It looks to be turning out excellent. It'll be between this and Demon's souls for me.

It will be my RPG of the year, regardless of scores or awards. 2 more days, and it will be time yet again for another epic adventure from BioWare that has replay value out the yin-yang. In fact, this is the largest game they have ever made.
Dragon Age has classic written all over it in my view and I can feel some of those long nights and memorable moments coming on. Cannot wait.8)
I don't trust mainstream review sites. Wait until it comes out and hear the general concensus among those who won't compare it to Fallout 3, Fable 2 or Oblivion but to the Infinity Engine games.
[QUOTE="Planeforger"]Hm, is this much of a surprise? I mean, the only other RPGs of note this year are Demons Souls' (which is more of an ARPG) and Risen (which was underrated), so doesn't DA win by default? Anyway yeah, I'm not really looking forward to this game - it looks rather bland and unoriginal - but I'll still probably buy it. There just aren't enough RPGs around lately as it is.110millionDivinity 2 looked pretty awesome, but it didn't seem to get any sort of english release so far this year, they said Fall 2009 for PAL, so that would sort of count. I played through Risen a couple weeks ago, its certainly underrated, but there are quite a few things preventing the game from greatness.
Divinity II is confirmed for the 5th of Jan. in the US.
[QUOTE="Nidget"]Hmmm i wonder has any of those reviews mentioned the bad lip syncing? ioannisdentonoh come on man! you again with the lip sync issue thing? oh come on it doesn t matter! just play and enjoy this fine example of how real rpgs are! :P Its a legitimate concern? I just thought Bioware was good at stuff like that.

Oh really? I haven't heard anything in ages, last I heard they were still looking for a publisher, good to know.[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="110million"] Divinity 2 looked pretty awesome, but it didn't seem to get any sort of english release so far this year, they said Fall 2009 for PAL, so that would sort of count. Everything about this game looks outdated, from the graphics to the gameplay. I can really tell it was in development for a long time.

I'm more concerned about the lack of anything new in the setting and themes, as far as I can tell.

I certainly agree that the graphics are underwhelming, but that speaks even more to just how damn good the game is to be getting reviews like this, as most reviewers are graphics snobs.

What really bothers me with that kind of graphics is that I get the feeling it'll be a major glitch fest. I don't know why, but I do.

I doubt it'll be glitchy...

All games have a certain number of glitches, but with these kinda reviews I sincerely doubt it's a "fest".
Sounds like a stellar title that any RPG lover should consume.
There is no competition dude.. .what the hell man... why does everything here need to be: "this game is greater than this game?" Why can't both games be great?? This isn't like the infamous / prototype thing as these are two very different rpgs.. released months apart. different sub-genres . ... Demon souls== Action Rpg (think 3D version of Diablo 2 but with real skill based combat) , Draongs Age == party based CRPG think 3D baldurs gate (the pc version not console) Again there is no competition, PS3 gets both games - you can buy both games... I know I will... both my PS3 vers are paid off Demons Souls Own and is great, Dragons AGe - Paid off picking up on Tuedsday.no wai, demon's souls > dragon age.
I think that party scheme is really weird.

I dunno, it'll be tough to beat Demon's Souls.siLVURcrossBeat it in what way?? God you people still don't get it... This thread reallly picks out who is just here for system wars and who actually cares about good rgps... both games are great and totally different sub - genres... please just stop already! Both win, PS3 gets both...
It comes in at a solid third for me, first being Platinum and second being Persona PSP yea I got weird taste in RPG's I know, a rehash and remake as my top 2 :P

And btw, Demon's Souls and Dragon Age are being released less than a month apart so I don't see how that's "months apart".
well of course its going to be rpg of the year; the only game competing against it is demons souls lol

?, the guy thinks its going to be tough to beat demon's souls for rpg of the year, thats a legit statement, its a AAA game.
I don't see any RPGs released so far that would make Dragon Age feel outdated. It's definilty not outdated in gameplay, nor in graphics (it's not incredible, but still ranks among top of it's genre). People act like Demon Soul is the biggest competitior this year and it certainly isn't more "more advances" in either gameplay or graphics than Dragon AgeEverything about this game looks outdated, from the graphics to the gameplay. not all AAA games are the same, some are the best of that month, some are the best of that year, and some (starcraft) are the games that define a generation. Im sure demon souls is cool, but its just not going to be in the same league as Dragons age. Demons souls is like the flavor of the month, Dragons age is like the flavor of the last 4 years of rpg gaming. Doesnt mean they both cant be over a 9.0 rating, and it doesnt mean every single gamer will like dragons age better, but its a better game, some people are just shallow, not good at rpg's, dont understand how to max talents and gear, the kind of person who actually liked transformers 2, therefore big explosions and simple minded things excite them will probably like demon souls better.

Wow........you have played and beaten Demon's Souls?
I cant wait for Dragon Age, I am forced to buy it day 1 because my cousin, the walking spoiler, is buying it day 1 and I cant have him spoiling things.

The gameplay style has only been used since KOTOR, you make it sound like its another JRPG using the same fighting style that they have for 25 years! now thats freakin outdated. The combat in Dragons age is still relatively new to the RPG scene, as of last gen. first person shooters, platform games, JRPG's basically all the mainstream game styles are 20+ years old. So infact the complete opposite is true of what you are trying to say about the gameplay looking dated.
No shock to me. The worst Bio-Ware game i've ever played is still a B+ game (using school grading). It looks to be the console RPG of the year. The only other competitors are a game where the only praise it gets is that you can lose alot of progress and a game that thinks leveling up = rpg... which makes as much sense as saying a level/mission select screen means a game is open world since you can choose different missions at any time.Senor_Kami
It's more of a PC game than a console game...
