[QUOTE="Icarian"]You had to pay for COD4 maps? that's lame. That must have been a console thing since maps were free on the PC.I didn't have anything against COD4 map pack. I spent countless amount of hours on that game and I just thought to buy the map pack as a way to show my appreciation. But with WaW there were three map packs and I only bought the first one. I didn't play the game enough to justify buying rest of the packs. Same with MW2, and I stopped playing it after Bad Company 2 came out. I played Black Ops only couple matches, so I'm not planning on buying those either. And I'll probably buy MW3 only because of the SP.

Yeah, it was free on PC, Nvidia sponsored it. My old PC couldn't run COD 4 back then. I had it on 360.
Let me put it this way, for $30, you can either get 10 average maps, or this. So 10 maps, or a complete expantion pack (standalone too btw).
Why are people so against $15 Call of Duty maps and not Halo Reach's $10 map packs? I think you get a better deal out of the Call of Duty map packs. I spent $20 on Halo Reach to get 5 maps.Thats a lot higher than the Call of Duty maps.

People are against it because of the rumors they hear of Activision charging this/that, next time. It isn't really about the money, but the principle. This is something the younger generation of gamers, I feel, fail to understand. I will NEVER buy a $120 250gig harddrive. That is total bs and I just can't support that slimy way of doing business.
Bungie has also released a ton of user created maps (obviously free). Can't say the same for casuals on duty.
That's like 1/4 of a new game purchase. For a couple of maps on a crappy game. Waste of money if I've ever seen one. You could have just as much fun and enjoyment using the default maps. Its pretty much the same thing on every map you play. Run, shoot, run, shoot, die...
the game releases for $60 retail, a couple months later a map pack releases and you buy it. You've now invested $75 on said game. One month later the final map pack releases and you're now up to 90 bucks (keep in mind that all of the maps were already on the disc).
If you're one of those XBL sunscribers that only play games like COD online then you have now invested 150 bucks on the year just to play this game.
Rinse and repeat for the next COD game.
for 15 bucks i can just about go buy another game. i have never bought map packs but i have bought dlc content, like expansions : dragon age and i wanna buy fallout new vegas expansions and those are not even 15 bucks and these are more then 1 hour long expansions. Its silly to me that they charge 15 bucks for maps. But if people wanna throw down that money for it go for it, i'm not stopping you but i wish people would think before they do it.
