The actual reason they gave was that they were way more experienced with this gen so they can make a top game and make full use of current gen tech. If they go next gen, you'll get another GTAIV. A GTA game with missing mechanics.

id like it on wiiu as well , rockstar just being lazy ,, using the same engine as 4 and not much done for it ,
Won't be getting the new console right away, so of course I want the new GTA game on the current gen.

So reusing an engine that cost a company a bomb to make, and its currently being utilized by the whole company is lazy?
Rockstar probably wont port to Wii U unless some magical amount of demand appears, considering Rockstar games tend to underperform so i would probably just sit down get it on a 360 or PS3.Not to mention there would need to be a hell of a lot of porting work.
