Itried replaying halo 2 but the awful level design, crap story, crap characters(brutes sucked, arbiter was average) and just total mediocre made it unplayable past about half way. I hope halo 3 is NOTHING like halo 2 and more like a next-genhalo 1
As a matter of fact I did recently borrow and play through the original Halo. Actually, its the first time I've ever been through the whole game solo and not in co-op.
Me and my sis just finished the Halo campaign in coop, and we are now going through Halo 2. And you know what, something weird happened ; I'm actually enjoying Halo 2 a hell of a lot more than I did the first time I played it. I used to bash that SP campaign a lot, but 6 missions in, I can honestly say I'm having a lot more fun with it than the original Halo campaign. Something I would have totally disagreed with last week.
If you didn't like Halo 1, you are in complete denial.

Maybe I am. I'd have to be crazy to deny how much fun it is to run through repetitive levels fighting repetitive enemies. Thank you for opening my eyes to this, Mr. Marine. I was so blind before. I can now state with utmost confidence that gaming has never, and will never again, reach the plateau of orgasmic gaming bliss that is that level "The Library". Doing the same thing in the same structures fighting the same enemies over and over and over with no sense of progress and an overbearing sense of despair that the level will never end? GLEE!
And really i dont care what anybody says, but Halo 2 was meh, not crap just meh, the only reason im buying Halo 3 is becuase of Halo 1

Your in the same boat as I am. Halo 1 was great. But unlike you I hated Halo 2 with a passion. Aren't sequels supposed to be better? Here Bungie comes out with a great game called Halo then they destroy it all in Halo 2 with the massive hype for the game and it didn't turn out nearly as good as the first. That's why I'm renting Halo 3 first...that's right..renting it. I don't want Bungie to pull that crap on me for a second time.

same, well i started the fight, never finished, so i thought i wud go to halo 2, never finished...got bored. multiplayer is pretty decent though, but i still stick to counter strike (pc)
No. Heres a new proposal: In order to say "___ is the greatest FPS of all time," you must have experience playing a signifigant majority (if not all) other FPSs. You can't play the halo games and maybe COD 2 and say Halo is the best. It just doesn't work.

Personally I think there is defiantly better games out there than Halo, and its by far not the best FPS, let alone trilogy - the later by a long-shot.
In the console realm however it deserves accolades. In PC realm...... Not so much.
