Call me the deranged crap-lover, but I can happily disagree.I hate Halo 3 because it's an overrated, crap game that isn't any more or less fun than thehundreds of FPSs that came our before and after it.

Two reasons Halo is hated so much. 1) Has the word Halo in the title 2) No other FPS (on consoles) has had as much success and has such a big fanbase like Halo.93soccer
They aren't the only two though, some people actually legitimately don't particularly like how the games turned out after the first game (which I thought was alright).

Legitimate is fine. If it's idiotic fanboy reasons then that's different. Same applies for any game.Because it's popular. I enjoy the series now but thats why I used to hate it. I think it gets too much hate instead of too much praise.
Seriously, who praises Halo anymore? People make threads claiming it's too popular but no one praises Halo anymore

There seems to be a trend on SW lately, that whenever a game with a screenshot of guns is shown, it is immediately compared in intricate detail to Halo. It seems that it is placed in a microscope twice as big, and with a lens twice as deep.
I just played the day before yesterday, and Halo 3 is still as fresh as when i first put the disc in the 360.
Any reasons for the hate? Or is it just the latest trend / fashion??

I know I have hate for the Halo series because I believe it to be over praised. Many of it's innovative features were done before on other platforms than the Xbox. It's sequels are the same way, offering very little in the way of groundbreaking features yet they get praised like they reinvented the wheel. I don't believe that you need to be groundbreaking to be good but many Halo fans need to open their eyes and see the series for what it truly is: average.
By your own admission, people can be blind to the truth.... now if you are human, like them, that means you need to be open to the possibility that you are the blind one. In that you are unable to see what others do.
Because it's popular. I enjoy the series now but thats why I used to hate it. I think it gets too much hate instead of too much praise.

Yup.... Halo is rarely praised any more around here at least.... and yet the fanboys still try and knock it down.... that in itself tells me there is something there that they fear.
I think there are at least 3x as many Halo bashing threads are there are praising ones.
I LOLed so hard.:lol:Because Halo is the lemming bible and Master Chief is their Jebus:D
Now say four Hail Arbiters and 5 Our Covenants for asking your question

I've never seen any hate for Deus Ex, but you're right. Most games get hate. You're on the internet, which is filled with a bunch whiney people who choose this as their outlet of emotions.
Not only that, if you can find a game that no one hates on, you let me know.
Chutebox
Because it's one of the best FPS games available, it's very popular, and scores incredibly well across the board.
Oh, and let's not forget you can't find it on Playstation or Nintendo, so of course there's a ton of hate for it :)
this right here is the 100% correct answer. You're on the internet, which is filled with a bunch whiney people who choose this as their outlet of emotions.

I've never seen any hate for Deus Ex, but you're right. Most games get hate. if a game does not get a ton of praise everyday it usually gets lots of love on the net, kinda like metroidI don't know what it is with Halo. The people who love it are blind to reality and don't accept any form of criticism whatsoever, but on the other hand the people who hate it are overly critical and fail toacknowledge the things the game does well. I guess this is a vicious circle in a way and that's exactly why it is a game that keeps on playing such a central role in SW. The extremely overproportioned hype surrounding it also works to keep this whole thing going.
In my view Halo is a decent shooter which is technically underwhelming but makes up for it by offering one of the greatest online MP experiences. I haven't played the MP myself (not into online gaming, don't have the time), but if millions of people play and love it, it must have quality.
It's not very fun with randoms. But you get a group of decent friends and do team versus randoms and it's a blast. can eat up hours without even realizing itIn my view Halo is a decent shooter which is technically underwhelming but makes up for it by offering one of the greatest online MP experiences. People like Halo because it does EVERYTHING so solidly. Storytelling, gameplay, online multiplayer, cooperative campaign, editing levels, creating new gameplay modes. It does them all and it does them SOLIDLY. The controls are picture perfect for a console FPS. If you are looking for the silky smooth mouse+KB controls, go back to your PC. I agree that it is a superior form of control, but Halo is tailor made for a gamepad and it plays just fine if you take the time to get used to it. And since when do people call Halos features innovative? The original was the best FPS of last Gen. The controls were perfect, not innovative, but still great. Show me a comment where someone said "halo reinvented the wheel?" The first one defintetly contributed to the uprising of the console FPS as the dominant genre in gaming, but it didnt "reinvent the wheel", it just did everything SO SOLIDLY. That is why people like Halo, because they can expect quality, and if you dont like it, then dont complain about it for the millionth time.Honestly most of the hate I see towards Halo is from PC eletist and PS3 and Wii fanboys. Anyone who has put a decent amount of time into any of the three games knows that it is an ABOVE AVERAGE game. People just like to hate on popular things. I have pswii60 and gaming pc so dont say "xbox fanboys lulz".

I'm sure you're right. I'd love to play online, especially Borderlands seems like a game that I'd want to play online. The thing is that I'd have to choose between playingmultiple games' SP or investing time in one games' MP (because if I do play MP I want to own everyone :D). I'd rather have the diversity of playing more different games.
Soon, after I graduate,I'll have an off- and on job though and thus will have more time on my hands. Get ready to be owned online then.. ;) The Borderlands won't be safe anymore.. :D
its normal that any exclusive title specially if its hyped or else a sequelto a long running successful series get its fair share of hate...
Looking forward to see some reviews and what the media in general has to say about the game... plan to get it later on this year :)
People are opinionated, get used to it, people will never like the same thing each one has his/her own preferences.
because the series is overrated and they keep making the same game over and over and they will ruin the series if they keep making them they just need to end it
as a playstation fanboy, you probaly would love nothing more than for them to end halo, yet it is ok for final fantasy to rehash the same turn based crap for 13 versions? with spin offs for even more versions, yet there have been 3 halos...... hypocrite for the lossbecause the series is overrated and they keep making the same game over and over and they will ruin the series if they keep making them they just need to end it

It's not blind hatred because it's popular no. Ever since HALO came out developers have being trying to clone it back and forth. This entire generation is drowned in generic shooters because of HALO. That and after HALO 1, HALO2 & 3 wearn't anything special at all. It sells well because of the name HALO these days. HALO Reach has basically sold 10 million before it even came out. As will anything with the name HALO on it.
Halo 1 was really the only one that was all that significant. Halo 2 and 3 where just more of the same. Weak. Halo 1 was kinda revolutionary to Fps and it gets some credit for that but other than that its just the game that make people think theregamers. Its fun and cool and I like it but its just not as good as everyone makes it out to be.
I'm just wondering who made halo out to be the supreme title? I love it and have loved it since CE, but I know what it is. It's a great shooter with a crazy stroy that with average graphics. All those things formed like voltron to give us an all around fun experience. This is the same way I felt about left for dead and UT2K4, okay graphics with way above average fun factor. L4D could be as hated as Halo if it were marketed as MUCH as halo. .mtron32I can agree with this whole part.
