since the Canadian Dollar is almost on par with the American why are we still paying an extra $50-$100 on consoles and an extra $10 on games. I for one am not happy. Any Canadians agree with me?jasontakhar

1 ) I saw on the news they even said Halo 3 is $70 .
2) Didn't they hear of the free trade agreement.
3) some studios are located in Canada ( Silicon Knights , BIowares , Ubisoft montreal) yet they charge us more ???
It may take time for the prices to balance out although I really don't think it should be that way because when the currency value changes it should be the same for the consumer as it is with the markets.jimm895But then you get prices changing daily, which is going to piss people off even more. It would be like how gas prices work, only for everything.

yeah good idea:D
[QUOTE="sexy_chimp"]There are some people that have to pay over 100 dollars for a game. turgore
Guitar hero?
Nope, your normal game (Zelda: TP, Bioshock) costs 100 dollars in some out of reach places.
Well, yea, Canadian taxes are higher in general. The national gov't collects sales tax on top of the province, so for places like British Columbia it's 8% + 7% = 15% in taxes, whereas in places like California it's state + county sales taxes so it's more along the lines of 7% + 1.25% = 8.25% (in San Mateo county, where I live).
But this is talking about retail price, before taxes, and it's still more expensive because, well, people are willing to pay that much. It costs money to change prices on a large scale when the currency's value changes - something that happens everyday - so adjustments are rarely made unless prices are drastically different, and only if it's stricting one country importing goods from another country (i.e., it'd make sense to change prices only if all games were imported from the US).
Another way to think of it is that you work $10/hour * 6 hours for a game a year ago, you still work $10/hour * 6 hours for a game now; it's just cheaper for you to cross the border and get it for $10/hour * 5 hours.
STHU, you don't live in the UK. Heck, I would love to pay $50 for my games (£25) but I gotta pay £40 - 45OGTiago
The truth

the canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar now.

Well i don't think they should have to change the prices for anything that is made in canada (like food) but they should lowevr the prices of imported US products.
In the UK by using direct conversion we pay:
Wii: $367
Games: $71
360 + bundled game or accessory as standard: $510
Games: $81
PS3 + 2 bundled games as standard: $816
Games: $81
And we usually have to wait several months for the damn games to be translated into French, German, Spanish, Italian, yadda yadda. When the game is already in English, which is our own bloody language. Microsoft are making great strides to improve this issue and I love them for it, Mass Effect is only taking an extra 3 days to reach here for example 8)

That's starting to happen more often. Games get released on Tuesdays(?) in America and over here, it's usually Fridays. But didn't HS and Halo do the same? I think that all English speaking countries should be Region 1, who cares about tax?!? Nobody, that's who.

The more support the better, hopefully the trend expands *hello Nintendo*. Actually its not just them, Atlus were hyping the new Trauma Center at E3 when Second Opinion hadn't even been released yet. It insults me.
I just don't see why we should have to wait for every language we don't speak first, or share any border with before being able to play. Its saves a little money for publishers but doesn't make them suck any less for doing it.
*no offense to any europeans*

Yes, but, drive down to the states and exploit their failing dollar.
(It's not really our dollar going up, it's their dollar going down. So exploit while you still can.)

Just because our dollar is on par, doesnt mean jack. Its more than a price cut issue, your talking about putting our entire economy on balance with the USA, that takes awhile, maybe if it stays like this for a couple years.
It probably wont stay as high as it is anyways, so it doesnt matter, buy your stuff from the USA and run with it while u can.
