Who thinks Halo 3 has a good shot at scoring under AAA?

Just reading about the newest features, the huge focus on single player, the things they've added, the graphical tweaks, the new AI, the new lighting, added multiplayer options (A map editor is going to rock!), etc.

Also, the 4 player co-op alone gives the single player more legs than CE or 2 had.

And Forge isnt really a map editor lol ;)

Its more or less a map modifier.

Depends on how "honest" the reviewer is.

I.E will he/she comment on the lack of innovation and evolutionin the gameplay and graphics departments and knock points off for it?

Or will they get caught up in thehype etc and score it AAA because it's Halo?

I admit that this is going to sound completely fanboyish on my part so bare with me. IMO, MS is going to make sure this game is AAA no matter what if you know what I mean. It is their biggest hyped game, and there is no way they are going to let if flop whether it deserves to or not. And before you say Gamespot reviewers are professionals, look at our congressman, lawyers, business men/women. They give, receive, and accept brides everyday. So what makes you think that a game reviewer wouldn't accept one if the right price was thrown their way?peaceful_anger

It really can't.

I'm personally excited for 16 player Elephant CTF matches. A moving flag base and spawn point sounds awesome!

At worst, Halo3 will score 9.0.

My prediction is 9.5. The new EGM has an amazing feature on Halo3. It's online feature will raise the bar yet again.....just like Halo2 did for consoles.

I think that there are *cough scans cough* of this EGM on the internet, especially the parts dealing with Halo 3. I would check there first.

I responded earlier to this and I would like to add that in all likely hood, Halo 3 will get on average higher scores than maybe it should because of the hype surrounding it. I can only hope that all reviewers score the game for what it is and dont score it because it says Halo on the box!!! Imo, CoD 4, UT 3, MoH Airborne, CRYSIS, HAZE and Bioshock are all going to be as good or better than Halo 3 in terms or graphics and gameplay and once the initial Halo frenzy dies down, these other games will shine!!!kungfuchaos

I agree. I mean what do you guys expect? A completely new game, losing all its Halo flare and gameplay? Its a SEQUEL. Not a different game. Reviewers should realize this. Why would they change the MP mechanics? Its great how it is. Sure they need to fix balance issues, gun placements etc. but the formula works. I think Bungie's goal is not to change the main gameplay of Halo but to bring Halo1 and Halo2 players together for Halo 3. And from what I have seen (the new EGM is very convincing) this is shaping up to be the best Halo yet. No doubt in my mind it will be AAA.

I'll be getting the cheapest deal possible, having to afford all the other games coming up! But it's probably one of the most feature packed games I've ever seen, you get a lot of replayability for your money.

I'd say it has a small chance of scoring under AAA. I really think it looks great.

I prefer more fast-paced games in multiplayer, personally. I can't get over how slow Halo feels in comparison to some other shooters.

I actually agree. But I think the slow pace makes it much more strategical, which is a pretty cool.

Not to bash the game in any way of course, it looks like it will be the funnest in the series. However, there is no denying that they haven't changed the Halo formula at all, save for new weapons, vehicles, online features, and some kind of map editor. The graphics got a nice upgrade, but nothing spectacular, like we would expect from such a big-name game. I mean, everyone's going to love this game and something like and 8.5 isn't bad at all. I'm just saying, maybe critics are gonna see more of the same with this title.

Hell, Halo 2 added a great multiplayer and introduced dual wielding to the franchise, and it scored .2 below its predecessor...

which is also why im worried about what people will think of starcraft 2...

I completly disagree. You downplayed what are going to be major advances over Halo 2, and made them sound like small tweaks. The gameplay of Halo 3 is going to be very different. The additions of the bubble-shield, portable lift, generators and degenerators are going tosignificantly change the way the game is played.

Also there is 4 player online coop...which is pretty significant.

Halo 2 added duel wielding, halo 3 adds the ability to carry around machine gun turrets in 3rd person view.

"The Forge" editor completly changes multiplayer gameplay when used. You can instantly spawn crates and boxes? Halo 2 already had great replay-value, this just is going to take it further and offer a new experience every time.

Better graphics, lots more vehicles and weapons, "the forge"...what other sequals are going to be offering more? I don't see MGS4 or Killzone 2 topping any of this. Better yet...what more are you asking from Bungie? What would you like to see added that would change your opinion?

Nope. Halo 3's multiplayer itselfis AAA worthy. Singleplayer story will be incredible and will finish everything. It'll be epic. There's reason why it should get under AAA.
