable.

Also getting Pikmin 3 cause why not?

Picked up the game, popped it in and enjoyed my first Grand Prix. Looked over to my fiancé in the middle of the first race and just said, "Wow, it [Mario Kart] has never felt this smooth." She proceeded to respond with, "That's what she said!"

Seriously, the racing feels absolutely perfect. Shifting perspectives with the gravity wasn't too off-putting when I just looked at the kart, but then I took a look at the environment and then bumped into another racer and that's when things were crazy. Also, at the end of the Grand Prix there was a highlight reel with my best moments in all four races. I don't know how they did it, but it was great seeing a near fall off a ledge and a perfect hit against Toad who was in first place with a green shell. Brought a smile to my face.

And the music is stunning and visuals are terrific. Can't wait to wake up and play more in the morning! :P

EDIT: Also downloading Pikmin 3 as we speak. Great promotion, and they asked about whether or not the promotion was part of the reason you purchased Mario Kart 8 in the Club Nintendo survey. Could we see more deals like this in the future or is this a one-time thing?

Getting it just because the free game. Not that I don't think MK8 will be good, I just know I'll always be playing it at a friends house anyways.
