i never invest into hardware when they first come out, as they tend to be higher quality and lower price if you wait a few months.
Not me. Not until I pretty much have no choice but to buy it. carljohnson3456

I wont be buying that gimmick add on. Natal = FAIL imoWii_Gamer_277
its funny how Gamestop, Kojima, Time Magazine, and so on just dont realize this is only a gimmick.

Yup, the floating PS3 avatar? I liked it, but it ruins any argument you have in System Wars because all people see is a PS3 and then negate your entire argument as fanboyish nonsense... even if it's against Sony. I remember one time a guy called me an idiot because I had a PS3 avatar but was speaking against Sony, lol... as if I didnt know.definately not version 1.00 since i know microsoft will milk different versions with upgraded featuresdu_bungo
sounds like you would be very dissapointed if it actually was great and fun to play Natal.

I wont call it a gimmick yet... I mean, it might be implemented into games better than we expect, but as of now, it looks like a Wiimote 2.0 in my opinion. From the Burnout demo I saw a few months back, it looked sorta laggy... and c'mon. The flailing of your arms thing when playing a game just isnt fun to me. It's neat for awhile, but then the novelty wears off. I wont knock Natal's potential, but I doubt it'll add much in terms of gameplay to any game. Just my opinion.[QUOTE="PrimusGears"][QUOTE="du_bungo"]definately not version 1.00 since i know microsoft will milk different versions with upgraded featuresdu_bungo

only way Il lget it is if Rare launches a game with it on day one since I made a vow to buy any rare game released as long as its not complete milkage. (which they dtend not to do :P)

I understand your excitement, but I just havent seen any reason to get excited about it. It looks neat, but I'll have to wait and see it implemented well enough into the kind of games I like to get excited for it. I'm not a super hardcore, elite gamer or anything... but casual games just wear thin for me after awhile. I know they are saying Natal wont only be for casual games, but all the demos I've seen so far have been casual. It might add some cool things here and there for "core" games like Halo, like chucking a grenade I imagine... bah, we'll just wait and see. I dont hate Natal or anything, I just think it's getting insane hype... the same way the Wii did.[QUOTE="PrimusGears"][QUOTE="carljohnson3456"] I wont call it a gimmick yet... I have to disagree with your last comment completely. The Wii was sold out all over for two years, yet I'd still take my 360 and PS3 over it any day of the week. This will sell off alot of hype initially... but I'm just waiting to see what it'll actually add to gameplay. And as for ease of use, meh. I actually think it's going to be alot easier for me to hold a controller in one hand using my single thumb to flip through menus on the remote than waving my hand. I think a lot of people know my stance on it already.
I'm digging it and I will also get the Windows 7 version as well.
I'll see how the TV manufacturers are going with the Motion technology.
MS just needs to make sure their are a lot of good variety of games at launch and to keep supporting it and it must work very well with Windows 7 too!

Oh yes because I listen to a web site a overrated movie director and a magazine that has nothing to do with the gameing industry to form my gaming opinions :roll:Yes, and i have a feeling loads of peoples minds will change once they see the amazing software MS is going to have to back this up.NidgetI sure there was all this hype around the eye toy. even at the start of this gen Sony was trying to back it with some good looking software and guess what happened. EvERYTHING got canceled.
NATAL is just a more advanced Eye toy. I wouldn't expect too much to come from it.
This is way more than just a rip off of the wii mote because theres some serious technology in this thing that could actually change gaming and push it forward.Ill definatly be getting it when its released and have high hopes for it but who knows it could suck.
I sure the heck am. Rare is making a FPS for it at launch. And the rumour is that its using PD2 code(which is on hold with a 3 man team working on it). Kameo 2 is on hold as well and Rare said they are focousing fully on the Natal and that they could inish Kameo 2 in 12-18 months. other than that I wanna see what happens If I swear at Milo(only when the price of Milo goes down). Hopefully MS can get that new In house dev together to make some natal games. But honestly I wanna see an RTS on the Natal. All those tech demos look very promising. And if Rare is putting full force into it It'll havesome great games.

Besides, I have no doubt that Project Natal will work wonders with menu navigations and interactions. The rumour is 14 games are to be launched and 5 million to be shipped, however more importantly is the announcment of games inbetween now and next year.
We have a whole year and I wouldn't be surprised if more games were anounced and more exposure of Project Natal to the masses would build up anticipation.

