Ummm...pretty much all Sony studios were acquired:

Naughty Dog

Insomniac

Sucker Punch

Guerilla Games

Media Molecule

Bend Studio

Nowhere near the same as buying a company like Bethesda who developed, published, and was already a successful multiplatform company. Sony bought most of these developers while they were still growing and independent. Only exception really was Insomniac they were practically a 2nd party developer for them for years. Any more weaksauce arguments for today? You're on par for the course as usual.

All of them or at least the vast majority of them were multiplat devs which as the TC put it - acquired just to keep their games from being on other systems since Sony can't develop their own teams besides look at the title.

As for acquiring the publisher, well they would want to just that Sony doesn't have the money to do so. By the way, why are you upset over Bethesda, haven't you made countless threads about how they suck? Any more bu*thurt replies? You're par for the course as usual.

IMO It's ok to a point, as an emergency measure or whatever, but I hope they're going to be focused on building studios up for themselves after this E3. They've already got a ton of talent, and it's not like they don't have the resources to invest at ground level.

On the other hand, I can see why they went this route, after the whole Sony PS4 paid exclusivity debacle...

@Sagemode87: Dude, all of those companies were multiplat devs before Sony bought them. Stop owning yourself.

Lems are deflecting with Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, and Insomniac? Devs that work almost specifically with Sony? Yeah, that's exactly the same as buying multiplat devs. Get some logic guys.

It's simple tribalism. People on these forums have their camps and many in one camp hate those in the other camps to the point where any positive for their camp, regardless that the coin could flip for them in the future, is celebrated.

Same thing happened in politics with hyper-tribalism. You have nut jobs now speaking at Yale stating white people show their shame and guilt of being racists by not eating bread and how she wants to kill them. Not a peep from most people. That should be telling enough where America is headed.

Game development studio acquisitions should really not be a concern for anyone when the above is occurring.

I'm in all the camps but despise the Cows the most. I've had every PlayStation console, can't stand the fans of it.

Bend Studio made Bubsy?

No wonder Sony are desperate to close them down.

What would I be jealous of? I'm not the one shilling for one company and gets bu*thurt every time being called out on the hypocrisy.

Oh and thanks for proving my point. The majority of the devs were multiplat before they were acquired.

Bend Studios started out as an independent company to make games for Apple and then PC in early 1990s.

Insomniac, made 3 multiplat games and have consistently said for many years they like their independence.

Naughty Dog was also incorporated under a different name and made many games for Apple, DOS, Sega etc.

Guerilla Games made Shell Shock Nam 67 on almost all paltforms of the time

Sucker Punch also first made a game for other platform

So, feel free to point out what was I wrong about, dumb dumb and in the mean time remain bu*thurt. Can't wait to see the next self-ownage.

Creating and funding ur own exlusives is fine, buying franchises previously established as multiplatform is what pisses me off and i think it's a lazy/dirty move. Both Sony and MS are quite guilty of this, but MS buying bethesda was the ultimate dirty move from the consumer perspective as Fallout/edler scrolls were granted to be franchises anyone could enjoy regardless of platform. Same with Final Fantasy XVI, theres no reason for it to be ps5 exclusive, the last ones besides 14 have been multiplatfrom.

Like... i'm too lazy to make exercise so i'll just buy Usain Bolt to compete for me. :I

And the worst part is that Bethesda gonna get wrecked by MS interests. they used to be Zenimax bi$%h, and now Zenimax is MS bi$%h... so that makes, Bethesda is the bi$%h of the bi$%h of the bi$%h. And MS is known for killing every studio they get their hands on, Bethesda will be put on Halo developing camp before know it.

Whatever. Sony acquired studios, albeit those studios technically were already exclusive to Playstation before the acquisitions.

MS has hollowed out the developers they have acquired, and its quite alarming. Rare became a shell of its former self. MS funded Scalebound, which I remember the infamous thread where Xbox fanboys *celebrated* the canceling of a Hideki Kamiya game - this is a man who has literally never made a bad game, but in their heads, MS can do no wrong.

Also the people who seem to have some sort of collective amnesia should really visit the thread about MS acquiring Bethesda - it was a fanfare of praise from a ton of fanboys on this forum. Bethesda is going to get completely destroyed by this merger, but I do not really care since I haven't played any of their games in the past 10 years besides DOOM and DOOM Eternal, which is id Softworks and they can easily quit and make a new studio.

@NathanDrakeSwag: Maybe MS is buying studios because they know they’re not very good at making exclusives? Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
