Who thinks Halo 3 has a good shot at scoring under AAA?

Not to bash the game in any way of course, it looks like it will be the funnest in the series. However, there is no denying that they haven't changed the Halo formula at all, save for new weapons, vehicles, online features, and some kind of map editor. The graphics got a nice upgrade, but nothing spectacular, like we would expect from such a big-name game. I mean, everyone's going to love this game and something like and 8.5 isn't bad at all. I'm just saying, maybe critics are gonna see more of the same with this title.

Hell, Halo 2 added a great multiplayer and introduced dual wielding to the franchise, and it scored .2 below its predecessor...

which is also why im worried about what people will think of starcraft 2...

GS only does incriments of .5 now.

I'd say its about an 80/20 split for AAA/AA. Unless Jeff reviews it, controversial scores seem to be sexually attracted to that guy.PBSnipes

he thougt GeOW was .4 away from perfection, i can only imagine what he'll think of halo.

If Jeff reviewed it.. it would either be really high.. or really low. The guy likes controversy.

But it was Halo 2s story that scored it lower then Halo CE, so if Halo 3 fixes that up.. 9.5

Why would you remake what is pretty much perfect... all the other games have been pretty much leading up to this point.

The only game I know without a doubt will get AAA or higher is Bioshock.

Oh yea I hope reviewers dont get wound up in the hoopla and hype - Like with Halo 2.... And overlook the games flaws. Heh OXM Australia gave it 11/10 (yes 11 out of 10). Heh now that is a joke.

That's the nature of sequals, they have the same gameplay as their predecessors. The very reason for sequals is to have the same gameplay in a new enviroment, bad games don't get sequals.

In my opinion, it will get a 9.5. With all the features they have added, it's looking very impressive. As for the gameplay, why change a great system?

Halo 2 added MP to Halo 1 but it was essentially the same game and it still got a high score which I thought was fine.

But now Halo 3 has added barely anything new to the series and I really cant see it getting higher than either Halo1 or Halo2.

It perfects what Halo:CE and Halo 2 did best.

Halo 2 added the multiplayer, but it was badly balanced and Halo:CE had a great campaign. Halo 3 takes both elements, improves vastly on the MP balance (we know this from the beta) and adds things like saved replays (which can be shared), 4 player co-op, forge and not to mention the added vehicles, weapons and modes.

Halo 3 is perfecting what already is a great experience. It's a complete game, which Halo:CE and Halo 2 are both not. That's why it will do well.

no, this game is PACKED and PACKED with great features it has the best Multi plyer you could wish for and probably a very decent single player at the least..

Yea there is a big possibility Halo 3 will be overshadowed by many shooters this year - mostley new IPs - such as Bioshock, Crysis.

The problem is Halo isnt really re-inventing the wheel, or offereing somthing that is fresh to the genre - its using the same formula - for better or worse.

Still if the game gets under 9.0 i'd be shocked, and im sure the GS servers would crash, and who-ever is reviewing (Jeff) would have a price on his head.

Still - as I said before - I really hope reviewers dont get wound up in the hype, and overlook the games flaws 'cough Halo2'.

And yes it is surprising Halo 3 has been muffled by COD4, Crysis, Bioshock and Even UT3 - in terms of coverage. Even other games like Assasins Creed, World in Conflict and yes Rock Band have recieved much more attention.

And MGS3 was robbed.... Even though it initially didnt have online play, it should have got at least 9.0 - It was a huge change from MGS2 and MGS1..... If anything MGS2 was overrated.

Ironically I agree with the Zelda Twilight princes score. I have actually regretted buying it for such an expensive price at launch ($90 AUD).

Just reading about the newest features, the huge focus on single player, the things they've added, the graphical tweaks, the new AI, the new lighting, added multiplayer options (A map editor is going to rock!), etc.

Also, the 4 player co-op alone gives the single player more legs than CE or 2 had.

That depends on what you know, I think the major new things were the Elephant, Prowler and Hornet I think. Along with the gravity hammer and mauler. Then again, it depends on what you knew beforehand.

Depends on how "honest" the reviewer is.

I.E will he/she comment on the lack of innovation and evolutionin the gameplay and graphics departments and knock points off for it?

Or will they get caught up in thehype etc and score it AAA because it's Halo?
