[QUOTE="Respawn-d"][QUOTE="mitu123"] They are no where near as fast as a PC, if you seen how long it takes to get to another page on my PS3 and Wii, it's like up to 20 seconds. My computer does less than 5 most of the time.

mitu123

When was the last time you used the browser? I use it almost daily with remote play and youtube and even then across both wifi, psn, my ps3, my isp and back it only takes at max 7 secs

Yesterday, then again I don't use wifi.:P

if it takes you 20 seconds on wired, there's absolutely no chance Wifi will perform any better.

unless you wrap your ethernet cable around some lights.

I use Wifi on PC and not on consoles, that's a reason, and you should see what it's like when I load a page on PS3 or Wii.

I've used the web browser on the wii or ps3 for youtube, pandora, and grooveshark. Both browsers are pretty slow and nothing to write home about. Still, I'v used the browser a lot on my PS3 to download free XMB themes. Since the 360 doesn't support usermade backgrounds/themes and since it has a Last.fm application, there really isn't much reason for one.

I use my Web Browser on my PS3 all the time, in fact I'm using it right now to right this. Is it the greatest? not really, is it functional? yes. It beats out Live as far as Connectivity and communication goes, I can Communicate and connect with people all over the world from my PS3, Can Live do that? Some ppl will say "why not just use your PC, its better?". My Pc is dead atm, and I'm in no hurry to get it replaced.

One of the advantages for me having a web browser on the PS3, is if I ever get stuck in a game or trying to figure out what that last Hidden Trophy is that I need. I can just log right into GameFaqs from the PS3 without having to get off my lazy ass and head over to PC and boot that thing up.

out of all the consoles shouldnt the 360 have this since online is the main focus. even the wii has a web browzer, it may be very slow but it was it. the 360 can easy get one and a very good one too one that works just as good on a regular pc. i know this isnt realy a big part of console gameing, or gameing at all just wodnering since the 360 is internet focused

EmperorZeruel
MS decided to enter the console market to stop SONY dominating our living rooms and making there biggest cash cow,the PC, obsolete, the 360 doesn't have a web browser because MS do not want to compete with there own cash cow.

PS3's web browser is a NON-ESSENTIAL gaming feature in a console, so its not a problem for me that 360 doesnt have one...

These are 'extra' features (like cross-game chat) which while good to have them, they're nothing to brag about and use in forums to claim some sort of ownage/superiority..

I need neither to play my games online except a TV, console (+ paid XBL for 360), gamepad, games & Internet service...

Because it would negate the reason for XBL "apps". I've stated this before and I'll state it again. M$ is molding the 360 and XBL in the apple image. Soon you'll have the ability to Kinect or "TOUCH" your ipod..er.. I mean Live apps. Besides it would also defeat the purpose of charging people for live. If you could access facebook, twitter, lastfm, zune market place ect.. through a web browser, why would you need "apps". And if you had to be a Gold subscriber to do so, why not just use your PC (where you're not paying an extra $50).

I think it is kind of funny really I mean people are going on and on about how it is just supposed to play games but look at the past updates to it, twitter, facebook, espsn, last.fm and whatever else might be there. You would think with MS being social media focusing that they would by now add a form of IE to it but then again they want to control what you do.

Think about how easy it would be to possibly softmod the console with an exploit through IE??? I think MS just wants to limit or be as secure as possible without tampering the hardware which from a security/business standpoint makes sense.

It'd break the walled garden, is why. Microsoft's 360 isn't necessarily about the Internet but rather about its closed Live network, which just happens to run on top of the Internet.

while some type of youtube app would be nice, the only other that could be useful is an in game guide browser, linking to ign guides or something. aside from that a browser is pretty pointless, and is usually quicker to boot up your pc.

I'd rather start up my PC than the PS3's browser. Because it's garbage. That way I can multitask, i.e. keep playing the game while looking for hints too. Or have they fixed that? Haven't used the PS3 browser in like a year or three. A mouse and keyboard is essentially required too, so you'd have to buy wireless such. For a ****ing browser. On your console that's wildly inferior to the one on your computer. And the 360 only has two USB ports. Not to mention that browsing on your TV is pretty bad. It's...I don't see the point to it, at all. It's just....ugggh... Terriblest idea ever.

Why are lemmings telling cows that the console browser is a useless feature when they always use cross-game chat as an advantage for Xbox Live over PSN? They treat cross-game chat like it's the most essential thing to gaming when it's hardly that necessary. I'd say cross-game chat is probably a more useful feature (not that I'd ever use either features) but you've got to see the hypocrisy.

Well, both features are useless to me but I did say that cross-game chat is better. I'm just annoyed by the lemmings here. God forbid that the PSN has a feature that Live doesn't. If PSN does have an additional feature, it's useless and they don't want it on Live. I guess all fanboys are guilty of similiar things like this though.

It realized it was above imitating what a PC can do 5000 times better.

ActicEdge

Could of fooled me what with the 360s hard drive, online play, it trying to do RTS games all of a sudden, it trying and failing to get MMOs, headsets, all things the PC did first and better.

It doesn't have a web browser because Microsoft would rather sell you their own Xbox apps that provide the kind of services you can get on the web.

It's the same reason you can't just plug any USB steering wheels or networking devices into the 360: Microsoft wouldn't make money off of it.

If it had a web browser MS couldn't charge their userbase for facebook, twitter, netflix and last.fm they thought of this well in advance.

I think Microsoft wants to focus more on UI apps rather then an actual browser.

Honeslty i never even found the point of a broswer on my console, even tho it is faster to turn on the xbox then the pc

The 360 can have a web browser, you just need to put it on the console. The 360 has to be connected to media center to be able to use it. There is a tutorial on youtube on how to enable the browser. I'll see if i can find it.
