Why are Lems hyping Gears 3 graphics?

Gears 3 doesn't look that great at all:| It looks slightly better than Gears 2 which is a game that MGS4 looks better than. Alan Wake is a far better looking game thus far and is easily in the top 5 best looking console games. Unless Epic can pull a rabbit out of a hat, Gears won't be 360s best looking game. What is Gears 3 doing that Gears 2 didn't do? The character models are still extremely blocky and outdated looking. I'm not flamebating or nothing, but what is Gears 3 bringing to 360 that Alan Wake didn't?

Lems are hyping Gears 3 graphics because from what we've seen so for of all the console games on the horizon it is one of the best looking. Obviously as we get more footage things are subject to change.

I dont have a 360 anymore....and even if I did,I'd have no interest in Gears 3.

However a person would have to be smoking crack to say it "looked bad".

2 Reasons:

1. The GEOW games has always been a series of great looking games.

2. It's the 360's first chance in a long time that an exclusive can go head to head with Sony's 1st Party exclusives in overall graphics quality.

Gears 3 looks a lot better visually than 2, from what I've seen. A poster on here (who only has a PS3 btw) said he saw it at PAX (?) and it looks better than UC2.Ravensmash

You are judging this off multiplayer footage...which is always downgraded in graphics, even Uncharted 2 suffered from this and hopefully Uncharted 3 won't.

Also, this doesn't look that bad, it's off screen and it's a very old build from early last year:

This can pull a God of War 3: Looked like crap in 2008(I remember people hating on God of War 3 graphics, LOL), looked very good in 2009 and is up there with the best console graphics kings in 2010 around Uncharted 2/Killzone 2 level and surpassing them in some spots.

I personally have to agree with you on this one.

In some occasions, Gears 2 even looks better than Gears 3.

If anything, I think that people should be hyping the campaign mode--since Gears 2's campaign was surprisingly good. Its multiplayer was devastating, so don't expect Call of Duty-quality in that one.

Also, it's pretty clear from gameplay videos and screenshots that Epic didn't want to focus on the graphics in the this third instalment, so people should stop hyping them...

i agree 10 thou. imho lems have nothing to hype about for so long so when they see gears3 they hype anything about it. they think great graphics equals great game. they make lots of threads about graphics too, dunno why. if gears3 doesnt get 9.5 or higher its a flop

By that logic, someone can argue that Perfect Dark Zero is graphics king. Opinion is cool and all, but only to a certain extent.

Last time I checked KZ2,3, UC2, GOW3, does blow anything on 360 out of the water. The only game on 360 that come close is Alan Wake.

So, if Alan Wake looks better than Gears 3, and according to someone who played Gears 3, Gears 3 is better looking than UC2 and KZ3 then you're saying Alan Wake is better looking than UC2 and Gears 3.
