Personally, I think all shooters are better with cool blood effects, but I wouldn't turn my back on a good game if it didn't have them, (Call of Duty for example).

Thank you for saying that. I always hated the damn blood spray from call of duty. Sometimes blood comes out, sometimes it doesnt, and their is no splatter....WTF...NO SPLATTER?!?!?!

you may see it realistic... but check it... these hellghast have complete body armour... iron helmets... and blood just squirts outso much with these crappy machine guns ... but say your hit and your bleeding like a hellghast with hardly any armour no mask... you sit in a corner and magically fully renew yourself... no realism

You are confusing a graphical gimmick with actual gameplay.

I don't care about blood. I want the gameplay, not a graphical effect that has nothing to do with the gameplay. Once a developer hammers down some good gameplay, then they can focus on the meaningless graphical effects. If Killzone 2 has awesome blood effects but horrible gameplay, I will cry.

Graphics support gameplay
Gameplay does not support graphics

Don't worry, I am not one of those guys who is all gameplay>>>>graphics. I am just saying, shooters need to focus on rock solid gameplay before they bother with graphical effects. The market is flooded with shooters that are all flash and no substance. Even though graphics do enhance gameplay, it seems that shooters fall prey to the whole graphics making up for shallow gameplay.

Well correct me if i am wrong, im no game designer but i do think that FPS games are some of the hardest to design.
Simply because all you do is fire in a straight angle. Once you got a good movement system, and hit detection all the rest has to come from design choises (setting, enemy placement, effects etc)

Sure you can spice up the gameplay by adding jetpacks or super abilities but that does not help a game like say call of duty wich aims for a more realistic aproach.

Luckily it apears that the AI systems are quickly evolving wich add alot more uniqueness to every FPS released.
F.E.A.R. and halflife 2 both have very good AI and are both completelyunique toeachother while the core mechanics are completely alike.

Agreed. Like the Gears blood was kinda corny, but it still looked better than lots of blood on the other games. I think shooters need to have MORE STORY. That's what I want. Gimme some story elements like Half Life does and it'll re-energize the genre.
