Who's buying all the ps2's?!!

i mean the ps2 is selling a lot still for being out for 6 years.  like everybody has one yet it still tops console list as like top 3 with selling like 30,000 every week or month wtv.  and the gba has been out so long and it sells a lot aswell.

Late comers of course, people who missed this generation and like the games available.

There is close to 550,000 PlayStation 2's sold monthly worldwide. More than 1 million software sales as well. It's amazing that this piece of hardware is selling so much even after a next generation console has been launched and PlayStation 3 is debuting this year.

Yes, I've owned one for a long time now and have thoroughly enjoyed it, and continue to enjoy it. This doesn't change the fact that most people who are buying it are doing so because it's "in".

Yes really. On one hand, no one milks their franchises like Nintendo does (not that this is a bad thing). On the other, as stated previously, a large portion of those who bought PS2s only did so because it's the most popular brand.

The difference is, I bought one because I know it has a great library of games. Not because it's "in" or because my buddy told me it was "zOMGg tehH AWesEOme!!1!!1", like at least half the PS2 owners out there did.

Considernig how long it's been out, and the fact people would still go out and buy a brand new one, to replace a broken one, says a lot more than any other system. Then again this is just a myth that was created since the launch of PS2s. Funny how Lemmings can make the agrument "Psh, only 3% of 360s are defective, and that's not much for a new system." yet you Lemmings still talk about the same defective PS2s from 6 years ago. :roll:

i hate when people say that cause i went through three ps2s and on my second 360. Never did anything to them they just stopped working. It happens alot more then you think

I have 4 PS2s total, one of them from launch and still works. I basically have a ps2 in every room (ps2/xbox in my room) and PS3/360 in living room.

I had 2 xbox but one RROD me.... yes the original xbox. I just returned that one for store credit and got another game for PS2 at the time.

My 360 has RROD only once so far (cross fingers)

but so far none of my Sony products have ever failed me (I have a Sony receiver, HDTV, 50+1 CD player, DVD player, tape player, VHS) I have Bose speakers though.

I guess different people have different experiences but its hard for me to believe that Sony is even close to the xbox problems.
