I cannot fathom why anybody buys a game on release day these days. When this generation first started everything was expensive, so i get it then, but now? A game is $60 launch day and $40 three weeks later. Give it another two and it'll be $30 or less. Give it another month and it'll be two for $30 or something.Because they already got the money from the suckers. I decided to wait until Max Payne 3 dropped in price and got it today for 30 bucks from Amazon..

Yeah, I don't buy anything unless I can get a deal on it. It isn't that I can't afford it, I just don't think it's worth it. Look at Diablo 3 that isn't even a game that you don't even really install and yet they want full price for it. They want you to pay full price for a goddamn client install.Because they already got the money from the suckers. Because late buyers are smart. We all know these games will inevitably reduce in price, why would you buy it a full price then? Answer is you aren't patient. Sucks to be you but business is kind to those who wait because the longer you wait the more desperate they get at collecting your money.
[QUOTE="James161324"]It's still BS. Especially for single player games when it doesn't matter how late you buy. >I don't like this >Hey but there's a reason why it happen-- >I don't like it >But-- >I DON'T LIKE ITIts called an early adoption fee, if you want something now you pay more

just how it is. I only buy day one stuff I really wanna play right there and then. If not I can wait for a lower price.
Then wait for the GOTY edition to get the entire game in one, cheaper purchaseWhen you buy games like Arkham City or RDR when they come out you gotta pay $60. Then the DLC costs even more. But people that wait get all the content for $30-40. Basically companies are milking and screwing over the people that buy their games on release date.

....are you foolish johnny? *knows you are already* its always been that way and people that wait get the dlc too its called game of the year editions.
If your actually talking about a price going down in price then your a double moron cause all items in the market go down in price.

If you know this, and it actually bothers you, the question is: why do you continue to be a sucker?
It is your choice. Either pay top dollar for the latest games and gloat at poor gamers, or hold onto your money and buy when the price is right. Don't pay earlier adopter tax and then whine about it.
games cost more on release date with less content because companies know ppl are scared of RROD. The sooner you play a game, the better the chance of finishing it before you get RROD, which is why companies charge more on release dates. PS3 titles however are 60 bucks simply due to quality, you get what you pay for.PinnacleGamingP
This isnt even close to being funny... I liked the days when trolls could actually induce a chuckle out of me.
Much of it has to do with supply and demand, do you want to play the game right now? Or do you want to wait until a future GOTY/Comlete edition or whatever?
I only buy games on day 1 for full price if it's one I REALLY want like UC, Skyrim ect....only games I'm planning on buying day 1 this year is really just AC3 and that's about it. Next year it will be The Last of Us and GTAV. Everything else I can wait for a price drop.
Hence why I haven't gotten Max Payne 3 yet, I can bet you that it will be in the $30-$40 range by Christmas. Save your money a bit, don't buy day one full price unless it's a game you REALLY want. Otherwise you can wait a bit.
"A penny saved is a penny earned"-Ben Franklin. He was a self made rich man, you should follow that advice if youu want to be well off later as an adult. It's not really referring to pennies in the general sense, just save your money and look around for cheaper deals.
It's how many markets work. Get used to it. If you want to watch a movie in theaters the week it is released, you're going to pay more than if you till it's in the dollar theatre.

I just picked it up for $30 too. Hooray for Amazon and digital distribution! :D
Reminds me of the time I bought The Darkness II (on PC, of course) for $12.50 less than a month after it came out. Amazing how fast game prices drop these days. The only times I pay full price for games is when I'm getting a collector's edition of a game (Forza 4, Mass Effect 3) that's actually limited in supply. Damn I love this generation.

unless they are classic or collectible, which video games are not.
Pug-Nasty
u sure?
There are rare games and collectors editions that are sold by an exorbitant price on the interwebs
For ex: before the ICO and SotC collection was announced ICO was being sold by almost 250 euros (more then 250 USD) on Ebay. Also Rule of Rose (a sh1tty game for the PS2) became rare because it was banned in several countries due to pedophilia acusations thus becoming rare and a classic collectors game even though technically is a sh1tty game

Well, I suppose everything is collectible. People collect all kinds of useless junk, so collecting video games might not be that strange. Still, they aren't collector's items by default, which is why they generally get cheaper as times go on, rather than the norm being that they increase in price.

I'm pretty sure old cars from the 60s became cheaper aswell before turning into collectors items now...
Time and rarity are big factors that play a big role when considering what makes something a "collectors item"... Games are still a "young" media. I'm sure in a few years collecting rare games will be usual. Hell, even now some people start to collect old SNES, ATARI2600, etc games

Perhaps, but the fact remains that video games are dependant on functioning hardware that they are compatible with to play them on. That hamstrings their ability to be true collectors items. The fact that they are all just copies doesn't help either. I don't know anyone who "collects" movies in an active way, just people who tend to have a collection of moves from buying them frequently.

Thats a good point but we'll see
Edit: But have in mind Vynil for ex are becoming collectors items aswell even depending on functioning hardware (dont know if hardwrae is the correct term for vynil players but you get the point)

Yeah, I decided I didn't want to pay full price for it and I caught a sale. It's funny I was about to buy it when it was a lightning deal earlier last week. I'm glad I waited. lol.[QUOTE="James161324"]It's still BS. Especially for single player games when it doesn't matter how late you buy.