Yeah it would be nice to see PD2 debut or something from Rare.
I just hope they get all the support and staff they need, though it is a year away from launch that doesn't seem like much time to really flesh out and come up with some very different or well executed game mechanics with Project Natal. However Rare are commited to it so that's very good news.
I just wished Bunige and Epic Games had more hands support towards Project Natal- like an developing an engine that could really exploit motion technology and voice recognition and that would help free up and allow the developers to create more interesting game mechanics, level design and content.
If anyone here knows about AutoCad- imagine ingame a 3 dimensional gun is infront of you and you can spin it in different angles, manipulate it, configure it and pull out and re-insert ammo with your hands and fingers.
another example of voice recogniton coupled with hand gestures.
You and your A.I. crack team of commandos sneak into a room full of enemies and you actually have to be quite in the real world as Project Natals mic can actually here you- so you can't say your orders to your team mates unless you give away your position but have to ues hand gestures to get your team into position. (It would be funny though if some one actually went into your living room and started asking "what game is this?" and all the enemies on screen heard that)
These are just some examples I think that can be used in games to make it even more interesting.
Yes, feed more money to the conglomerate greed machine known as Microsoft for a product that won't really produce any great results.DragonfireXZ95
we feed a lot of money to many conglomerate greed machines- Oil companies, banks, IRS, what's your point?
Mayce,
You maybe onto something regarding an RTS- though it has been tried before with a controller it was still difficult or not simple and intuitive enough for a console- it may also be how the game is designed too.
There was/is a game called R.U.G.E from what I understand can be used with MS's Tabe top interface?(someone help me here if they know what I'm talking about) and it you can zoom in, manipulate obects on the screen by touch as well I think.
What's to stop say the table top hanged vertically and you don't need to touch the screen to manipulate the objects but still easy to use just your hands and fingers? I think Project Natal could do that.
They would hae to come up with some universal hand gestures to selecting a large number of units, drag your finger towards and area and the units would move and attack on the way.
You could use both hands at the same time orchestrating2 seperate groups of units at the same time, in tandem with voice commands.
You actually are like a commander where you bark and pint your orders to a screen.
listen lems.. i have natal, its not woth it. oh wait, the one i have is called eyetoy
ultraking
WOW.
You have Natal?
What's it like?
How are the games?
Does the menu navigation for it on Windows 7 work?
Is Eye Toys voice recognition really awesome?
Eyetoy definately owns the Wii.
It must have so many games for it.
Cows must really be happy to have the eyetoy and keeps harping it's success. "Lemmings have Project Natal, but we have Eyetoy!!!!!"
I'm sure you can add Eyetoy on the list of other proven accolades like six-axis.
Why Eyetoy is so advanced you don't really need the Wand.

Seriously though, hypothetically speaking, what are you guys going to do if Natal is a failure of Hindenburg proportions?
There's nothingwe can do. Just take it on the chin that Microsoft didn't deliver and made proper strides to implement motion tech on consoles and computers.
What are Cows going to do if it isn't a failure like so many say it's going to be? keep populating System wars living in denial?
Actually probably will because Cows have been going through this motion now for what 3 years?
Deny the Wii and it's motion control a success.
Thinking that the PS3 would overtake the Xbox360 in '06, 07' 08' 09...and when it doesn't happen.
Still can't figure out why DS keep beating the PSP.
However I think the hit will be bigger for Lemmings because they are not so use to strings of failure and half attempts like six-axis and Home and Sony's attempt at motion tech like the Wand.
Speaking of the Wand, a lot of people would love to have Resident Evil 4-Wii style controls combined with HD visuals. That the PS Wand is going to offer it basically straight from launch with RE5 is a major plus for me, and an incentive to buy in.
I'll watch Natal cautiously and pick it up if it improves gameplay in a convincingly good way. I'm not so sure it will, but we'll find out.

I've read your comments leading up to this one and quite frankly, I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed.
All the things you mentioned are good in theory, but you've already succumbed to what Microsoft wants everyone to do: Use your imagination. While this sounds all well and good, the imagination is a tricky thing. You can literally imagine ANYTHING (as noted in this thread). And while Natal may inspire a myriad controller-wielding dreamers to feel as though they are about to step into the game world, it's also setting a lot of people up for the moment of doubt when they realize that all the good intentions in their head don't come in to focus the way they had hoped.
The hardware hasn't proven itself yet. It may still, but I'm quite dubious of that. The fact of the matter is both console manufacturers, Sony and Microsoft are trying to cash in on the motion control market 3 years too late. Like I said though, Microsoft KNOWS how to market, so I have no doubt Natal will sell...at first. But once we see how well it works, the reviews come rolling in, and the "hype dust" has settled...only THEN, will we know the truth.
And as for this:
However I think the hit will be bigger for Lemmings because they are not so use to strings of failure and half attempts like six-axis and Home and Sony's attempt at motion tech like the Wand.
AdmiralBison
Oh really? A console whose hardware is highly questionable, overpriced peripherals that aren't included, and add-ons that are now obsolete (HD-DVD drive, I'm looking at you). No, Microsoft knows nothing of failure.
