I think it's best to leave the series where it is. Aside from a few people, everybody is dead. Throwing in a new person out of nowhere to drive the plot would feel tacked on.

agreed, max payne was great for its time, but all the gameplay mechanics that made max payne great have been done and redone hundreds of times now (FEAR slomo, Stranglehold, etc) that a max payne 3 wouldn't impress unless it would break free from its original gameplay design, and try something new, and usually devs stick with what works.
I'd like to see Max Payne again, because I really liked the style of the series, in terms of story. But they'd have to change the gameplay a lot for it to be interesting, considering how much the game's mechanics are used nowadays.

Maybe they could do, like, rewinding time like Prince of Persia, and... ONLINE GAMEPLAY! :D
Wow I was just listening to the Max Payne theme as I saw this thread. Scary... But yeah I would love another Max Payne. I loved the character and I just want another excuse to play as Max.
Oh and on PC initially of course, so the devs don't have to worry about the hardware limitations interfering with their game design, then probably ported eventually.
It be stupid not to say Pc..... The series has always played best on it by far and the modding scene is incredible for the series - Matrix and Equilbrium mods, not to mention ones that ramp up the effects, and new levels.

I smell possible vaporware.
Wont be vapour ware, but I strongly doubt it will be as ambitious as initially announced - like so many massivley ambitious games - that seem to the rooted by hardware limitations.
